In the last debate, with zero hesitation, he said he WOULD allow Dubai (or any other like country) to buy a controlling interest in one of our Stock Exchanges. He is no different than Bush and if he is nominated/elected it will be more of the same race to sell off the country to the highest bidder and the voters be damned.

Both sides are liquidating this country’s assets in a Bankruptcy/firesale/everything must go style. We are getting hosed and arguing about degrees of water pressure.

As for Rudy, his ONLY issue is the WOT. He is strong there, everywhere else he doesnt cut it. As for Dobson, I was a Dem turned Rep in mid 90’s and frankly that “religious” base thing has always annoyed me. I worship in my own way and how I wish, to politicze religion is wrong to me. Cowtowing to Dobson is pandering in the Nth degree!

It is going to boil down to this: are you going to not vote for the Republicans and allow the Dems to take over the country espousing every single thing you despise OR are you going to suck it up and vote for the nominee?

We just saw what happened in the last election when so many people protested by “sitting out”. Congrats..the loonies won. One way to fix that, HOLD YOUR NOSE AND VOTE next time!

It’s pretty early to be going wide and deep on anybody yet, don’t you think? Republicans aren’t going to pick up Ohio no matter who runs. Florida is the very definition of a coin toss, and considering Santorum’s recent fate, I’d say centrist looks about as red as Pennsylvania’s going to get any time soon. It gets harder to play the “invetible” card, however, when you look at Hillary’s unfavorables, and the upside of the “wide and deep” numbers is that 41% of Hillary’s supporters in Florida are potential gets, and ditto 34% in PA.

The electability argument is going to sit there until social conservatives start explaining how they can win this election for Republicans without any of those votes.

They have a season, but you can’t hunt ‘em …

I could be convinced that NYC is large and complex enough to provide a test on domestic issues, but I wish Rudy had done something else in government from Jan 2002 onward. Maybe if he had stepped up to take the Homeland Security post instead of pushing his buddy Bernie that would have helped. By doing something in public service along those lines instead of earning a small personal fortune would have reflected well on him.

In Florida, Clinton leads Giuliani, 46% to 43%
In Ohio, Clinton leads Giuliani, 46% to 40%
In Pennsylvania, Clinton leads Giuliani, 48% to 42%.

Giuliiani has odds than Custer I suppose.

Well, it’s at least arguably constitutional. And although I’m no constitutional scholar, I suppose it depends upon exactly how it is structured. Nevertheless, it’s helpful, and it wasn’t unconstitutional until Rudy’s efforts made it so. He tries to make it sound like somebody is forcing his hand. This is a repeat character flaw I see in him–blaming others to avoid taking responsibility for his actions. There’s something typically Rudy about this. He LOVES LOVES a fight, the more public and the higher profile the better. I’m just not sure he cares enough which fight he picks. I still would vote for him against Hillary, but I don’t think there’s any doubt he’s a volatile guy. So far, you’ve seen Mr. Nice Rudy on TV.

That said, a lot of conservatives agree the line item veto is unconstitutional, and are probably wrong. We’re not Democrats; we don’t break the rules every time it’s convenient, or because somewhere a puppy is sad.

Also, if you live in Wisconsin you know what a mess the line item veto became. They started doing crazy stuff like “vetoing” the word “not” out of bills, so they had the exact opposite effect as legislated.

Looking at other possible 2008 presidential matchups in Florida, the Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll finds:
Clinton tops McCain 46 – 42 percent, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson 48 – 39 percent and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 48 – 37 percent;
Giuliani bests Obama 42 – 39 percent and edges Edwards 43 – 41 percent;
Obama beats Thompson 45 – 36 percent and Romney 43 – 36 percent, but trails McCain 41 – 39 percent;
Edwards edges McCain 42 – 40 percent and beats Thompson 44 – 36 percent and Romney 47 – 33 percent.

By a 49 – 41 percent margin, Florida voters have a favorable opinion of Clinton. Favorability ratings for other contenders are:
49 – 34 percent for Giuliani;
43 – 30 percent for McCain;
47 – 27 percent for Obama;
46 – 32 percent for Edwards;
29 – 24 percent for Thompson;
30 – 20 percent for Romney.

Almost as bad as in previous debates when he tried to explain that he was “forced” to continue a sanctuary city policy because of “executive orders!” And because the Feds wouldn’t respond.

I may vote for him, but he’s full of sh*t on this.

Yes, but not be nearly a great enough margin to justify the “only Rudy can beat Hillary” nonsense that we keep hearing; not with 13 months to go.
