Rudy returning $9.11 campaign contributions

Remember? In lieu of donations in that amount, he’s now requesting that checks be folded in the shape of the Towers. No no, I kid. In fact, the Rudy-lovers will not be denied:

Patricia Arcaro, a retired Philadelphia-area attorney, said she sent a $9.11 check to Giuliani after hearing about the fund-raiser on the news. “I am a strong supporter of Rudy Giuliani and I immediately sat down and wrote a check to the campaign,” she said in an interview today. “I think it would have been a great grass-roots campaign effort.”

Arcaro said afterward she received a letter with a return check from the campaign that stated, “Unfortunately we must return your contribution. We do not solicit or collect financial support that is indicative of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.” It was signed by Giuliani campaign treasurer John Gross.

Arcaro was undeterred. “I turned around and sent a substantially larger check for $910,” she said. “I said, ‘Ok, fine I’ll do it that way.’”

Exit question: You’re Rudy’s campaign treasurer. A check comes in in the amount of $91.10. What. Do. You. Do?

Exit Question: As long as there’s no solicitation for a “9/11ish” amount, it was voluntary. As Rudy’s treasurer, I deposit it.

JetBoy’s on the money.

Cash it, and send a Thank You note.

What would Ron Paul do? That is what I would like to know!

On-my-soap-box on October 15, 2007 at 9:42 PM

Who thought that was a good idea?

Does it occur to anyone that the people who vote and are passionate about it, are nuts?

I realize I may be included in aforementioned group.

Refund one cent.

I bow to the inevitability of the FredHeads and send it to Thompson. Can’t.stop.hand.from.doing.it.

Bradky on October 15, 2007 at 10:17 PM

As my fellow commenters said, cash it. He didn’t solicit them and IIRC he didn’t plan the $9.11 cent fund raiser. So, if they insisted, I’d take it.

amerpundit on October 15, 2007 at 10:33 PM

I’d ask Norman Hsu.

Oh perfect. Now he emphasizes his ’shining moment’ in politic when he gave back the money offered for 9/11.

I can’t believe this guy or anyone really believes he is going to be president. He may be the Republican nomination, but he’ll never win in a million years. I’ll be happy to eat my words, but there is just no way.

9.11 times a hundred? That would be…

Yes… 911.00

(to paraphrase Team America)

Return ten cents?

BTW, I’d NEVER be in his campaign. I may have to vote against HER by pulling the lever for him, but I’ll be crossing my fingers doing it.

Then you are missing a heckuva funny movie. Just be sure to get the “rated” version, or you may be really shocked at what marionettes do in love.

I am. I was. I am in therapy. I learned something bad.
