300 got people fired up enough to read what really happened so it did more good for historical education then anything out of Hollywood for the last 3 decades.

For example, test screenings of “The Kingdom” drew too much applause for the American’s ‘winning’ scenes and appropriate edits were made.

Frankly… we need more Team Americas.

You know, whenever I hear the words Spartan Armor, I always think of the MJOLNIR Mark V Combat Armor worn by the SPARTAN-II Super Soldiers of the HALO story-verse. But yes, the movie did take some severe liberties by ignoring the Naval Battle, the Athenean Army's ground Support, and the fact that the Spartans were the only troops on earth at the time strong enough to wear what may have been the heaviest combat armor of the period.... to put them in loincloths... How we went from Bronze-covered-colossi at the head of an army to 300 guys in loin-cloths... only frank miller knows for sure.

The book 1776 is an excellent read. I'd love to see it made into a movie. We came so close to the whole Revolution falling apart. The battle of Brooklyn/Long Island was no Thermopylae. Of course, I know it will never happen as American troops don't rape anyone.
