Buchanan:
Gravitating now to Rudy's camp are those inveterate opportunists, the neocons, who see in Giuliani their last hope of redemption for their cakewalk war and their best hope for a "Long War" against "Islamo-fascism."

I will, Rudy promises, nominate Scalias. Only one more may be needed to overturn Roe. And I will keep Hillary out of the White House.

A Giuliani presidency would represent the return and final triumph of the Republicanism that conservatives went into politics to purge from power. A Giuliani presidency would represent repudiation by the party of the moral, social and cultural content that, with anti-communism, once separated it from liberal Democrats and defined it as an institution.

Rudy offers the right the ultimate Faustian bargain: retention of power at the price of one's soul.

How far in debt is the Brownback campaign? I hope it doedn't come down to this.
What a stab in the back to his supporters. Guess what Allapundit, us social conservatives don't take marching orders from Brownback, Dobson, or anyone else. We can decide for ourselves who best represents ALL of our concerns, thankyouverymuch.

May I quote Ace of Spades here? The only caveat... ABC News. Are they turning on their "alternative choice?"

Rudy Giuliani, meanwhile, has decided to stop running for President of the United States and instead seems to be running for Mayor of Bizzarro-Ville.

Presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani hired a Catholic priest to work in his consulting firm months after the priest was accused of sexually molesting two former students and an altar boy and told by the church to stop performing his priestly duties.

“Brownback is very well-respected,” Baker added. “It would give a lot of social conservatives and evangelicals cover if they want to support Giuliani.”

Brownback would lose respect from many social cons if he endorsed Giuliani. The natural fit for his base is Huckabee.

OK, as long as we're on this topic....

If Rudy can accept an endorsement from Tommy Thompson (which caused barly a ripple in the fabric of spacetime) then he can accept an endorsement from ANY former rival... with the exception of RONPAUL... who will probably endorse Mike Gravel.

Tier 2 endorsements are like kissing your sister.... its the Tier 1 endorsements that are like kissing Heidi Klum.

Mary Katharine endures all of BOR's interruptions and boorishness with grace and with a smile.

She deserves her own show.

(and btw, BOR never lets ANYONE finish a sentence. He has guests on and talks over them. What is it with his generation anyway?)

Never been impressed with Brownback, so whether he endorses Rudy or not makes no difference. He (Brownback) lost all creds over illegal immigration, and just never made me at ease with the notion that he might be CIC.

This calls for a well placed *yawn*.

“Brownback is very well-respected,” Baker added. “It would give a lot of social conservatives and evangelicals cover if they want to support Giuliani.”

There is a lot of faith that people are just stupid. Why would this 'political science' professor believe that people 'want cover'? This endorsement doesn't change Rudy's positions.

Abortion is just ONE issue. Check out this statement in 2000 on SUING GUN MANUFACTURERS. He has an accused child molestor on his payroll.

Rudy seems like the mafia candidate. He's got some loyal following that he'll pay off in one way or the other 'making offers they can't refuse'. If Rudy didn't have these crony's he wouldn't stand a chance BECAUSE of his positions.

People don't want 'cover'. People want a candidate who represents their views. Rudy doesn't no matter who he gets for VP people won't be enthusiastic about him.

Rudy would do well to put as much distance as he can from switch-reswitchback. I just don't think they'll be able to separate the pro-life Sam from the amnesty Sam. It's a net loss because Rudy will appear as if he has caved on his unapoligetic history on abortion.

Senator <strike>Switch</strike> Brownback endorsing Rudy?
What! They have such differing positions on enforcing the laws regarding illegals and employing illegals!
NOT!!!

I like Tom and Fred's ideas much better.

Interesting. I didn't think a Brownback endorsement would make a ripple in the dynamics BUT if he did endorse Rudy, that might help shore up the defection concern.
