They’ve always been ahead of the curve in the news game. There was only one thing left to try: musical accompaniment. Here’s the cut-in from commercial, exactly as it happened, at 6:15. I think this is the same song that Sara Carter Evans just performed on Hannity & Colmes; they must have been listening to it in the control room beforehand to figure out how they were going to shoot it and someone hit the wrong switch, and…
If you’re keeping score, there are now musical guests on H&C, body language experts and trivia contests on O’Reilly, and the occasional psychic on Fox & Friends.
Says the guy who relies on viral video for 80% of his content.

Too bad it wasn’t a story on Mrs. Clinton with the lead-in song being “Maneater” by Nelly Furtado.

Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. Well done, BJ*.

Oh GOOD! I thought it was someone here in “progressive” Nashville cable doing a CNN thing! I was going to call and lodge a complaint in the morning. Nice to know it was nationwide apparently. geeeeeeeeeeeeez it was annoying!
Not the song, the interruption!
Thanks for the info!

I live in Japan – they not only soundtrack ALL news programs here (using Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, and other real soundtracks as well as pop music), they subtitle everything too. I’ve actually been thinking of studying the effect of including music with the perceived import of the story.

That “Maneater” song is very annoying to me SouthernGent. I used to listen to, I’m pretty sure it was, Monica Crowley on Saturday afternoons, but she played that song seemingly continously so I stopped tuning in.
As I recall she was pretty much all anti-Hillary all the time as well, I guess there’s room for that for some, but it gets boring right quick for me.

Is why I like you so much See-Dubya that you would think that :)

I’ve been trying to figure out what fell out of Colmes’ mouth during a long shot on H&C. It was white and very weird.

Yeah, but it’s fair and balanced viral video, so you’re still in FNC’s league of journalistic integrity.

That’s one beautiful lady!

No way. The sound did not come back on with Dan Burton whining “and I just don’t understand…”
Jaibones on October 10, 2007 at 10:40 PM
“Now”? Sara Evans, Lee Greenwood, Charlie Daniels, etc. etc. have been coming on the program for years, haven’t they?
Interesting that they didn’t catch an anchor on mic in the bathroom trashing her sister in-law… or that they didn’t misteriously flash an X over a prominent Democrat’s face.

She sure seems it.

Last words on the clip: “And I just don’t understand…”
LOL
Wonder what those guys in the control room are smokin’.

MSPDQLSMFTNBCCNNHEADLINE NEWSexcept for BeckIs Fox News next on the strike list? OReally and the rest of the tabloidists have turned the network into the grocery store checkout of cable news. Sound down. Look up when Ham and Dhue are on. Sound up when MM is on. That is how I watch OReally these days. That body language mystic is very strange.

If they could play tunes instead of the sounds of Democratic voices, I would have no complaint. It even might serve to lower my blood pressure. Talking Heads would set a good standard for a starter. As the election progresses some bands with screamers would fit, I’m sure.

Hilarious. I’m sure Brit was real happy about that one.

If Fox News is looking for good musical accompaniment, ahem:

I heard Elizabeth Cook do this song on the Woodsongs Radio show. My only fear about posting it here is that Hillary may find out about it, and co-opt it for her campaign.

How about that witch’s cackle they dub in whenever Hillary is asked a serious question?
Sensei Ern on October 11, 2007 at 10:25 AM
I don’t think they need to dub anything in…she cackles like a witch just fine naturally
