And what kind of pathetic hero worshiping bottom dwelling democrat voters would call the shelter and make death threats?

Oh yea, I answered my own question. Democrat voters.

Ellen DeGenerous’ side is not the only one, obviously. The agency’s lawyer said last night on the Greta show that the agency had asked the new family to call/come in to re-write the contract, etc. and that they refused, the commotion and all other having taken over by Ellen’s goons…Hard to know what happened at which minute. I tend to think that the women at the agency hardened their take after the TMZ and the threats were called, or took place.

An elitist hollywood nutjob thinks she can do anything she wants. Her hairstylist thinks because she works for an elitist hollywood nutjob she can do anything she wants. Everyone throws a tantrum when they discover they can't do anything they want.

When I first heard the story my immediate thought was why doesn't the hairdresser just go down, explain the situation and go through the process to adopt the dog. Ellen, if she was rational, would have apologized and helped, including spending a little more of her millions to expedite the process. Instead spoiled pampered delusional hollywood nutjob throws a tantrum. Next thing they will be claiming the treatment is because she's a lesbian.

The shelter has to follow their rules this and every time or the rules would lose credibility and enforcability--no exceptions--not even Ellen. I like Ellen who is a true animal advocate whom I admire for her efforts on their behalf, just wrong in this particular case.

In all of it I only care about the dog.

Entelechy on October 18, 2007 at 3:12 PM

Ditto.

I have a coonhound who is my constant companion. We adopted him from the U of Penn Veterinary Research Hospital six years ago. They used dogs for medical research. Sadly, their experimentation involved attempting to breed genetic defects into the dogs, later to be studied and treated as part of their research. If the pups were found to be free of defects, they were of no use to them, so they would either adopt them out, or if they couldn't find any takers, they would put them down.

When we caught wind of this, we called to see if we could adopt one of the pups. Not long after, they called us and we drove about an hour to the Hospital to pick up our little guy. He was eight weeks old, and never experienced anything outside of his small cage in a lab. We grabbed him up, signed all the necessary papers and promptly introduced him to his new found freedom. (He puked about seven times during the car ride home - cages are stationary, ya know.)

We had to sign a paper stating we could never return him to the Hospital if things didn't work out. Point was, they would not let an "outside" dog back into their sterile environment. That possibility never entered the picture once we got that pup out of the building.

We've spoiled him rotten and he loves it. Blind devotion works both ways.

That's my dog story.

Regards,

One day maybe people will start to care about people more than they do about dogs….NAH! I love my mutt shelter dog btw.

RW Wacko on October 18, 2007 at 11:00 AM

Nice recovery there, RW Wacko.

fogw, one of my favorite sayings too.

Dread Pirate Roberts, and I say this with a smile bud, your comment was a little too as-inine, at 2:23 PM.

What's wrong with you people! On day one she admitted that she paid her Vet to take the dog home so it could sleep with the Vet in his/her bed!

So Michael Jackson got pissed, called the "Adoption Agency", ratted them out, and is now sleeping with the dog himself!

Sorry for scooping O"Really"!

Only two queens could get this upset over a stinking dog! "Adopted" my butt!!!

Want to start a fight?

State this: "This is why gays can't be trusted with children, they can't even adopt a dog without messing up its life and everyone's around it."

And now Ellen has to rely on a conservative talk host from Fox to bail her out.

The irony...

Everyone calm down. I just heard on the radio that Bill O'Reilly has some secret tape that is going to break this case wide open, so we can all relax until tonight.

I'm not even kidding.

Ellen signed a contract. That she didn't read it is her own stupid fault. These organizations have rules for well-established reasons.

For example- what's to stop anyone from adopting one of these animals and then sell it to a drug company for live experimentation?

People need to stop looking at this in terms of what they THINK is right vs. what could happen and consider exactly why things are they way they are.

All DeGeneres' self-absorbed whining has now resulted in the woman running the organization receiving death threats.

DeGeneres is just another sniveling celebrity who needs nothing so much as a smack across the forehead.

I have been curious as to why the family of the girls gave Iggy back. I don’t think I would have. Did Mutts and Moms have the right to do such a thing to a third party? What right did they have to invade a home? Mutts and Moms sounds rather appalling in the way they handled this. It’s more than just a dog issue, IMO.

I agree, how does this outfit get so much power. Is there an absolute moral authority card that gives them to right to repossess a dog that they have sold? Sounds like grounds for a fancy lawsuit to me.

Did Mutts and Moms have the right to do such a thing to a third party? What right did they have to invade a home? Mutts and Moms sounds rather appalling in the way they handled this. It’s more than just a dog issue, IMO.

If Ellen legally adopted it, and she gives it away, how can someone take it from the 3rd party. Maybe they can sue Ellen, but no way they get the dog from the 3rd part legally. Don’t think so, anyway.

The way I understand it is that the dog wasn't registered with Ellen yet. So legally, the dog wasn't hers at the time. Otherwise they might not have been able to take the dog back. I don't know.

From what I've seen, they didn't.

They were told to fill out an application to be able to keep the dog and were told an inspection of the house would be needed, and that's when the Mutts and Moms people took the dog.

And as it turns out, it was the hairdresser's family who called the police, not Mutts and Moms.

But since the chip still said the dog belonged to Mutts and Moms even though it should have said the dog belonged to Ellen, the cops let them take the dog.

There's video of the whole thing on the link Allah provided.

The whole weeping/sobbing meltdown would have been a lot more compelling if I hadn't read that her show is taped, not live.

Wonder how many takes it took to get the tears just right...

Was that the dog that mugged the air America chick? Or did Ellen mug the AA chick because of the dog maybe? I haven't really been keeping up with this stuff lately but I do agree that if you can't even adopt a dog right you have no business adopting a kid (gay or not).

11 and 13 year old's were deemed not to be a positive situation for the dog, per the shelter. In addition the hairdresser was antagonistic towards the shelter rep. Bottom line, the shelter has a duty and a right to match the dog with the correct family. I find it humorous to see people tout what " they are supposed to do" regarding a stupid dog, but can't extend said philosophy to support Mr. Brossard's cutting down of the Mexcian flag.

I know I’d never adopt an animal from them, even though they were legally right and Ellen’s response was waaaayyy over the top. I just really don’t think the shelter people were acting in the dog’s best interest, which is what they’re supposed to be about. Just a bad PR decision to be such sticklers about the contract. As I said yesterday, the shelter could have easily turned this into a positive, educational PR event if they had been a tad less stubborn.

The shelter tells a different story. There lawyer was on all the shows last night. They claim they tried to get the hairdresser in to talk to her and fill out paperwork and they refused. Said they were keeping the dog and to leave them alone. Ellen's publisist called them threatening action and to take it public if they did anything but leave the dog in the new women's home. Then Ellen's lawyer called.

At this point they were tired of it and took the dog back. If you rescue dogs you have a special pride in placing these dogs in good homes. If you can't confirm that you have, you are a crappy rescue shelter.

If the truth is somewhere in the middle, the shelter wanted the dog in a proper home, they couldn't confirm that, so now they have by placing it in a cooperative less looney situation.

I've been wondering this too. When Ellen gave the agency money -- and got the dog in return -- the deal is complete. I don't understand how they can legally take the dog back from the other family. Regardless of what it says in the contract -- I don't think such a position is legal. Anyway, I heard that the agency showed up at the hairdresser's house with local police officers. I love my dog (and all my previous animals) with my whole heart, and they would have to show up with a warrant to take her away from me.
