Pretty standard stuff that all Marines learn at SOI (School Of Infantry) The grunts Are assigned to the infantry training battalion (ITB), and the POG’s go to the Marine Combat battalion (MCT). The difference is that the grunts get more in depth training.

Licensed truck driver for the 7-ton, 5-ton, Humvee 21/4-ton and 11/4-ton

The humvee is pretty standard for most MOS’s, and it is pretty easy to obtain a license for them. In my platoon myself and one other Marine were the only ones to get the license. However the 7-ton and the rare 5-ton are not easy to get licenses for and are generally only driven by Motor-T bubba’s.

Acting Corpsman and First Responder

As has all ready been pointed out WE HAVE NO MEDICAL MOS’s. Of course in boot camp and later in the fleet most Marines do get what most civilians would call “first responder” training.

Marine Corps Martial Arts Tan Belt

Every Marine must obtain this level before graduating boot now days, but as a corporal I would expect better of him. I had my green belt when I was a lance-Corporal barely a year after graduating from Boot.

Artillery and Landing support and security

He give no specifics on this so I can’t say if he is padding his resume by citing whatever MCI’s he completed, or is REALLY padding it by letting us know he can work a radio, swim to shore, and has stood duty at the barracks.
His unit designation of 9th COMM means he is either a Field Radio Operator, Field Wireman (telephone), Data, or a MUX’ter.

I’m not keeping track, but I do wonder how many people at Hot Air condemned the guy at Yearly Kos who had on his uniform and tried to defend the Iraq War. I didn’t follow that closely, but as I recall, some YK schmuck got all shrill and yelled at him in the hallway, telling him he was going to report him to his superior officer.

Serious question – is this situation materially different? (Other than this guy being an asshat, I mean.)

Had the moonbat answered his question, rather than appointing himself shore patrol, then sought later to have him disciplined on the basis of his violation, I think you’d have seen a different reaction from the right side of the blgosphere. As it happened, though, it looked like the left shreiking “only WE get to use uniforms and military service as Absolute Moral Authority!!!”

This wore out my Bull$h!t alarm. Acting Corpsman??? Who’s Marine Corps did he serve in? Other then the truck driving and tan belt the rest is all crap.

If you click on the Actors/Actresses photos link in combat casting ( http://www.combatcasting.com/ ) you can see that many of them have the same camoflauged background when having their pictures taken.

My question is this…are these walk – ons? Some photos are obviously sent in while most of them are taken at the same place…presumably at the Combat Casting place. And if they are indeed walk-ons, how do those casting people verify whether or not the people who walk in are the real thing?

That’s what I’m curious about.

BTW – the “tan” belt is the lowest, and required of all Marines, “All Marines are required to earn a tan belt, representing entry-level training”. So I guess Zach won’t be remaking any of Segal’s movies any time soon.

Shy Guy…If we let this one slide by unopposed, then what do we do for the next 100 or so that purport themselves to be Marines and aren’t ? I earned the right to call myself a Marine and don’t want any puke sullying the reputaion of MY Corps.

It starts with each of us. You being a Marine would give you a valid reason to raise hell about this. I hope you take action, and I’m not talking about writing comments in blogs. Go to the Marines and push the issue. Create a non-profit group consisting of other patriotic Marines who want to put a stop to this sort of thing. Take legal action!

All of us need to actually DO SOMETHING other than write blog comments. DO IT NOW!
