Book: Hillary spent election night 2004 at Soros’s party

Just a little extra gloss to Limbaugh’s comments on Fox & Friends this morning. I’m trying to think of a right-wing analog to this but there’s really no “Soros niche” on our side, is there? Once upon a time Richard Mellon Scaife might have qualified but no more. Pat Robertson or James Dobson might evoke the same visceral reaction among liberals as Soros does among conservatives, but when push comes to shove they’re just two among a galaxy of evangelical leaders. Soros is a singular presence.

Anyway, remember: he may be of the far left but she’s, ahem, a centrist. They just hang out together sometimes, like during momentous elections. Repeat that to yourself the next time you get a little panicky at the thought of him somewhere on the dais on Inauguration Day.

FYI, she’s plucked another idea from her pile of a million or so that the country can’t afford, but good news: we can afford this one. All we have to do is have Congress scale back tax shelters and make sure that the cost doesn’t wildly exceed her estimate. What could go wrong?

And people thought Bush and Halliburton were close, jeez

Ailes? Regnery? Maybe that Qwest guy in Colorado?

I don’t guess anyone’s ready to jump in there.

see-dubya on October 16, 2007 at 1:34 PM

Yeah, Ailes isn’t bad. Murdoch’s even better.

Allahpundit on October 16, 2007 at 1:36 PM

That photo of her on the front page for this thread is the scariest thing I have ever seen. It captures her true essence perfectly.

LegendHasIt on October 16, 2007 at 1:37 PM

But Mordoch is a Hillary supporter. How much of a right wing Sauros can he be?

pedestrian on October 16, 2007 at 1:38 PM

It’s like Tancredo in a wig.

see-dubya on October 16, 2007 at 1:39 PM

No, the closest guy to Soros on the Right is Bob Perry of Houston, who financed the Swift Boat vets and pumped about $5 million into Republican races in 2006.

But to be in Soros’s league, he’d have to 1) quadruple his contributions; 2) find four other people to pony up $20 million apiece; and 3) have an agenda to undermine American democracy.

I’d be OK with 1 & 2, but Perry’s too nice a guy for 3.

Here’s a little info about Bob Perry.

She’s got da crazy eyes !

Channeling Eleanor, I guess.

locomotivebreath1901 on October 16, 2007 at 1:45 PM

…turn around, bright eyes….

I can’t wait to quit working 12 hour days for myself, living modestly so I can save for retirement and pay for my health insurance and let the government take care of me! Where do I sign up?

P.S. Typical liberal thinking – the solution to every problem is to throw money at it.

Ann on October 16, 2007 at 2:12 PM

It was as if all the Democrats in Washington had spontaneously combusted.

Sweet!

May they combust again in ‘08, in spite of the Soros billions. Hopefully the Americans are still not for sale. If they are, they deserve her.

Even if the costs don’t exceed her estimates, what about the toll of the economy. By subsidizing people to NOT work, they WON’T work. Expanding the FMLA is a bad idea that would weaken all industries, by encouraging people to be less productive.

What’s next? Government decreases the amount of hours in a work week and mandates that everyone take August off?

krabbas on October 16, 2007 at 2:14 PM

Sure, George Soros may set up a permanent residence in the Lincoln Bedroom if Hillary wins, but better that happening than me compromising my principles and voting for a baby killer like Rudy. I will sleep the sleep of the just and pure while Hillary sets up a 6-3 liberal majority on the Supreme Court.

I love it. And since we’re on a little bit of a Rush role, here, might I point out that this, too, has been The Great One’s mantra for 20 years. Using LibLogic, there’s no way to project the cost of a social program, because there’s never a limit to how high we can go.

When the congress passed the (unpaid) Family and Medical Leave Nonsense Act, Rush was the first (I suppose) to assure us that it would only remain unpaid until the Dems gained a greater foothold, and then they would a) push to make it a paid leave, and b) expand the beneficiaries.

Voila.

Like he says: you can’t make this stuff up.

Jaibones on October 16, 2007 at 2:21 PM

So, next year, with the FMLA expansion passed, why would we not expand it to include pets, dear friends, health care insurance coverage for same, government medical payments for same, etc.? These are all legitimate concerns and costs for working families, are they not?

Jaibones on October 16, 2007 at 2:24 PM

It looks like she’s sucking the life out of that woman in the screencap.

BadgerHawk on October 16, 2007 at 2:34 PM

Looks like a scene out of Scanners.

Again.

James on October 16, 2007 at 2:38 PM

Is there a good write up someplace of just how much power Soros actually wields?

bnelson44 on October 16, 2007 at 2:40 PM

We better watch out. It looks like the electorate just might be stupid enough to vote this woman POTUS. What next, Rosie?

saiga on October 16, 2007 at 2:57 PM

It looks like some kind of Vulcan nerve pinch.

CurtZHP on October 16, 2007 at 3:00 PM

Of course, her attendance was in a “private citizen” capacity, not as a power hungry she-devil.

madmonkphotog on October 16, 2007 at 6:23 PM

She looks like she’s doing an alien mind meld on that woman… ” You will vote for me. You will love and adore me… I Shrillary Clinton am your master! ” (Evil cackling in backround)

saiga on October 16, 2007 at 2:57 PM

Nah. I bet Rosy the Cow gets SecDef.

As for someone on the right being analogous to Comrat Soros, there is no one even close.

Yeah there are those who contribute to campaigns and might fund a couple other activities, but Soros has been spreading cash to just about any hate-America-first group in existence…along with numerous defeatocrats.
