Boy, I miss one news cycle, and the whole world goes to hell in a handbasket.

I knew about the Geraldo "spitting" incident, but I didn't hear about the fallout until I read about it here. I'm curious as to how much O'Reilly himself screwed this one up, or if it was just his people. (Can someone bring me up to speed here?) He always struck me as a gentleman under that thick hide of his, which is what kept me watching him as much as I did.

In some respects, I'm not surprised by this. I know most of you would salivate at the thought of Mrs Malkin having her own show. Now, I've never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, but I've observed from a safe distance some apparent reticence on her part, at that next level of public noteriety in relation to her personal and family life.

Also, it is possible to be overexposed. You tend to lose touch with the little people. I just don't see her going for that either. Of course, I could be wrong...

I would personally like to see Michele have a roundtable-type show with rotating, informative, topical folks and well known blog hosts as guests talking shop. (Think “Red Eye”, but without the raunch)

NightmareOnKStreet on October 16, 2007 at 2:31 PM

So, let Michelle have a political discussion/debate show to offset these other shows. Guess which show will end up with higher ratings. Come on, Michelle! We are with you, you can do it!

yubley, they could call it "Malkin's Red Meat"! or "Red Meat with Malkins" ;oP

Well said, NightmareOnKStreet. As I stated recently, I watch Bill'O less and less these days because everytime I do he seems to get older, whiter and weirder. Everything seems to be more and more about him, the attacks on him, his integrity and how he is a paragon of virtue. Worship me!

I wrote to Fox after the Geraldo attack on Michelle and was pleased to see Geraldo eat crow a week later, but I never imagined that he would still be there now and Michelle would be gone (life's not fair!)

I like the round table idea as I always enjoyed those type of shows. Remember "This Week with David Brinkley"? The shows still exists but now the host is George Stephanopoulos, truly an unbiased mediator, NOT! Another show I enjoyed was Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. The format of the show was a brilliant idea but had the same problem as This Week; it is always 3 or 4 liberals and one conservative and they view that as fair and balanced! Same thing with Hardball, you get the picture...

With all the deserved praise and calls for Michele to have her own show or take over permanently for O'Reilly, maybe Bill's ego was wounded or he saw Michele as more competitor than collaborator. When faced with the decision of how to handle Geraldo's unmanly & unprofessional comments, he may have seen a way to get rid of Michele without having people suspect it was his ego that won over his "Malkins" when he went up against Mr. Spitting Moustache. Just sayin...

Here's my $0.02 on this... I applaud Michelle for standing on principle; if she doesn't stand up for herself, nobody else will.

But I question whether it's a self defeating move. Though many here, myself included, question whether Bill's show is declining in quality, there is no debate that he has the #1 rated show on FNC. Hence, Michelle's twice-a-week exposure on that show meant she was getting exposed to FNC viewers. She also got to sub for Bill, and I think that did a lot to boost her on-air skills and popularity with viewers -- all of which helps build her career and her platform to share her ideas.

It's a tough question. I don't know whether I would have made the same decision as Michelle in the same circumstance. It's certainly a bold move. But I think some of the commenters here should understand that it's a risky move, and saying "O'Reilly sucks, good for you!!" misses the point.

There is a big difference between O'Reilly and Rush or Michelle: Rush and Michelle are entertaining! It's always fun to listen to Rush or Michelle whether you are interested in the issue they are discussing or not.

O'Reilly tends to make every topic about himself and takes a righteous tone when he's making a point, so even when I agree with him, I have to turn him off: he's annoying.

Great stance on O'Reilly, Boss, don't blame you one bit. O'R never was that thrilling except when you were on. He definitely dropped the ball not backing you up against Jerry Rivers. I'm down to watching Britt every day and an occasional Big Story. I'll look forward to seeing you there.

I don't know about a boycott, but I won't watch O'Reilly anymore simply because there is no reason to now that Michelle is gone. I'm just not interested.

Clearly some people (Fox management, O'Reilly) have failed to show some, uh, between-legs fortitude regarding overt, on-air hostility. It's a shame that the situation had to turn out this way. For the billionth time, though, Michelle outclasses everyone and shows a bunch of men how their parts are intended to be used.

Short-term, this has got to stink for Michelle. I can't imagine that the loss of income from the show is pleasant, for instance. Long-term, this has got to pay off big-time, financially and in every other way, too. Even if it backfires monetarily, respect and dignity are more important.

Exit question: how does KP feel about losing her debate partner?

.... Boycott O-Reilly!

EXACTLY. The only thing that BO and his producers understand is ... ratings. We should ALL boycott The Factor. Tell your family. Tell your friends. Tell your co-workers. Turn up the heat. Give them something to think about--when their numbers drop down into MSNBC/KO territory.

Amazing how someone can be so pretty on the outside and so ugly on the inside.

Unbelieveably ironic Digg comment!

Does wreckosaurus not read his own comrades comments or does he not realize that it's kinda "ugly" to express racist comments with an occasional death wish thrown in for good measure?

Well, it's our loss, and Bill O's too.

But the main thing is you're still with FNC, and we can still hear you there, hopefully on your own show some day.

Bill's treatment of Michelle inthis whole Geraldo affair was disgusting. Michelle has every right to be incensed. But remember that Geraldo, as despicable as he is, is one of Bill's "Guyz" -- like Al Sharpton or Ellis Henican, he is one of the annoying lefties Bill loves to have on.

Since Geraldo is a fellow on-staff FOXie, Bill is likely to give him a pass vs. an outside contributor like Michelle. His loss.

However, if Michelle is to boycott O'Reilly then

SHE MUST DO MORE VIDEO "RANTS" ON HER HOT AIR BLOG

to make up for it.

Deal, Michelle?

Michelle,

If your going to boycott your appearances on the
O’Reilly Show. Then PlEASE keep that ginning Idiot
Geraldo off the Hot Air site. He’s not worth the
cyber space. He adds nothing but total filth to the mix.

Ditto for me. Hey, AP... can you ban pix of jerry rivers for us?
