Quote of the day

“I certainly did not accomplish what I wanted to do on Iran. I was not able to convince enough other people above me of the seriousness of Iran’s threat; I suggested early on a multilateral diplomatic course that others hijacked and ran in slow motion, to my dismay and to our detriment; and finally, time just ran out on me as I left State. There were many other reasons, not least that the “global test” mentality carried far more weight inside the Bush administration than I had anticipated… After Iraq, the fear of being separated from the Europeans was too great to overcome, even within an administration of supposed unilateralist cowboys.”

Gotta get that book, Bolton was just too much of a man to serve in an administration of wimps.
My hope is that someday, under a great conservative administration, Mr Bolton will return to public service. We sure need more like him in this world.
conservnut on October 26, 2007 at 11:07 PM
I hope we haven’t seen the last of John Bolton; our country still needs him.
Zorro on October 26, 2007 at 11:08 PM
Oh and notice the one lefty customer review. That jackass has probably never read a book since “Green Eggs and Ham” And that was last week.
conservnut on October 26, 2007 at 11:10 PM
I think the threat is seen clearly enough now. The problem is that we’re going through an election cycle and too many boobs would rather grandstand about “cowboy diplomacy” and such, than grow a pair, and actually solve the problem. Bolton did not spend enough time in a position of power. That’s too bad. Unfortunate for us, we have this opposition party called “the Democrats” who would rather see the US marginalized in the world, and would allow sponsors of terror rise to power in the name of “diplomacy”. God help us! God save us!
thedecider on October 26, 2007 at 11:12 PM
Bolton was clearly a breath of Fresh Air on Hot Air.
I hope you guys have a great weekend, you’ve certainly kept me reading some great posts all day. Cheers!

The WaPo says the book will likely cause angst at the State Department…
Wish I’d been there to see that.
Here’s looking forward to a little angst.
Thank you, Mr. Bolton, for your service for our nation.
INC on October 26, 2007 at 11:18 PM
I noticed that lefty review. He’s not fit to tie John Bolton’s shoes.
INC on October 26, 2007 at 11:18 PM
Yeah, I noticed that too. According to the info page for the book, it’s not due to hit the shelves until the 6th of next month, so that review is almost certainly bogus. Of course there are advance copies, but it truly doubt that “reviewer” ever had his hands on one.
Have you read it Bryan? If so, what did you think?
Maxx on October 26, 2007 at 11:18 PM
I left a nice comment for him.
Amen. Statesmen with backbone like him are in very short supply these days.
infidel4life on October 26, 2007 at 11:23 PM
I’m reading it now. It’s unfiltered Bolton.
Bryan on October 26, 2007 at 11:24 PM
i want a ralph peters / john bolton ticket for ‘08.
jummy on October 26, 2007 at 11:30 PM
Unfiltered Bolton, sounds good !
What’s funny about Bolton is that he looks brash and he is but he’s brash in a good way, and he’s on our side. Anybody that thinks the U.N. is useless automatically has my admiration, so for Bolten, it’s admiration times ten.
Maxx on October 26, 2007 at 11:38 PM
Just like MoveOn.org libeling General Pertaeus before he even had a chance to testify/speak. They shut down or shout down opposition speaches and assemblies, and now they are condemning and criticizing before people can even talk. And they accuse us of bing Nazis and tyrants!?
El Guapo on October 26, 2007 at 11:40 PM
Sorry to disagree, but Bolton is not brash. He’s a careful, studious diplomat. Diplomacy is the art of smiling and handing your counter part a glass of wine as you tell him to shove it right up his a**. That’s Bolton.
HerrMorgenholz on October 26, 2007 at 11:46 PM
HerrMorgenholz But Bolton’s brazen bluntness and non-PC ability to just call things as they are seen and confront you about them is not liked in the Democratic party. Why is that? I cant figure it out.
*sarcasm off*

HerrMorgenholz on October 26, 2007 at 11:46 PM
I always thought the art of diplomacy was saying nice doggy, while looking around for a big rock. But I do like your version better and your right… that is Bolton.
Maxx on October 27, 2007 at 12:03 AM
Did he just say Iran and hijacked in the same sentence? Yes, yes he did.
- The Cat
P.S. Vent to promote his book?
MirCat on October 27, 2007 at 12:31 AM
The so-called reviewer gave
Cry [IMPORT] Simple Minds 4.5 stars . Tearfully never heard of-em. : )
Texyank on October 27, 2007 at 12:42 AM
I read about Bolton and what a trouble maker he was and fell for the whole thing. After actually listening to him, within the first thirty-seconds it was clear that this was a great man that was getting hosed by the MSM and the Left. I’m sure they see him as a danger since he gets the job done and sees the need.
Sadly, this type of man or women will have no place in visible positions in the near future of this country. Republicans are trying to out metro-sexual each other to get elected and the Dems are pandering to the far Left, so back to the war chest with him.
Hening on October 27, 2007 at 7:12 AM
Hmmm…I think that’s the real quote of the day.
flipflop on October 27, 2007 at 7:27 AM
I found the mentions of Bolton in Clarence Thomas’s memoir to be interesting.
meep on October 27, 2007 at 7:31 AM
I wish the republicans had the sense and b@lls to make Bolton their presidential candidate. I would vote for him. He would be a GREAT President! Probably even better than President Reagan.
WildBillK on October 27, 2007 at 8:23 AM
A pity the current admin is so “et up with” trying to appease the euro-weenies. I suspect within a decade our troops will be liberating their a$$es again. From their islamist overlords.
Texas Nick 77 on October 27, 2007 at 8:33 AM
Once again we see that Powell was spending his time at State undermining his boss. Given the proverb “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” I have to wonder how many of his superiors in the Army he undermined and/or ruined on his way to the top (Chairmanship of the JCS).
Lancer on October 27, 2007 at 9:12 AM
Jummy, I Like that Bolton/Peters 08′ idea. The ultimate dream ticket.
The sheer scope of the simultaneous pants wetting in Tehran would be stunning.
paragon27x on October 27, 2007 at 11:52 AM
He would certainly be the right man at the right time…..
doriangrey on October 27, 2007 at 12:35 PM
Imagine what Bolton could do as Sec State over an eight-year tenure… marvelous thought.
T J Green on October 27, 2007 at 2:10 PM
How bout a John Bolton/Michael Steele run?
