There’s a comforting thought, huh? The great hope of post-racial politics taking the baton from the high priest of perpetual racial grievance. Listen here; the ad will run on 36 gospel and R&B stations across South Carolina, according to CNN. Memo to the Messiah: The piano’s a bit much, don’t you think?
Exit question: Does this mean he’s no longer “acting white”? Whew!

Can’t we put this torch out?

The torch of endless playing of the race card? The torch of making a career out of exploiting the corporate version of white guilt? The torch of having built that career in the first place on exploitation of the blood of a true civil rights hero? Which torch are we talking about, exactly?
I’d think this would be the last thing Obama wants right now.

I, for one, say we can never have enough racial demagogues. I’ve been considering becoming one myself.

I voted for Jessie Jackson two decades ago..sniff.. sniff..Oh Boohoohoohooooo….I was a liberal and didn’t know any better..sniff…I’m…. sorry!!
Umm.. who the heck was that saying “Paid for by blah blah blah..” scared the crud outta me!
…and.. I’m still really really sorry I voted for Jessie.

You mean the race-pimping to get rich torch? Has Je$$e given that up?

Obama, yo mama.
‘Lou Dobbs voters’ will decide ‘08
By: Christopher Gacek
The GOP may not be able to adapt, either. The party depends on a donor base that wants to import cheap illegal labor while moving manufacturing jobs to lower-cost locales abroad. Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney have been weak on illegal immigration in the past. Romney seems to be taking a tougher line now, but on the “Glenn Beck” show recently, Giuliani defended his record supporting “sanctuary cities” in New York.
For both Democrats and Republicans, winning the Lou Dobbs voter would greatly increase the chances of victory in November 2008. The question becomes: Will either party make the necessary changes to reach for the brass ring?

Which Jackson is Obama-sama picking up the torch from? The pre-early 80s Jackson who was pro-life ( mostly because he played on fears of Blacks being disproportionally aborted as some sort of Negro Extermination Plot ) , or the Jackson-since-early-80s who became pro-choice to postiion himself to run for Prez?

I’ll never forget Jesse introducing his son. As he came up to the stage from the back of the crowd, Jesse said, “look at him, rising like sphinx from the ashes”!

Just in time for my White Guilt to set in!
He’s got my vote…. NOT!!!
Kini on October 23, 2007 at 11:23 PM
History will probably remember Jesse more for the “touch” than the “torch.”

Par for the Liberal course… We’ll not see an end to the race-baiting poverty pimping in our lifetimes… Unless of course, the Left wins enough elections to eventually allow the Taliban and al Quaeda their opportunity to purge us of all Liberals. THEN we could simply rise up against the terror-wielding tyrants, uninhibited by Liberal obstruction and treachery, and take back our free country and freedoms… Let’s start hiding weapons and building secret bases from which to deliver our blows. We could call the coming of terrorists and the beginning of our plight, “Black Dawn”…

Michelle Obama better hope that “torch” doesn’t include having affairs and fathering illegitimate kids, and then using tax-exempt “donations” to keep the moms quiet.
ReubenJCogburn on October 24, 2007 at 12:29 AM
Does this mean Obama used to spit in the food at the Country Club he worked at when he was younger?
harrison on October 24, 2007 at 6:07 AM
Was this torch given up willingly?
Something tells me that as far as Jesse would be concerned, they’d have to pry it from his cold, dead hands
ToddonCapeCod on October 24, 2007 at 7:36 AM
Oh please . . . go away, and take your torch with you.
rplat on October 24, 2007 at 7:52 AM
The next time someone wonders how Ted Kennedy or John Kerry gets elected, take it to the next level and ponder Turd Jr. being part of Congress.
All part of the deconstructive philosophy of the United States.

If Obama takes JJ’s torch, I offer my condolences.
That’s OK. None of us have lived perfect lives. I voted for Bill Clinton in 1992, mainly because I was dissatisfied with George Bush The Elder. Then my dissatisfaction with Mr. Bill led me back to my conservative roots. So you see, there’s always hope.
Bigfoot on October 24, 2007 at 8:36 AM
So, Obama will become America’s next race baiter, right?
madmonkphotog on October 24, 2007 at 8:58 AM
Never mind a torch, he will need a ten trillion megawatt searchlamp to find his way out of the political forest he is in right now.
As a black man, the spectacle of a white woman ( Hilary ), and a half-white man ( Obama ) competing for the mantle of who is the blackest, is quite amusing.
Liberal Democrat politics at it’s best.
RMR on October 24, 2007 at 9:01 AM
I guess JJ Jr. wasn’t dumb enough to pick up the torch himself. Black race-baiting demagogues are so 20th century.
JiangxiDad on October 24, 2007 at 9:06 AM
Talk about the kiss of death! I have yet to meet a person that feels that Jesse is a positive influence on the black culture. Most agree that he had the opportunity to do much good, but squandered it, while others just see him as a pimp in the black community.
Pam on October 24, 2007 at 9:19 AM
you forgot bitter! Could you please reword your sentence to add bitter? :)
Pam on October 24, 2007 at 9:20 AM
Hmm CNN link is gone now. Was working before.
Dash on October 24, 2007 at 9:43 AM
Heh.
Jaibones on October 24, 2007 at 11:22 AM
Wow. What does JJ,Jr have against Obama to say such a thing?
tgillian on October 24, 2007 at 11:24 AM
ROFLMAO! Does that mean the lol -reverend- will go away now? Oh please, oh please!!
dogsoldier on October 24, 2007 at 12:29 PM
Does that mean Obama will start shaking down corporations with threats of bogus racial complaints like Jesse Jackson so he can get free beer distributorships and McDonald’s franchises like Jesse has? I thought it was Al Sharpton who had taken up Jackson’s shakedown torch.
