Video: Sen. James Inhofe rips Hollywood global warming scaremongers

Meat so red… Al Gore and Hollywood lights Leonardo DiCaprio and Laurie David have their environmental fright careers picked apart by name.

Partial transcript:

Children are now the number one target of the global warming fear campaign. DiCaprio announced his goal was to recruit young eco-activists to the cause.

“We need to get kids young,” DiCaprio said in a September 20 interview with USA Weekend.

Hollywood activist Laurie David, Gore’s co-producer of “An Inconvenient Truth” recently co-authored a children’s global warming book with Cambria Gordon for Scholastic Books titled, The Down-To-Earth Guide to Global Warming.

But David should worry less about recruiting young activists and more about scientific accuracy. A science group found what it called a major “scientific error” in David’s new kid’s book on page 18.

According to a Science and Public Policy Institute release on September 13:

“The authors [David and Gordon] present unsuspecting children with an altered temperature and CO2 graph that reverses the relationship found in the scientific literature. The manipulation is critical because David’s central premise posits that CO2 drives temperature, yet the peer-reviewed literature is unanimous that CO2 changes have historically followed temperature changes.”

David has now been forced to publicly admit this significant scientific error in her book.

We interviewed Sen. Inhofe back in September.

When this warming cycle ends and it starts to cool, will these nuts shut the f up, or will they just find something else to get hysterical about?

James Inhofe is awesome!

No. Here’s what they’re goign to do: (Mark this comment)

They will take credit for everything, point out that IF it wasn’t for them ringing the alarm bell, running around the world warning everybody, NONE of the Global Cooling that we’re experiencing now would be taking place!!!!

That’s right, they’ll take credit for it!!!!

Isn’t that their M.O.? Take credit for everything regardless if it’s true (See Inventing the Internet)

But he’s a Republican, so naturally he’s a corporate shill and not to be trusted. Sheesh, don’t you people know anything. The science is settled, people.

I’m starting to love this guy.
(In a manly, narrow stance, sort of way, of course.)

We need another ~95 like him in the Senate.

Heh. Here’s his youtube page with several more related videos. I don’t smoke, but I feel the need for a cigarette. :)

only Al Gore can save us

Mojack420 on October 26, 2007 at 6:24 PM

This is a personal topic to me. I have heard all the arguments claiming that global warming (which no reasonable scientist doubts!) is caused BY HUMANS (which MANY reasonable scientists doubt), and their opponents.

I would personally prefer to believe that the human-caused crowd were right! Because that would lend the credibility to the case that we could stop what we are doing and reverse this trend.

However, the persuasive arguments are that the inescapable warming is NOT human-caused. Thus, I must resign myself to dealing with its consequences in absentia of any plausible action or abbrogation of action that we can take.

The Hollywood crowd is making things preposterously worse. Chicken Little doesn’t even begin to cover it.

All people agree that PCBs and Mercury are rife in our wild trout populations, and that human activity and industry brought this about. I am absolutely on board with the whole “we are f*cking up our world” paradigm. I know sincere environmental action should be taken. I am no fan of the raping of our beautiful natural environment.

But I cannot be persuaded that this global warming scenario is our fault. Not by Al Gore or his Hollywood paranoiacs.

I am heartened by this public servant and his level-headedness. There is reason to believe in our elected officials. What should be done, if anything, remains to be seen. But the scaremongering and utterly beneath-the-belt terrorizing of our children is yet Reason #194,284 to boycott the nefarious works of the Hollywood crowd.

Much as I love movies and respect theater, it is not the business of professional liars (e.g., actors, writers) to determine social and national policy.

Gore can take his Nobel prize and shove it up his a$$. He is no friend to peace, nor to the United States. And DeCaprio has NEVER made a good film. To Hell with him, too!

thejackal on October 26, 2007 at 6:25 PM

Our public schools are engaging in child abuse. They are causing our children sleepless nights, dread and fear all to promote a heartless political agenda for money and power.

The man-made global warming scam is utter nonsense from top to bottom, no scientific data supports it and all scientific data refutes it. Parents need to attend the school board meetings and demand this baseless political propaganda be expelled from the classrooms. Parents should be outraged that their children are being used as expendable political pawns to promulgate the Marxist wishes of “green” organizations and the IPCC of the UN.

The debate IS OVER… man-made global warming is a FRAUD !!

I thank Senator Inhofe for his relentless efforts to expose the man-made global warming scam for the hoax and power grab that it is. Where are the other Republican Senators on this issue? Why do other Republicans sit back and remain silent while American’s children are abused by this pack of lies? Its time for all REAL Republicans to join forces with Senator Inhofe and stop the global warming gravy train that is costing American taxpayers billions of dollars per year and needlessly burdening the minds of our youth.

Yeah, and sadly to challenge it they have to buck the WH. WH’s official position is that climate change is real and we significantly impact them.

Spirit of 1776 on October 26, 2007 at 6:34 PM

Senator Inhofe is great. It is a shame that he seems to be on an island by himself in this fight. Conservatives need to join Inhofe in his fight to stop these “global warming scaremongers”. I am all for cleaner air, but not at the expense of destroying our economy. To me this has always been a money grab in the name of saving the Earth. Of course, I am just one of those nuckle draggers that thinks God will take care of the Earth. Keep up the great work Senator Inhofe!

You gotta hand it to them, they’ve covered all the bases. Cooling as a result of global warming. Clever. And idiots believe this without question.

Whatever happened to the ozone thingy? In the early 90’s it was all about the hole in the ozone layer. Now it’s the CO2. Hard to keep up with this religion.

I saw the handwriting on the wall long ago with that tired phrase “the debate is over” on global warming.

I send for and received a copy of the BBC report of 2006 “The Great Global Warming Swindle” a couple of months ago waiting to present it to my boys elementary school if they were forced to watch the Algores twisted attempt at terrifying my kids at school. So far they have been saved from that ordeal.

I have heard from my small sons several vague references to “man made global warming” that has been brought up in
their classroom lately, but my little guys are ready with the truth and not afraid to speak out on the matter.

We can put a stop to the doom sayers propaganda and reclaim sanity in this insane world.

Not in THIS science teacher’s classroom!

I am piloting new Earth sci books and guess what’s in ‘em? Yep, the hockey stick graph, in all its glory.

I can’t wait to get to that topic in the spring and rip it to shreds. Bwahahahahah!

Why don’t we have more politicos like Inhofe that have the Malkins to call these idiots out. Especially our Presidential candidates. And for that matter our President, who has knuckled under to this junk science with the rest of the lilly livered.

conservnut on October 26, 2007 at 7:40 PM

Whatever. I’m not thrilled by a man with moronic views[*] on gay people claiming that global warming isn’t happening, while most scientists having the opposite view.

[*]By moronic views, I mean views are that are clearly wrong by people who actually know gay people.

They will say that the cooling is a result of the warming,

They have already done this. I read a year or two ago an article in a paper that was blaming an unusual cold snap on global warming. And this was in the middle of winter. I think it was our local paper and it was an AP story. I should have saved it. I rarely read any papers at all anymore.
I wonder if Al Gore or some of these zealots ever think about kicking it up a few more notches,, have a little more fun,, throw a few trial balloons out and if they don’t stick just say it was all a joke,, maybe Al Gore should just come out and say the earth has actually spoken to him and warned that unless he is made king we will all be destroyed by plagues or something. Or maybe claim aliens abducted him for a short time,, left him with a message that our CO2 was affecting the galaxy as well.

The difference between Y2K and global warming:

Y2K: We’re All Doomed come January! Save yourselves now! Buy generators! Buy Milk! Buy Batteries! GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!

Algore: We’re All Doomed some time in the near or distant future! SEND ME MONEY NOW!

Of late, my Senator has made me very proud. I will vote for his re-election as I have since he first took office. THIS is what I pay my Senator for: exposing the bias which attempts to lead our nation into a dangerous course of over-taxation and over-legislation of our corporate citizens which keep us employed. Go for it, Senator! You have my support.

Yeah his public speaking skills were off on this one but his logic was 100% as usual. Inhofe rocks and makes me so proud to be an Okie.

The alarmists are getting desperate. When you confront them about CO2 lagging behind temperature changes, or that small, manmade contributions to carbon dioxide levels can’t be responsible for a global temperature shift of degree proportions (or we’d have seen it in the past).

I just had a nice discussion with a moonbat over at my blog.

Stupid excuses sell for a dime a dozen lately.

Ryan Gandy on October 27, 2007 at 2:52 PM

Does anyone remember Y2K? Remember the scare tactics?

Y2K was a serious situation. It wasn’t “scare tactics”; it brought attention to what could have been very ugly, forced IT people to audit the software they were using, and make sure they got the problems fixed.

I recall reports of British ATMs not working right after the beginning of the year, which was blamed on Y2K problems. And we found out recently that the studies that said that 1998 was the hottest year ever were skewed by a Y2K bug!

Note that I do not refer to “the” Y2K bug, because there are thousands if not millions of individual implementations, slightly different variations on the same fundamental flaw in reasoning. (I refer to muscular dystrophies in the plural for similar reasons.)

The funniest reported Y2K of all was when Al Gore’s presidential campaign website showed “January 1, 19100“. That didn’t happen to be a critical problem, but since he invented the Internet, you’d think he’d have fixed it.

I’ve spent a lot of time working on the DST problem (which is biting unpatched systems again tonight), and consider it a mini-Y2K of sorts.
