In defense of these employers, I’m sure that they took the money saved on health insurance, and passed it on to their employees. (sarc.)

I agree. And I am a staunch capitalist, “free markets” guy too.

Many, particularly the Wall Street Journal type, forget that Capitalism in a moral vacuum does not work long-term. It degenerates into greed and amorality, and amorality cannot exist for long without degenerating deeper, and spiraling downward into immorality.

Look at the illegal immigration issue and employers.

US employers know that they can knowingly fire US citizens, and hire illegals who will work for lower wages with no benefits. And these same US employers then point the illegal alien into the direction of the local Emergency Room for all of their outpatient, non-critical and non-urgent healthcare needs. The hospital suffers financially, and raises its prices, and eventually closes its doors.

It just blows my mind how many people don’t believe it either.

I can understand cops not stopping people solely to inquire about immigration status (racial profiling and all that), but not reporting those they catch for other crimes, including relatively minor ones? A freakin insane policy that has cost lives.

AZ businesses are already complaining about the mass exodus of cheap labor.

They are just fortunate that William Tecumseh Sherman does not come back from “retirement” and burn their plantations to the ground.

Hell, I thought the same thing for California. Why not use Arpaio’s “tent city” idea when rounding up illegal immigrants?

In fact, here in California one of the state representatives, the name I forget, proposed initiating a state border patrol agency whose sole purpose would be to enforce immigration law! This was several years ago, however and I’m sure it’s gone to the wind by now since I haven’t heard anything about it since then.

But that’s OK, rather than enforcing the law, the state government, including the Governator, thinks its more important to eliminate discriminating terms like “Mother and Father” or “parents” from the public school system. By the way, under this new law, SB 777, your gender is defined as whatever you feel like. This means that if I am a guy that believes I am more of a woman I am allowed to go into either a woman’s bathroom or locker room and use the facilities! The same the other way around. Gender is now completely subjective by law! All in the name of discrimination! Boo reason! Yay Socialism!

By the way, this law also mandates that homosexuality, heterosexuality, and transgenderism be taught with equal emphasis from all levels of public school. Isn’t it comforting to know your kindergarten-age kids will get prime access to this garbage!

I can’t wait to finish my degree and get the hell out of this state! In 2010, I will emigrate back to the US and I will be happy!
