It wasn’t hard to see how the SCHIP “debate” would go after this near-parody of the left’s victim fetish hit YouTube two weeks ago. I’m waiting now for the inevitable GOP response ad featuring an Iraqi kid, an American flag in one hand and a big rainbow lollipop in the other, begging Nancy Pelosi please not to take the nice soldiers who are protecting him away. Here’s MM chatting with Gibby about the last 10 days or so and what it’s like to receive the Enlightened Finger-Wag of Shame simultaneously from every last nut in Nutrootsville. I recommend re-reading this old post before you listen so that you might better appreciate how coolly dispassionate are our leftist superiors in advocating their policy positions.
Gallup’s got a new poll out today on SCHIP, incidentally. As in all things, the public trusts Congress more than Bush. But ask them about the particulars of the competing plans and how interestingly do the numbers change…

Yeah, and if some lefty commentator like, oh, I dunno, say Randi (slip, thud, ouch my toof) Rhodes had zeroed in on a family scamming the govt outta social welfare money she’d be venerated as a hero for catching the evil doers taking money meant for ‘poor’ families. But don’t let Malkin do it, ’cause then the family becomes a victim of the capitalist American system and the eeeeevil right wing is needlessly attacking them.

Here’s some important reading on S chip, dare we look at the facts. As one who is used to laying critical eyes on such data, look at each line not for what it obviously says, but where those statements lead with or without intention. It is quite valuable work. One most important conclusion is somewhere on page 13 which states (paraphrasing) that the more uninsured such programs attempt to reach, the larger the crowding out factor.
Therein lies the blatant pay for political power by the left.

The move on crowd has released their latest ad on the SCHIP program about little Bethany (you know the one the vetted a whole lot better) and are using her who all know is qualified under the old program and has absolutely zip to do with the impact of the proposed expansion and then tries to frame it as a guns or butter approach of childrens health care v Iraq spending.
All spin no substantive argument of any kind about the merits of the new improved program or what it supposed to accomplish.
The left is in a full court press against the by their words “bush dog dems” who sold them out to vote against SCHIP. So far they claim to have turned 3 of 5 around via paid phone solicitations to democrat voters in the districts.
The talk over on the left is all just pure spin and most are linking the Media Matters mantra of Rush sliming the troops (btw which they still stand by and are still actively supporting) and MM and Mitch McConnel’s staff are being twisted to be sliming the Frost’s and the message is almost uniform across the left side blogs and pundits.
I have yet to see any of them engage in any thought or debate of what the expansion is supposed to accomplish.
They simply plan to carry the day solely on the basis of rage and indignation without any substance plus the usual it feels good mantra.
