GOP debate: The after party

Only two were invited to this soiree, the goofy host and the bottom-feeding outlier candidate. A better producer would have invited Maria Bartiromo and, well, any of the other candidates and left these two to grab a smoke out back. Evidently they don’t have any good producers at MSNBC anymore.
So what do these two talk about? Dick Cheney accusing Saddam Hussein of wanting to fly a nuke over to us on a balsa wood plane, among other inanities that never happened.
Exit question: How long will it be after Paul’s exit from the race before MSNBC offers him a show?

I missed it since it was during the day and I forgot to set my DVR. But I heard that Thompson Blew It.
Anyone got a link to the whole debate?

lol – touché.
I’m not feeling well, I’m think I’m suffering from ‘war fever’.. If I take a Tylenol will Iran go away?
saus on October 10, 2007 at 8:26 AM
Matthews is absolutely disgusting. The whiny, insignificant little fool could only exist on MSNBC.
rplat on October 10, 2007 at 8:28 AM
Ron and Chrissy sitting in a tree…
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
These two deserve each other.
“Bombing any country is an act of war!”
Really? And flying fully loaded airliners into buildings is what, Ron Paul, a misdemeanor? Sheesh!
Bacchus on October 10, 2007 at 8:34 AM
It’s crazy how little people remember about what actually started this war. If anything, it was not Cheney going from TV show to TV show talking about a balsa wood plane carrying a nuke. That was not why “a lot of people said we should go to war.”
Also — correct me if I’m wrong — but Paul pretty much says that terrorism doesn’t exist, with his comparison to Hitler. “They are going to attack us, that our enemy is another Hitler, and, uh, even though it doesn’t exist!”
Umm… they already attacked us, and Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of people. What world are these two living in?!?
“It’s ALMOST human history…” What?!?

I must have watched a different debate than the one the folks at the NYObserver watched.
Vaporman87 on October 10, 2007 at 8:36 AM
Paul should be excluded from future GOP debates. Everyone would benefit: his supporters could claim martyr status for their man and the rest of us wouldn’t have to listen to his nonsensical blather.
Slublog on October 10, 2007 at 8:38 AM
But don’t call Matthews a partison or he’ll go RIP, whatever that means.
ctmom on October 10, 2007 at 8:42 AM
I didn’t watch the debate. I was signing petitions to have GOP judges on the ballot in Harris County, TX and on the state of Texas ballot.
I did see some hilights of Fox. Chris Matthews is an idiot.
madmonkphotog on October 10, 2007 at 8:43 AM
I saw the last 45 minutes of it and some snippets after. To me, it looked like Fred was like what most said. He didn’t gaffe, but also didn’t have a campaign changing moment. He was worthy of his second place.
Of course he scores points for bitchslapping Christopher, and giving back at Mitt.
Rudy was good, Mitt was okay (though they both had disturbing answers), McCain couldn’t heard. Hunter and Tancredo had some good things to say, but they have no shot. Ron Paul should be barred from further debates.
Darksean on October 10, 2007 at 8:51 AM
These 2 just make it up as they go along. 2 kooks in a pod.
roninacreage on October 10, 2007 at 8:52 AM
Chris and Dr. Ron come from the same alien planet.
Attila (Pillage Idiot) on October 10, 2007 at 8:52 AM
By the way, a balsa wood plane with a nuke would be cool. Where can I buy one?
Attila (Pillage Idiot) on October 10, 2007 at 8:53 AM
I guess interviewing insignificant candidates is Matthews’ way of deflecting claims that he isn’t “fair” the next time he gushes over Hillary Clinton or suggests that Rudy is the devil.
highhopes on October 10, 2007 at 8:57 AM
Chris Matthews is a liberal sycophant…If Hillary came to a quick stop Matthews would disappear into a liberal black hole…..
jimwesty on October 10, 2007 at 9:02 AM
RP is weaker on terror than Hillary Clinton. He is probably the only GOP candidate I would never vote for no matter what.
Complete7 on October 10, 2007 at 9:23 AM
Paul will do better than Olbermann or Matthews in the ratings. His supporters are even more psychotic than Olberfraud viewers and they can just do a show where they spam polls and live in an alternate universe.
JammieWearingFool on October 10, 2007 at 9:31 AM
They’d be foolish not to offer him a job. On the online polls for CNBC, Ron Paul just kills with 70% approval. Think of those ratings MSNBC!
I’ve started calling the feeling of euphoria Paulites get when the hear him going off during the debates as ‘Paulgasms.’
Paulgasms can also be brought about by spamming on-line polls although one wonders later if all of the effort was worth the short-lived payoff and the lingering feeling of feeling cheap and dirty in a not-so-good kind of way.
Canadian Infidel on October 10, 2007 at 9:38 AM
someone needs to point out to that tool, all the acts of war Saddam Hussein committed against the US, that are known publicly.
1)attempt to assassinate our POTUS
2)firing at our airplanes
3)everytime he violated the Cease Fire Agreement he signed with us from first gulf war, each time being a case to resume hostilities/war..
……..
one of the biggest mistakes Bush has made is letting facts like that slip through people’s minds. Now you have a majority thinking we were ‘unjust’ in going into Iraq.
jp on October 10, 2007 at 9:39 AM
MSNBC is doing the nation a service by keeping left wing idiots front and center! The American people get an opportunity to see what the left is really all about instead of listening to silly campaign talk from “herself”… Hey, maybe Hillary could give every American their own TV show while she is dolling out the goodies…

I couldn’t watch more than 30 seconds of that. If I wanted to watch gay porn, I’d go to the sex shop down the road.
MadisonConservative on October 10, 2007 at 10:15 AM
I must have been watching a different debate then them. Thompson did just fine. His statement on Islamic-Fascism & political squabbling was fantastic!

How does Mathers (drunk fool) get away with his absurd statement about Cheney?
Jaibones on October 10, 2007 at 10:42 AM
I missed it too, havent found an archive of it yet either
offroadaz on October 10, 2007 at 10:45 AM
I bryan posted this thread; but go read AP’s description of this video at youtube LOL. I saw this yesterday somehow. Too funny.
All Matthews needed was some hand cream for a happy ending.
lorien1973 on October 10, 2007 at 11:01 AM
What show did Bush go on and say Saddam had a nuclear bomb he was going to put on a balsa wood plane and fly over here? Is that in anyones archives? I really need to see that.
peacenprosperity on October 10, 2007 at 11:07 AM
Redhead, did you get your link? In the monster debate thread LegendHasIt has a link where he uploaded, and you can view, the whole thing. I just went and got it, here it is.

Let me tell you something, Chris Matthews… I detect the kind of glaring logical inconsistencies in your ‘reasoning’ that only botched frontal lobotomy patients with crisscrossed shoelace scars on their sloped foreheads are capable of making. If I want the advice of a retard, I’ll slap you on the back of the head and wake up that little peg legged hamster that operates the drool-powered waterwheel of thought in there. Until then, sit in the corner and wait until I either speak to you or spit at you. If brains were dynamite, you wouldn’t have enough to blow the kneecap off a flea. You are about as entertaining as a child’s inflatable punching toy. You bop it, it springs back, you bop it again and you forget it ever existed. It slowly deflates in an unused corner, then one day you throw it away. Any friend of yours is a lousy judge of character. Maybe you wouldn’t come across as such a jellyfish-sucking mental midget if you weren’t afflicted with mental retardation; or if you didn’t have a face that makes your pillow cry itself to sleep every night. No, come to think of it, you would.
I’m busy trying to imagine you with a personality. Maybe you’d be less boring once I got to know you, but I don’t want to take that chance. I’d get more pleasure from running my nostrils down a cactus than hearing another contribution from you. Maybe you wouldn’t read like such a pathetic loser if you weren’t so dense that light bends around you. I’d tell you to go screw yourself and the horse you rode in on, but looking at that stupid grin on your face, I’d say you already have.
There. I feel better now.

Nice rant! For a minute there, I thought you were channeling Dennis Miller.

Tweety didn’t have a choice. Any other candidate would have made him look like the moron he really is.

It is starting to become frighteningly obvious to me that Ron Paul is going to be the next in the line of Ross Perot-Ralph Nader types, with no hope of winning but determined to scar the electoral landscape one way or another.
Paul wont win a sausage, but he and his army of truthers could take enough votes away from the GOP nominee to hand the WH to Hillary, the same Perot did to GB41 in 92 and Nader did to Owlgore in 00.
Does anyone really believe that RP will Get on the Bus once the primaries are over and he isnt nominated???
Mike D. on October 10, 2007 at 12:31 PM
Is that you, Dennis? :)
Nice smackdown…

TruthToBeTold on October 10, 2007 at 12:43 PM
It’s quite likely that he’ll run 3rd party or independant, but I don’t see him having anywhere near the influence that Perot or even Nader did. I don’t think that Most of Ron Paul’s cultish supporters have a history of voting Republican, if at all.
Hollowpoint on October 10, 2007 at 1:17 PM
And don’t forget:
4) Sponsoring terrorism in Israel which killed many Americans. Of course, ignoring that one fact means that there’s an underlying assumption that I don’t dare voice anywhere. It involves some people in the media and the like who don’t consider certain groups as not deserving the same consideration as being “people”. Which is just ugly.

Cheney + Balsa wood plane + Nuke = War…?
.
Asswipe on Ron Paul supporters, “lot of people think like you, I dare not say I’m one of them”
abinitioadinfinitum on October 10, 2007 at 1:39 PM
Very well done! After watching most of that clip I couldn’t have done it without expletives or nausea.
How much respect has RP lost by launching his loony campaign? He is the poster child for “It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
deepdiver on October 10, 2007 at 3:00 PM
Here’s your balsa wood plane.
Sebastian on October 10, 2007 at 3:31 PM
I’m sorry to sound like a grade-schooler, but Ron Paul is just plain ol’ retarded. There, I said it, and I feel better.
