Yeah, it happens so often anti-islamic speakers are practically growing in trees impaled on branches with their guts hanging out. The amount of paranoia about muslims hiding under every rock waiting for an infidel to open his mouth so they have an excuse to shove a scimitar down their thorat is starting to border on comedy.

Whether or not that were true, how does that remotely bear on this particular case here?

A case where, by all accounts, the number and severity of death threats do not rise and fall with the general level of "paranoia" or hysteria, real or imagined, but remain steady throughout?

I recommend…maybe donating to your local women’s shelter if you want to protect people. Or Humane shelter.

Why not do all of that and also contribute to Ayaan?

1) because I don't trust the Ayaan fund
2) because I'm not made out of money

AP
I understand the caution. AHA (initials seem appropriate, don't they?) now has the info posted on her (official?) blog, with the email addresses for inquiries, and a link to the home page of the law firm that is, one can only assume, charged with managing, as well as setting up, the trust, Jackson & Campbell.

While AHA has offices at AEI, it looks to me like the trust is not actually being officially sponsored by AEI, but is being set up by AHA privately. This is something that should probably be clarified. I don't mean to imply that that's necessarily a bad thing, and given how a lot of folks feel about AEI outside of conservative circles, some degree of separation may, in fact, be a good thing. Absent a recognized institutional sponsor, however, it will be important -- for what will presumably be long term fund raising efforts -- to establish the bona fides of this Trust in a more formal way.

At a minimum, AHA should be able to provide a clear, official, statement of purpose for the Trust and specific contact information for the Trustee who, in turn, should be able to provide legal assurances to contributors that the funds will be used for the stated purposes. Interestingly, a search for AHA on the Jackson & Campbell site, pulls up a single link to a PDF on What You Need To Know About Recent Changes To The Concept Of “Trust Income” Under State Law And The Code. A private trust is a differnt kind of legal entity (and of relevance here, notably less transparent) than a charitable foundation.

AHA is clearly responding to the expression of widespread interest in supporting her security needs, and I fully intend to lend a hand, but there's potentially a lot of money involved here which means a potentially massive PR debacle if it's handled in too casual a fashion. According to another email. in circulation, her office is also setting up a separate "public U.S. charity (501(c)(3)) that will support Muslim dissidents around the world." Worthy causes both, but I do hope that Ms. Ali has contemplated the full burden of administration and accountability that such endeavors require!

Good research, Mcguyver! The only question I have now is, has anyone already set up a banner? Or do we all just set up our own? I don't want to double up on someone else's effort.

Don't be a jerk, scooter... Some of us are CAREFUL and suspicious of where we send our money. I just want a third party I recognize, have used in the past, and trust.

Sending money through the mail is risky, and not necessarily the brightest thing to do these days.

I love Ayaan, and I want to help...but this has nothing whatever to do with whether I remove my fingers from the keyboard or not...only with being smart with my money.

....................HEAR, HEAR, HEAR............

PayPal to the rescue........!!!!!!!

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/general/OctEmailLP-outside

YOU, yes you, CAN DO THIS YOURSELF, from your own myspace or facebook site, to wit:

Jump-start your grassroots campaign.
MySpace and Facebook badges let you raise money using your PayPal account. It’s easy to get started:

   1. Choose your cause.
   2. Copy or build the badge of your choice.
   3. Send a broadcast message to your friends.
.
.

Use your social network to collect money for various causes:
    * A nonprofit group dear to your heart
    * A walk-a-thon raising money for cancer, Alzheimer’s or other causes
    * New books for your local school, place of worship or community center
    * Uniforms for your sports team
    * Gifts for children who would otherwise go without

.
.

I don't want to hear anymore complaints from any of you.

And for those who don't think this is a worthy cause, Darth Executor et al, you are exposing yourself for the uneducated, uninformed, biased, liberals that you are.

So thanks for exposing yourself.

Don't expect me or any thinking person to feed your trollish comments around these parts any longer.
You are full of it, and therefore worthless contributors.

if this is even legit (which I doubt), her security costs 3 million a year.

I recommend waiting for a while, or maybe donating to your local women's shelter if you want to protect people. Or Humane shelter.

Her security is so important. Unless of course it inconveniences me by my having to remove my fingers from the key board. hummmm……

Oh, nonsense. First of all, no one has said they would only help if she used Paypal. Second, if a Paypal arrangement can be established, she can get a lot more money even faster. More money more quickly means security sooner. Get it?

If she established a PayPal or secure website for CCs, I'll donate as well. I hate writing checks.

I just did a quick scan and I didn't see a URL that I can link to on my blog. If anyone knows it, can you please post it here?

I’m on board with that Paypal thing, too. I’ll send a check if need be, but Paypal is preferable.

Yeah, cuz they'd never think to send someone with no obvious connections over our highly secured borders, or through our airports on a traveler's or student visa, or some random guy with a case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome comes along. Neeeever happen. Don't be stupid.

Infidel, good idea emailing...please keep us updated on what you hear. I really don't want to do anything until they have a Paypal account.
No offense to Ayaan, who I admire beyond words, but I need a KNOWN and trusted third party to take my money. I can't justify sending to an unfamiliar address.

So? They'll have a hard time finding an American Muslim willing to go kill her. Terrorists excluded, obviously, but I doubt they'd blow their cover and possibly their whole cell's cover just to kill one woman.
