Well, considering the knee-jerk reaction many liberals have to withold information on a crime unless forced to turn it over, I’m not too surprised.

Kind of like the librarian who refused to allow the FBI to search a publicly available (for students and facutly) computer that may have been used to send a (bomb?) threat. That forced the FBI to get a subpeona taking several hours while the threat was still ongoing.

As we’re so often reminded, offending people is not a crime. Classless, juvenile, even repugnant? Yes. But not criminal, and not something we have a right to be free from.

Memo to Columbia: It’s a piece of freaking twine tied in a knot, people. Wake me up when there’s an actual threat of some sort, and stop acting like it’s an actual lynching instead of….well, twine.

Witholding the tape only furthers speculation, and causes finger pointing. Stop playing games and be honest. Geez, whose feelings are you trying to protect? WTF?

Sorry, I don’t think it rises to the level of assault. And I’m not sure that it is even a “hate crime.”

Disorderly conduct might be a valid charge for this because hanging a noose on the doorknob could be considered behaving in a disruptive manner causing fear and alarm. But assault? I not so sure. I’m not sure what NY state considers to be “assault.” Usually the crime of “assault” is acting in a threatening manner that puts the victim on fear of immediate harm, and immediate means right then and there, not at some time in the future. This doesn’t seem to be the case here.

As to it being a “hate crime?” The state will have to prove that act was a “biased motivated crime,” that the victim was chosen because she was part of a targeted group and that the act was meant to intimidate or threaten that group. I’m not sure that this is the case here, and frankly, this sounds like an attempt to inflate the charges against the person responsible.

But, then, we are talking about New York, and Columbia University. And like Islam, Liberalism is a religion of perpetual outrage.

Maybe this professor has done something that someone considers being worthy of hanging…should we suppress their freedom of conscience and expression?

The second on I saw the photo of the news I said “Why the hell isn’t there security video?” And sure enough, now we have Columbia refusing to release it. Now, I’m not prepared to go WAY out on a limb here, but does anyone else think this might be a sort of GWU situation. You know, those fake flier printed up, intended to look like they came from YAF to smear them as racists.

I think there’s more than a good chance that this noose was hung by either the black professor herself, or some far left black student, hoping to stir up a controversy. I’m not prepared to call it “likely” right now, but I’m saying 50/50, especially considering the fact that there is a tape and they won’t release it.

Wow, we’re in worse shape than I thought.

Of course it could be racism. But average people have learned that reports from the media, the Sharpton/Jackson crowd, universities, etc. CAN’T BE TRUSTED. They’ve also learned that the same groups will hide inconvenient truths. That is not racism.

Furthermore, even though I’ve only read this blog for a little less than a year, I never hear anyone suggest that Hillary isn’t qualified because of her sex, or Obama because of his race. The left suggests that these right wing (I prefer centrist) sites are hate-filled. Any hate I see is directed towards despicable people for what they’ve said and done, not for who they are.

On this site, it’s the content of one’s character that counts, not the color of the skin. You’re barking up the wrong tree. The Left protects groups and group think. Individual behavior matters not a whit. Our side values the individual, and how he himself behaves. It doesn’t take a village, it takes character.

If this site is not the one with the most racists commenting, well, it sure looks like it. I don’t know what happened, but I have to say that I am surprised by all of the people attempting to justify why this couldn’t possibly be racism. Wow, we’re in worse shape than I thought.

So, if it turns out to be a hoax, perpetrated by a lefty or the alleged victim, to “raise awareness,” then it’s BECAUSE OF THE RACISM! OK, now I get it.
