Okay AP… So I think that most commenters are going with the whole similarity to the actual “Hello” video which is probably the direction the mind should take. However, I’m a little bent around the edges so I’m more apt to go in circular motions instead of linear logic.

I can’t help but laugh my rear off everytime I hear this song and it is wholly because of you AllahPundit! You and Mr. O’Brien. I hear it in the background and SoulGlo’s little comment made it all the more poignant. It’s a classic, forever and always. But I promise, if I find it, I won’t link it. It’s pre-Michelle and I’m not sure she’d approve.

True, but it’s great as an answering machine message. Not as good as the Doors “Hello, I love you” but still pretty good. So it wasn’t a total waste. You also need to remember that Lionel Richie was taking over where Air Supply left off. ‘Nuff said. ;-)

For those of us who care about chord progressions and the natural beauty of good melodies – there are a couple places in this song that are just unforgivably poorly written. I cringe every time. It is a crime against humanity that this was ever a hit.

As a professional artist, I must say–that video pretty much sums up how most art is made these days. Except you have to tack on the proverbial “Bushitler/Anti-American/Anti-War” ideology, of course.

One of those dudes made a really god one! Even Lionel himself, in one interview, said he never really thought the clay head in the video looked anything like him.
