Twenty years ago, I adored Carlin’s take on life. I’ve changed and he’s changed. Age is a terrible thing to endure.

Here’s what I don’t get about nihilists and enviro-nuts who hate live and humanity: why don’t they kill themselves? If mankind is evil and should be destroyed, shouldn’t they lead us by example? Join the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement, maybe? C’mon, if you’re a cancer on the earth, use your twisted hands, with their mutant opposable thumbs, to apply some 9mm chemo to your abominably large cranium.

‘Eat, drink, be merry for tomorrow you may die’ gives no more comfort than ‘Conserve, reduce and condemn the excesses of others’. It is all ultimately joyless

News flash! George Carlin is very funny but he hates people and he hates himself. He hates. Comedians tend to be deeply depressed people.

Uh, I’m a comedian. I love life. I tend to love everything about it, especially the fact that most liberals are proved wrong, we just need to wait out the ignorance.

Unfortunately for th libs, it usually happens after they die, so they do not have the opportunity to realize how wrong they were.

Sad.

I saw him live at Michigan State in 1995. I was so excited to see him – I’d loved him as a teenager. This was my first chance to see a really big-name comic live.

It was beyond disappointing.

His opening act (who’s name I can’t remember) was awesome. Hilarious. My abs actually hurt the next day.

Carlin came on and did a 45-minute gig … and I’m not sure I laughed once. I’m not sure I even smiled. The whole thing was acerbic, acidic, bitter, cynical, stale, over-used, cliched … and completely unfunny.

Those tickets were expensive. More than a decade later, I’m still disappointed and pissed off. He was just horrible. And it wasn’t my politics, either – I wasn’t exactly the red-meat conservative then that I am now.

He just sucked.

Hey Professor, that’s the same Carlin show (in 1995) that I mentioned in a previous post that I worked back stage when he stopped at Gammage Auditorium in AZ.

I agree, the comedian that opened for him was hilarious and a really down to earth person, we had a great conversation after his opening when George went on. He was not at all like most of the celebrities I’ve met and dealt with when I would work safety/security back stage at Gammage. I too wish I could remember the comedian’s name as I would really like to catch his show again, he really did upstage Carlin in my opinion.

It’s not that I hate Carlin, he is what he is, he’s never pulled any punches, he’s for the most part not biased (he’s an equal opportunity hater) but his schtick is getting old and tired like him.

Honestly I think so. If you live in California you do what you can to prepare for Earthquakes and wildfires. If you live in Kansas you prepare for tornadoes. If you live in Florida you prepare for Hurricanes, New orleans floods. In new England you prepare for serious blizards about once a year.

When an earthquake hits Florida, a wildfire hits New England or a blizzard hits California then that is an unexpected disaster. When normal envionmental disasters get out of control in thier native regions that is mostly a man made problem. It is terrible for the people, but there is no point in denying it is a problem with society not with nature.

Howver twisted Carlin may be, I think that is essentially what he is pointing out.

Indeed, I heard Ann comment about it on the radio a few days later, and she was remarkably appreciative of his basic decency toward her for those ten minutes or so. She, and I, both expected him to jump on her like a banshee, but he just didn’t.

I should define “really stupidly”. They say we just need to consume differently and everything will be ok. As far as I can tell from their incoherent responses, they fantasize us living in tents, riding bicycles, and eating berries. Winter?

On the flip side, like Carlin, when I talk about liberal hypocracy in my set, I use a sledge hammer. Not because I don’t like finesse. It’s because a rapier is for sissy boys. Real men use a sledge hammer. Unlike Carlin, I use a sledge because I like it.

He uses a sledge because his mind is so wasted by drugs that he can not handle anything more complicated than a simple swing of a sledge.
