I wish I knew more about Hunter, but I hear good things from San Diego. I am hoping that he will find a spot in the 08 republican presidency to prepare him for the presidency some day.

And I, like you, will support whoever the rep nominee is.

Well, if I had my ‘druthers,’ the nominee would be Duncan Hunter. But, as we discussed in a previous thread, his campaign seems to be going nowhere. That being the case, my second choice has to be Fred. His positions on gun crontrol (hitting your target), immigration (do it legally and you’ll be welcome), taxes (keep them low), etc. are closer to mine than the other two front-runners.

And just to be clear again, regardless of who wins the nomination, I will vote Republican in the general.

Maybe all these high power conservatives on his team are really just there for the possible handout when Fred converts his, I mean his groupies, hard earned $8 million into a PAC and is looking for someone to share it with? How many sucka’s donated more bucks when those people joined his campaign? And I use campaign in the loosest of terms. Basically this could be a campaign to fleece the pockets of the most ignorant of our society?

No, just trying to figure out your rather…nuanced…position on deferments. From what I’ve read, it seems to be that deferments are fine, unless they’re Giuliani’s deferments, which are bad.

What about after the primary?

Would you go 3rd party, sit it out (a vote for Hillary), or something else?

I was talking about the general. That’s why I don’t want Rudy to win the primary.

Maybe the Republican party should schism. That would allow the Rinos to take the center and allow Republicans to hold the right. I think independents would be more willing to vote for the Rinos than Dinos, which means less success for the Democrats. And then none of the parties would be able to hold a majority.

You’d have to have coalitions to get anything done. But at least you knew what the parties and candidates stood for without all the deception and pandering.

And it’s not end of the world if Hillary wins.

And Slublog, and others, thanks for today’s amusement by recalling that ‘child’ with his “My name is John (Forbes) Kerry, and I’m reporting for duty” … … … I never even believed the exit polls on election day.

I would like to think that I am open minded, honest, polite, heroic and trustworthy. And I appreciate the same qualities in others although I am realistic enough to know that no one else could come close to me.

I think it was more that my father and uncles had all been in and most of my friends were going in. It was expected back then.

Now that, as a many generation military family person, is a sentiment I can fully understand and relate to.

Besides not one, aside from McCain, who will not make it, has war experience, from both sides. It simply won’t matter in ‘08.

Also Hillary, in a way. Keeping Bill even part way under control was probably pretty much like a military campaign.
