Audio: Rush Limbaugh on Dingy Harry, SCHIP, and what Hillary’s qualified to do

H&C had him on to talk about the bonanza but he worked up a head of steam and, god love ‘em, they let him run with it. I don’t know what he might have said here that warrants the Enlightened Finger-Wag of Shame but rest assured that Media Matters and Think Progress will be letting us know tomorrow. Exit question: Does Reid really care what Rush is doing with the letter? The point of sending it wasn’t to cow him into silence, it was simply to reassure the nutroots that the Democrats share their outrage towards all things wingnut and are willing to sign their names to manufactured controversies to demonstrate that fact. David Brock’s boys dropped a turd in a box and Dingy Harry gift-wrapped it for them in Senate letterhead. If Rush wants to recycle the paper, well, that’s no business of Reid’s.
Update: This is some recycling effort.

The irony is wonderful!
Congrats to Rush for being able to turn this into something more than political arguing. He is a bigger man because of it.
chrissv on October 18, 2007 at 10:11 PM
He was too nice to Colms, should have just laughed at him, pointed. too.
bbz123 on October 18, 2007 at 10:14 PM
Yes for that exact same reason. The nutroots is going to pull their hair out over this and put pressure on Reid as well.
bj1126 on October 18, 2007 at 10:16 PM
Instead he just destroyed what Colmes said. Did you hear Colmes comeback to Rush? Either I was experiencing technical difficulties, or Colmes was on the floor trying to find his teeth, because I didn’t hear anything.
smellthecoffee on October 18, 2007 at 10:22 PM
Yeah, because Rush one-upped Reid, and the fightin’ fightin’ Nutroots are gonna want an escalation.

Absolutely brutal with his answer to Colmes Hillary question.
As to the exit question: if he doesn’t care now, he will once the nutroots get their claws into him for giving us more ammunition to use again them.
I am very curious to see who finally ends up with the document, and the drama that may ensue after it is purchased.
Someone has bigger plans for that letter, and we get to watch as it either hits the target or gets rammed back down their throats. What fun!

Amen Rush!
Rush has a higher approval rating in Nevada than Reid.

“all things wingnut”? Limbaugh is a wingnut?
Janos Hunyadi on October 18, 2007 at 10:50 PM
No, you didn’t miss anything. Colmes was looking for his teeth.
Needless to say, Colmes is no match for Rush, not even close. So when Rush is on the show, Colmes ought to do himself a favor and lay low… even though Rush keeps half his brain tied behind his formerly nicotine-stained little body.
petefrt on October 18, 2007 at 10:53 PM
Why can’t we have elected officials who stand up to the leftists this way? How come the republicans don’t have people designated to listen to the nutjob speaches on the floor of the House and in the Senate and who immediately respond in a manner like this? The msm would be terrified to put the psycho left pols and thier bs speaches on the evening news if they knew they were refuted and beat down immediately by a conservative congressman or senator. Instead they make thier wacko speaches and they are played over and over again without any counter point.
peacenprosperity on October 18, 2007 at 11:00 PM
Oh, that’s gotta sting. It isn’t easy to paint Rush into a corner, is it?1
Make that nigh impossible.
Bob's Kid on October 18, 2007 at 11:00 PM
That wasn’t fair to Hillary. She has more skill than that. She’s very good a bookkeeping (Rose Law firm records, kept them hidden for years), hide & seek (going through Vince Foster’s office), greeting guests (”Hello Ms. Brodderick, thank you for supporting my husband”), and interfaith discussions (”Paul Fray, you f—ing Jew bastard!”)…and so many more important skills for a president.

Exit Question: Does Harry Reid really care…..
Exit Answer: Does Harry Reid really know WTF is reality and what is just the bullsh!t he is being fed by Soros et al?

I found that segment totally surreal.
Rush was explaining how his words are twisted out of context by the various players on the other side, and every time Colmes had his turn to talk, he forwarded those very same contextless snippets as a rebuttal.
Rush was very kind to him.
ShoreMark on October 18, 2007 at 11:04 PM
I’ve been listening to Rush off and on since about the early 90’s, and I have to say that (IMO) he is hitting his stride right now as to both his ability to brilliantly analyze the current political landscape, and his ability to succinctly communicate what is going on to his listeners in understandable language. Along with radio hosts like Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, John Ziegler, and others, I would respectfully submit that this is the golden age of talk radio.
infidel4life on October 18, 2007 at 11:04 PM
There was a time when a Senator’s words were held in high esteem. Today’s do nothing Senate once again got owned by a conservative.
Rush made the pertinent comment today about how a supposedly lame duck President continues to run roughshod on Congress. That must have left a mark.
All of the liberals in America will be feeling ill when the once main stream media is forced to finally report this story due to Rush getting, then matching, over a million bucks for the Liberal Senators libelous document.
DannoJyd on October 18, 2007 at 11:07 PM
Rush said it all in the first few words! There is no reason to be afraid of these people!

I love it, and I absolutely love the fact that Rush is making an example of Harry Greed’s signed letter. This is political, and comedy, GOLD! Let ‘em have it! When you think about the bunch of morons who came up with a signed letter denouncing a radio pundit, you really have to wonder about their sanity. How paranoid must they be? How unprofessional and, frankly, un-Senatorial, are those who fear a popular radio commentator? They are (forgive the obvious) elected officials, yet they cower in the face of anyone who challenges them. How fitting, for a party of failures.
thedecider on October 18, 2007 at 11:38 PM
Mrs. Clinton hasn’t done diddley squat except manage bimbo eruptions for 35 years.
I’m hoping they do run with that segment so we are all reminded that that’s all she has done. Then we (and John Boehner) can turn around and remind everyone just how she did it.
Who is John Ziegler? I nevah heard of him.

And I have to add, the only reason Hillary seems inevitable is because the mainstream media and Hillary’s supporters tell us she is. Even when Bill Clinton ran,, he never had a tough challenger. The first Bush never really put up a fight. I remember in the debates Bill Clinton would say the most ridiculous things and President Bush would not even respond. Then Bob Dole. What a joke that was. And now Hitlery. I have always been amazed at how some think of her as this unbeatable candidate. If she was so unbeatable, why is she so protected?? The Clintons are used to being protected and having challengers that “promise to stay positive.” I think we would all be amazed at how their whole campaign would fall apart,, Hillary included,, if they had a real challenger. Even a half baked challenger that was tough and put up a good campaign. So much of who the Clintons are is based on people cooperating with the perceptions they have created for themselves.

I haven’t watched the above clip yet… but I just wanted to point out that Rush asked Dingy to match (as Rush will) the sale price, for his donation.
Anyway, what bothers me about this letter (and Reid’s statements) is him calling Rush “unpatriotic”… Yet despite the fact that prominent conservatives have almost NEVER gone as far as to call the Dems unpatriotic (even though they’re far worse, they’re evil, and I’m not overstating it), the Dems always flip out “How dare you question our patriotism!” No one said anything about patriotism, but they get defensive and lose their minds over it.
Then we have Harry Reid who said the war is lost WHILE TROOPS ARE IN HARMS WAY!!! Even if you thought he was right, he ought to have been tossed out of office for that s***, and he’s got the balls to flat out use the word “unpatriotic” (again, something prominent conservatives almost never do… I can’t think of an example) when talking about Rush? And I’m not even getting in to other signatories (i.e. Durbin “The Gitmo guards are Nazis”, etc.)
Anyway, good for Rush. I guess I have to look at the positive, because these evil POS Democrats are really just unbelievable at this point. Did you all hear Pete Stark today? http://michellemalkin.com/2007/10/18/house-showdown-the-s-chip-veto-override-vote/
Needless to say, he got an email… the contents of which would have me banned here.

From 1.3 to 2 million in just minutes? Wow! What happened to wait-til-the-last-5-minutes?
And what are the chances that the purchaser is soros or some other dim? Yes, I know: the charity gets the donation regardless. Other than that, though – any thoughts?

One thing is for sure, everyone, but everyone, is going to be talking about this tomorrow at work.
bnelson44 on October 19, 2007 at 12:39 AM
Ugh, that’s a depressing thought… because Soro’s could throw away 2 million and it wouldn’t mean anything to him… and it would be just like him to do that, just to be an ass, when you know he wouldn’t donate to the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation otherwise. Anyway, I hope that’s not the case, but you raising that possibility is a little depressing.

Unreal. That’s a hell of a lot of premium aromatic first and second hand cigar smoke.
infidel4life on October 19, 2007 at 12:41 AM
Sorry to take just one small segment of your post, but this one really digs at me. We’re talking about the Senate Minority Leader telling our troops that, basically, their mission is hopeless, and they’re fighting a lost cause. Honestly, there’s no other way to interpret his words than this. It’s exactly what he meant, and he had no concern for how it would be interpreted by men and women who are overseas fighting for our country. Is this man really qualified to be a “leader” in any sense? I think not. He deserves to be shunned!
thedecider on October 19, 2007 at 12:43 AM
Plus, Rush has pledged to match the winning bid, and has called on the Filthy Forty-One to do so as well. (Maybe they could split the tab 41 ways.)
The Monster on October 19, 2007 at 12:48 AM
Rush is awesome. I don’t get a chance to listen to him much, but he deserves every bit of success he’s had.
Splashman on October 19, 2007 at 12:50 AM
I’d be disappointed if it was Soros, but on the other hand, that would mean that Rush got Soros to cough up $2+ mil (or whatever it ends up to be) for a cause that he would never ever have contributed to otherwise. (Because it’s good for America, and that goes against everything Soros and the rest of the libs stand for.) Not a bad day’s work for Rush when you look at it that way. Plus all that money can no longer be used by the Left to destroy everything America stands for.
ReubenJCogburn on October 19, 2007 at 12:52 AM
Hilarious man! Good job!
Exactly! I’m not as witty and eloquent as you guys, but I enjoyed those comments and many others here. I respect and enjoy Rush and his show but it is too dang long. His problem is that he is so effectively good that he makes his points very efficiently in a few sentences, and then hits that same point repeatedly after some of us has got it, but obviously others need to hear it again.
I like Levin for many of the reasons I like Rush. But Levin also has some serious educational skills on constitutional law and such. Also Levin destroys liberal callers like no one else and there is nothing better (or funnier) than those few gems during his show.
nottakingsides on October 19, 2007 at 1:11 AM
If Mrs. Clinton doesn’t have the courage to show Bill the gate for cheating on her, how is she going to manage finding the courage to face down enemies of America?
Since Bill is an American enemy, I guess we already know the answer.
Speakup on October 19, 2007 at 1:18 AM
Exactly… that’s why I say he should be thrown out of office. And he’s not the only one. But then, there’s Pete Stark just today saying that Bush sends “kids” to Iraq to get blown up for his “amusement” today. That SOB ought to be locked up. He’s not some scarf wearing Truther at a rally in San Francisco, he’s a f-ing congressman, and I’m sick of allowing these evil people to say these things, while playing victims of partisanship. It’s crap like this that makes me want to backhand John Stewart for his idiotic pestering of Snow the other night, insisting that Bush is responsible for partisanship. Tony should have just sat and listed the BS from the Dems, but I guess he’s “above” that.

Mojave Mark on October 19, 2007 at 1:57 AM
It is infuriating that it takes a radio talk show host to tell the truth about the Democrats, while nearly every single elected Republican sits passively and silently in fear of their adolescent name-calling. They will mutter “Way to go, Rush” to themselves, then continue the saccharine, counter productive New Tonism that concedes “good intentions” to traitorous, socialist, Stockholm-syndrome Dems. I vomit on their cowardice. Hats off, Rushbo.
Halley on October 19, 2007 at 1:59 AM
I know I’m one who needs to hear those points repeated, because many times the truths about liberalism that Rush is explaining are not necessarily obvious, and need to be reiterated from time to time. Especially considering the lefty bias we are bombarded with daily.
infidel4life on October 19, 2007 at 2:03 AM
Reid, Pelosi, and their “SCHIP of Fools” are outmatched and outclassed.
They’d be better off cutting their losses now, but you just know they’ll not be able to resist the temptation to step in it again and again!!

Since Bush is a lame duck, theoretically, and doesn’t have to worry about re-election, why not have Rush and Levin alternate as White House Press Secretary? I can hear Levin now, “let me educate you, you moron”.
Imagine David Gregory cowering in the corner behind Helen Thomas. As Flounder would say, “This is GREAT!”
A fella can dream, can’t he?

This is something that has always annoyed me. My father always said that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, and the older I get, the more people prove him right.
The way I see it, you’re allowed credit for good intentions the first time you screw up, but after you’ve been shown that the actual effect of your policy isn’t what you intended, if you continue to support that policy, you lose that allowance.
Of course, to a leftist, his policies are never responsible for any ill effects. It’s always some racist/sexist/homophobe/robber baron/etc. at fault. By that they mean that their policies would work great to govern a mythical species that shares their good intentions, in a universe where wishing something were true made it so. But here in reality (on which they ironically claim they are “based”) actual humans don’t behave the way their policies demand, which dooms them to produce those unintended consequences.
The Monster on October 19, 2007 at 9:26 AM
AllahP, you sure know how to turn a phrase.
KelliD on October 19, 2007 at 10:22 AM
Brutal.
ColmesSkeletor had about as much chance as a high-school JV player thrown into an NFL game – lucky to get off the field alive!Sadly, this won’t be the last battle, but for now, the Soros left is getting its nose bloodied. Pwn3d by Rush, who has demonstrated that it’s not necessary to quietly accept the crap constantly dished out by the left. Republican congress-critters and the White House need to take note, and grow some malkins.
The “drive-by media” (another great Rush phrase) have done a great job thus far of sitting on this story and keeping it out of the news; Fox is the only one covering the story (outside of talk radio and the blogosphere). Actually, THAT should be a major story all by itself.
bofh on October 19, 2007 at 10:47 AM
I know it’s risky, but I am going to try and defend Colmes a bit here.
First, there is no doubt that Limbaugh is in a completely different category than Colmes (or, for that matter, Hannity). Limbaugh sets the standard for the genre. I don’t think Colmes treated him badly…in fact, in my view, it was fair of him to give Rush a chance to respond to the criticisms that had been made (the 1:30 minute edit, the “attack” on a 12 year old etc). I was happy to hear the Rushman knock those out of the park.
Secondly,Colmes has to take difficult positions from time to time…it’s his role on the show (just as Hannity occasionally ends up having to defend the indefensible). I think that the segment would have been completely unsatisfying had Colmes not raised some of the criticisms. It would have looked too much like a set-up interview (like a Clinton on Hardball, for example) and also a bit weak (after all, I have confidence that Rush can handle this stuff). And Colmes structured the questions so that Rush had a fair chance to answer.
There are a lot of left-wing nutjobs that would love to be able to take a run at the guests on H&C. I think that, when you look at who COULD be there, Alan Colmes does a pretty good job. From time to time he gets upset, and often drives me up the wall with whacko and repetitive arguments, but he is generally civil. I think he was quite courteous to Limbaugh, and rightfully so.
And Limbaugh, in turn was courteous to him, as always.
Just my two pesos worth…
