Illegal immigrants now flying Air Amnesty

posted at 6:34 pm on October 12, 2007 by Allahpundit

Seriously. It may be time to give up.

The airlines — known among fliers as Aeromigrante, or “Migrant Air” — take passengers from central or southern Mexico to cities along the northern border such as Tijuana and Mexicali. From there, customers make their way across the U.S. border.

The flights are part of a booming services industry for the estimated 13 million Mexican and Central American migrants who reside in the USA. Passengers who used to make bus trips of several days can arrive at the border well-rested for the often dangerous crossing.

Return flights south are often nearly empty of passengers, and some routes offer only one-way service. One of the airlines, Tijuana-based Avolar, estimates that 70% of its customers have the USA as their final destination…

Migrants said another factor driving them to fly is the difficulty of crossing the border as the United States builds fences and adds Border Patrol agents. Smugglers who aid their journey have doubled their fees to $2,000 or more, making an airline ticket seem less expensive, said Guillermo Hernández of Guerrero.

Some airlines try to get even more migrant business. Avolar offers Greyhound bus connections from Tijuana to Fresno, where many migrants work on farms. Aero California takes payments through Western Union, used by many migrants to send money home.

I think we should buy that airline out and use it to deport illegal immigrants from Mexico……………….to Colombia :-p

Illegal immigration is the only thing keeping Western Union in business.

stonemeister on October 12, 2007 at 6:38 PM

Are we ever going to start fighting back in this war? So far, the Mexicans think it’s a done deal that they’ve won.

PRCalDude on October 12, 2007 at 6:39 PM

sigh… We can’t do much about the supply end of the illegal immigration pipeline, but let’s please build the fence and crack down on employers. Why is that so tough? If people have a good enough reason to get here they’ll do whatever they have to do to get here.

BadgerHawk on October 12, 2007 at 6:40 PM

It may be time to give up.

Give up? Forget that. It’s time that we started patrolling Mexican airspace. Deny them the skies and they’ll have to find another way to continue their offensive.

It’s true that I’m kidding, but only a little.

And if they don’t get off the bus, Fresno is a Sanctuary city.

Thanks to ‘Carlos’ Bubba Autry, the Mayor of Fresno.

It may be time to give up.

Give up? Give up? When Washington was told the Revolution couldn’t be won, did he “give up”? When Abraham Lincoln was told the Union couldn’t be kept together, did he “give up”? When the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, did we give up?

(Don’t interrupt me, I’m on a roll.)

We shall fight in Phoenix, we shall fight on the border, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the blogosphere, we shall defend our nation, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the airwaves, we shall fight on CSPAN, we shall fight in Texas, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

Our government is working against us on this issue. There’s no where to turn to get officials elected who will actually DO something. As long as people (read: politicians) fear being labeled racists/bigots/nativists/etc. nothing is going to get done.

Get used to it, boys & girls. When Hillary & ‘white thrash Willy’ get back in, the real give-away starts. They’ll have control of both houses & the White House again. They’ll make George look like a piker and make sure they give away even more. The’ll never, ever okay a real fence. It’ll change the country completely into a true third world. Righteous people will scramble to areas or states that refuse to Hillary-ize. People now think Frisco & Cal should seceed, well states will seceed for other reasons – to get away from Hillary-ism/socialism. What a nightmare. Boy I hope that’s what it is – just a bad nightmare. We still have a chance. This next general election is VERY important. We have to keep some semblance of order in our country or it’s the third world for us.

countywolf on October 12, 2007 at 7:35 PM

Migrants said another factor driving them to fly is the difficulty of crossing the border as the United States builds fences and adds Border Patrol agents.

I used to wonder why they didn’t simply just fly into an airport and then stay here. Seemed safer than crossing the desert in the middle of July. Good to know customs and ICE are on top of it! /sarc

wherestherum on October 12, 2007 at 7:37 PM

apparently ya’ll missed this NYTimes article

Judge Charles R. Breyer of the Northern District of California

has stopped DHS from sending out ‘no match’ letters to employers.
Something like 140,000 employers, with some 8 million ‘no match’ SSNs.

And the judge said they can’t send out the letters because people would lose their jobs. . . .

rockhauler on October 12, 2007 at 7:42 PM

A: While I was a little bit surprised at this.. (and I shouldn’t have been considering everything I know about this subject)…. The real surprise, now that I’m thinking about it: Is that the Mexican Government of Mexico isn’t paying outright for people’s trips to ‘Aztlan’.

Since ‘remittances’ sent back to Mexico from the US by their invaders is now Mexico’s greatest source of income, it would be quite profitable for their government if they just shipped them up here directly in cattle cars, Planes, Trains and Buses.

Since President Bush and the Congress generally keep the Border Patrol from doing their jobs, shouldn’t be that hard to actually deliver the ‘undocumented immigrants’ directly to their job sites (or the welfare office, depending on what kind of individual it is).

Or, failing doing things overtly, the Government of Mexico could build a bunch of huge, well engineered tunnels under the borders for a few miles, an actual underground railroad, to bring their people to ‘El Norte de Oro‘. I bet payback on a project like that would only be a year or two, as long as our ‘leaders’ continue to allow nearly unimpeded illegal immigration.
—————————————
B: Another thing I never understood is: How ‘poor starving people who just want to feed their families’ can afford to pay a ‘Coyote’ literally thousands of dollars in advance to sneak them into the US, where most of them will work at minimum (or below) wage.

If they have such decent cash resources, why don’t they band together and start businesses of their own down in their beloved ‘Mehico’ ?

LegendHasIt on October 12, 2007 at 7:44 PM

Please place Mexico in the upright position before crossing the border…

JetBoy on October 12, 2007 at 7:46 PM

HHmm… the numbers in the NYTimes article differ from the numbers in a SFGate article.

rockhauler on October 12, 2007 at 7:47 PM

And the judge said they can’t send out the letters because people would lose their jobs the jobs Americans won’t do.

Fixed that for ya.

FishFearMe on October 12, 2007 at 7:48 PM

I sure hope Arizona and Nevada stand strong – and Kalifornia continues to wimp out. And when they want to secede – fine. It won’t be long before Kalifornia will want to be back in the union.

How many hi-tech companies will flee from Kalifornia if they secede? How rich will Oregon/Washington become because of their Pacific ports?

Don’t worry – it will be easy to take Kalifornia back over in 20 years – if Kalifornia doesn’t crawl back on it’s knees before that.

Funny part about that judges ruling on the DHS plan..

Judges can only overturn a decision like that on Constitutional grounds…

What part of that plan in unConstitutional?

Its LAW enacted by Congress… its funded… its being done by the Executive branch… why is this judge even getting involved???

Romeo13 on October 12, 2007 at 8:07 PM

No, we don’t give up on this. The one issue that the vast majority of the country agrees on? The one where we’ve already won at least a temporary stay? No. Not until there’s somewhere else to move to and start over, anyway.

Anything – everything – is up for judicial interpretation.

Or – haven’t you been reading the news lately?

LegendHasIt on October 12, 2007 at 7:44 PM

Don’t give them any ideas. On the other hand, Mexico probably wouldn’t need to undertake such a massive engineering project to accomplish the same goal. Mexico doesn’t realize it, but if they threw their military against our border and used all of their able-bodied civilians as human shields, they could virtually take over our country while at least 60% of our population tried to invent ways that it was really all our fault.

FloatingRock on October 12, 2007 at 9:16 PM

Cavuto’s segment on this this afternoon was good. He interviewed, I believe it was, the dude running the airline.

Cavuto asked him how he justifies flying people to the border who are going to cross illegally. The guy said, no joke, “I don’t know that they are going to cross the border…”

Whatever.

Wanderlust on October 13, 2007 at 2:40 AM

Personally, I think our fighter pilots need more training. Since 1991, they have been reduced to being cargo haulers, ferrying bombs around Iraq and Afghanistan, dropping them on laser illuminated targets, or whatever.

They haven’t had a good furball in, well, since 1991 before Saddam’s boys did the ol’ Monty Python thing: “RUN AWAY!!”

Now I know they can go and play “tag” with themselves. You know, one flight is “it” and the other flight tries to pretend to shoot them down, and then they switch around. But how much practice can you get shooting down your own planes, flown by pilots trained just like you (and using the exact tactics you learned). It’s kinda like dancing with your sister.

No, what they need is fresh meat. You know, like practicing shooting down terrorist-controlled airliners on their way to blow up the Sears Tower?

Of course, most fighter pilots haven’t fired an AIM for real. That should change, as well. Or used their Vulcan’s against a real moving airplane target.

Wait!

I’ve got it!

All those small Mexican airlines flying those agile 737′s, 727′s and MD-80s! Loaded with “invaders”. PERFECT!

I’m joking, Bradky.

Gregor on October 13, 2007 at 7:26 AM

I sure hope Arizona and Nevada stand strong – and Kalifornia continues to wimp out. And when they want to secede – fine. It won’t be long before Kalifornia will want to be back in the union.

Personally, I do not think that California or the Southwest will secede in the near future. Maybe in the distant future. My reasoning is based on economics.

Mexico is receiving close to 20 billion in free annual revenue (“checks or cash payments sent back home”) with no expenses from the illegals living here. Plus, the illegal aliens receive free Emergency Room treatment and a lot of other free social services. Why would they want to secede if they are receiving all the benefits?

Granted, many of the illegals have bought into the “reconquista” strategy of reclaiming the Southwest. But the Mexican government has not. The Mexican government just wants the status quo to continue indefinitely: keep the borders wide open which means more billions and billions of free revenue sent home to Mexico and not a single penny of expenses.

Timothy S. Carlson on October 12, 2007 at 7:49 PM

Now you are making a good point here. You see, when the rich begin to experience the negative daily consequences of illegal immigration, then I predict that Silicon Valley will move elsewhere. Right now, the rich in America attend schools that are not overcrowded due to illegal aliens. Currently, the rich go to the best hospitals whose Emergency Rooms are not flooded with illegals receiving free health care. When the rich begin to experience the crime wave, and begin to see home values decline, then you will see some changes. But right now the rich often do not experience the negative consequences of illegal immigration.

But when that changes, then the rich will not want any of it.

ColtsFan on October 13, 2007 at 9:50 AM

It is time to put a fully armed National Guard on the borders (all borders). Maybe a little isolationism wouldn’t be so bad.
