Video: Mary Katharine Ham tries to explain the appeal of viral video to O’Reilly

The first half of the segment is devoted to this douchebag, the second to an extended, hamfisted ball-busting session in which Bill hassles MK about the unbridgeable generation gap that prevents him for appreciating the Three-Stooges-esque silliness of this.

I had two choices: either give you this or give you the segment with Geraldo, his hair rakishly tousled, a black t-shirt showing off his tattooed biceps, reporting live on the scene of the California wildfires. Yeah! There was a big fire — and he was there. On the scene.

I went with my gut. I’m not sorry.

Good call.

It’s not a generation thing, Bill. It’s a technology thing. People have been wasting time at work since, well the beginning of “work”, and with the net this is just the way it’s done these days.

Spirit of 1776 on October 24, 2007 at 9:39 PM

I think most “normal” people like to see the bold and beautiful embarrass themselves. It brings a sense of the human element to even the celebrity-type.

That’s my guess. I hope Bill reads this.

ballz2wallz on October 24, 2007 at 9:41 PM

Has Bill never heard of schadenfreud?

TheSitRep on October 24, 2007 at 9:42 PM

I went with my gut. I’m not sorry.

Thats too bad I was hoping to see if Geraldo spit on the fire.

EnochCain on October 24, 2007 at 9:42 PM

Dude, we watch you,too.Big dif?

bbz123 on October 24, 2007 at 9:42 PM

I went with my gut.

AP gets lucky again. Amazing that he still doesn’t have an iPhone.

RedWinged Blackbird on October 24, 2007 at 9:44 PM

Of course during all the objections OR had for everyone watching this clip, HE SHOWED THE CLIP 5 TIMES at least.

So why Bill, what is wrong with your generation that you put this stuff on your TV show for the 5 million or so viewers of your show?

ThackerAgency on October 24, 2007 at 9:44 PM

O’Reilly cracks me up. He’s been going with a bunch of lighter segments lately.

BadgerHawk on October 24, 2007 at 9:45 PM

Ya know, I generally like O’Reilly, but he can be kind of a boor sometimes.

BILL! WE WATCH IT BECAUSE IT’S FUNNY!

Someone wealthy, beautiful, and held up as an object of admiration for her physical beauty FELL DOWN AN OBVIOUS HOLE. She didn’t get injured (not seriously, anyway) and she’s otherwise OK. THAT MAKES IT FUNNY.

In the same way that watching Larry, Moe and Curly is funny. In the same way that watching Jerry Lewis (YOUR generation Bill) do goofy stuff is funny. As MKH said, it’s slapstick, and it’s damn funny.

wearyman on October 24, 2007 at 10:13 PM

Plus we got to see a glimpse of underwear, this should not be discounted. Not one iota.

bbz123 on October 24, 2007 at 10:17 PM

It’s funny, right when I was saying ,”Thank God Geraldo didn’t come out here like he did to New Orleans……………..ah damn it.”

No people stuck on rooftops for him to moan about this time.

Seriously, I am going to have a party if Geraldo ever leaves FNC. It’s a joke that he still is on O’Reilly, but Michelle isn’t. I know that was Michelle’s call, and I wholeheartedly support her in that, but the guy brings nothing to the table whatsoever.

Hawkins1701 on October 24, 2007 at 10:30 PM

Several comments:

I went with my gut. I’m not sorry.

1) Thank you AP, just the description alone was bad enough.

2) I have a tremendous amount of respect for anyone who tries to explain anything involving technology to Bill O’Reilly.

3) MKH is gettin’ more provocative with the eye makeup… *growl*

infidel4life on October 24, 2007 at 10:34 PM

Bill’s been getting giddy around several of the girls lately. Can’t blame him I guess. I couldn’t think staight with MKH talking to me either. Only I wouldn’t interrupt her. And I’d actually listen to her. Of course, I’d be interested in what she was saying not having a show of my own and not thinking everyone is hanging on every word I say.

Griz on October 24, 2007 at 10:34 PM

MKH has a sweet job

jp on October 24, 2007 at 10:35 PM

This makes me wish Andrew Breitbart had his own hour long show on FNC that analyzed nothing but dumbass viral videos.

ScottMcC on October 24, 2007 at 10:47 PM

Please, please, please – stop with the pat on the OR back. I’m still cranky over his lack of spine in the whole MM, Geraldomundo “mr.spittoon” affair. Get a grip people, I’ve stopped watching OR for all the obvious reasons.

24K lady on October 24, 2007 at 10:51 PM

Dude, chill, Allah posts the weekly MKH segment, thats about it. I honestly only watch when Dennis Miller or MKH is on.

BTW, doriangrey is fine, he wrote in on the fire thread and responded to an email.

Bad Candy on October 24, 2007 at 11:13 PM

Scott, I hope they do that, right after they put RedEye on an earlier time.

Bad Candy on October 24, 2007 at 11:17 PM

Why don’t you all f-f-fade away
   (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)

And don’t try to dig what we all s-s-say

The Monster on October 24, 2007 at 11:47 PM

Apologies in advance;
Am I the only one that continues to have a boy-ish adolescent streak flowing right through me?
With regards to the falling model…I am not crude nor am I crass, however, I noticed that after she started pull herself up out of the hole…a little voice inside of me, a voice I thought I had grown out of screamed, I saw gutchies!!!…it’s not just me…tell me I wasn’t the only man who experienced the regressed kindergarten eagle-eye…

ColdBore76 on October 24, 2007 at 11:58 PM

Is there ever a time that MK is not smiling?

jjjen on October 25, 2007 at 12:52 AM

I watch this one all day.

http://hotair.com/archives/2007/10/18/video-the-obligatory-cockatoo-stomps-it-out-to-the-backstreet-boys-post/

I love the music.

I love the cockatoo.

slp on October 25, 2007 at 12:59 AM

Bill:

Good looking girl.

Hole.

Panties.

Ninjas.

You get that combo in a movie and you’ll make more than “Rendition”, “Lambs and Losers”, “Valley of the Eloi” and “Redacted” combined.

Counter question for Bill: why was Curly getting seltzer in his face funny?

Bill, even more baffling: why did millions of Deperession-Era folks think The Ritz Brothers were funny?

Cute Girl. Hole. Ninja. Panties.

That’s High Concept for Hollywood.

profitsbeard on October 25, 2007 at 1:21 AM

Just how out of touch is the BoR?

soundingboard on October 25, 2007 at 2:49 AM

Whenever BO talks tech I want to pull a StrongBad, as in

Head

Sometimes I worry about the older generation.

Many times, I worry about how soon I’ll be a part of them.

Please, please sit me at the kids table through eternity.

askheaves on October 25, 2007 at 4:25 AM

Three Stooges, Bill. Ever watch it? Your generation.

Good, clean fun. Nothing wrong with it. Why do people watch The Factor? For information AND entertainment. You said it yourself on Oprah when you were defending yourself and your show to an audience member that part of your show is entertainment.

You taking a vacation again, soon? Call Michelle to liven-up your set a bit in your absence.

Black Adam on October 25, 2007 at 4:27 AM

Mary Katharine endures all of BOR’s interruptions and boorishness with grace and with a smile.

She deserves her own show.

(and btw, BOR never lets ANYONE finish a sentence. He has guests on and talks over them. What is it with his generation anyway?)

Always Right on October 25, 2007 at 5:41 AM

i watched this show last night, it was hard to watch.
Bill really needs to let others finish talking for goodness sakes.
as stated above “its the underwear shot” bill…

trailortrash on October 25, 2007 at 7:16 AM

I love that growl of Mary Katherine’s near the end! That should be a ringtone.

Canadian Infidel on October 25, 2007 at 7:30 AM

Would be nice if O’Reilly would let her answer. He is a ass.

Wade on October 25, 2007 at 9:27 AM

I went with my gut. I’m not sorry.

And a Wise Choice it is!

Lawrence on October 25, 2007 at 9:51 AM

Bill, Bill…

You know why, you’re just teasing MKH.

Two reasons.
1. Pure slap-stick funny. (As MKH said.)
2. Some people just want to see her underpants.

What is not funny about a runway model not seeing a big hole in the floor and walking straight into it?

Lawrence on October 25, 2007 at 9:59 AM

I suspect BillO has no idea how many people, very close to his age, have clicked on a video of a robot humping a lava lamp.

Around here, the call for Humping Robots! seems to exceed even the call for More Cowbell!

eeyore on October 25, 2007 at 10:08 AM

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, O’Reilly is getting older, weirder and whiter everytime I watch the show. I started watching Bill since the beginning of “The Factor” and was a regular viewer, but I have been watching less and less as time goes on. He is very sanctimonious now and everything is about him. His association (fascination?) with Geraldo is a non-starter; when he has Dennis Miller on he suddenly thinks he is a comedian and won’t let the guy get his words in. Last night with MK was another example of weirdness and, to tell the truth, he wasted MK’s time.

yubley on October 25, 2007 at 12:12 PM

Has Bill never heard of schadenfreud?

TheSitRep on October 24, 2007 at 9:42 PM

Yup, I think Dennis Miller used the word as part of a joke in segment not to long ago, and then Miller had to explain to Bill what it meant. The Miller segments with the puzzled look by Bill as each word comes flying out of Dennis’ mouth has become my favourite.

greggish on October 25, 2007 at 12:32 PM

As much as I think highly of MKH’s work, these BoR segments where she is dragged out as the token Internet Blogspert are just painful.

She knows her stuff. She has grown up with this tech. Watching her explain it to BoR is as peepee-in-the-pool irritating as watching some kid explain the DVD controls to a senile grandpa.

Ochlan on October 25, 2007 at 2:06 PM

Talking over people is not a generational thing it’s bad manners owned by all generations. The BOR does excellent at it…one reason my viewing of his how has bottomed out, just about thru with him. Can’t believe a few conservative billionaires can’t get together and improve on Rupert’s Fair and Balanced idea.

oldernslower on October 25, 2007 at 2:18 PM

OR’s generation went to travelling carnivals to see the siamese twins, and other human mutations. It’s in all the best oldie cartoons. Besides. I was there.

williars on October 25, 2007 at 2:33 PM

MKH handled Bill O great. I agree the only reason GEN X and Y watch this stuff is they were deprived as children from being able to see the 3 Stooges, or understand the humor of Carrol Burnett, and Pinky Lee. Being deprived is a well known torture tactics of enemy countries.

Imagine what the relations would be if Kim Young Il would share his library of slapstick and other feature length famous films with the people he dictates.

MSGTAS on October 25, 2007 at 3:39 PM

I think most “normal” people like to see the bold and beautiful embarrass themselves. It brings a sense of the human element to even the celebrity-type.

He mustn’t be a big fan of the Marx Brothers.
