Video: Vicente Fox calls for a North American Union?

Big day for el presidente yesterday, first hinting to the AP that white supremacism lies at the root of opposition to mass amnesty for illegals, then hitting the chat show circuit to share his grand “long, long term” vision for North America with Jon Stewart and Larry King. The relevant part of the Daily Show clip comes at 4:40 and runs to 6:00, but watch ’til the end for his comments about Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales. Up until that point Fox had been saying all the “right” things: threatening to punish America for its immigration policies by boycotting U.S. goods, dismissing opposition to illegal immigration as based on “fear” and xenophobia, which naturally warrants a perfunctory round of applause from the bien piensants in the audience (at around 3:40), etc etc. Stewart thinks he’s among friends — until Fox smacks Chavez and Morales and reveals the free-trading capitalist ogre within, catching Stewart off guard and leaving him to stammer condescendingly about how both he and Morales, who was a guest recently on the show, both “make sense.” What a patronizing tool.

Where’s commentator and insignificant blogger see-dubya when we need him, to explain all things NAU!?
Mcguyver on October 9, 2007 at 1:06 PM
Yeap the NAU is just a conspiracy theory. Yeah right. All the actions from our government over the last 8 years points to this and only this conclusion. I’m soo glad my son is taking spanish in school at least he will be able to speak to his congressman in 10 years.
unseen on October 9, 2007 at 1:08 PM
I think this is pretty sad myself.
Spirit of 1776 on October 9, 2007 at 1:14 PM
Fox is annoying and his policy positions are foolish, but do you honestly believe that warrants the death penalty?
Slublog on October 9, 2007 at 1:15 PM
In regards to a common currency …
Yeah. We’re all nutjobs.
Long term. Short term. Either way, it’s quite obvious it’s in the plan.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 1:16 PM
Fox would be fine as the editor of the WSJ.
JiangxiDad on October 9, 2007 at 1:16 PM
Depends on how many Mexican criminals he’s let out of his prisons to raise hell up here.
PRCalDude on October 9, 2007 at 1:18 PM
Don’t you think he’s a little too moderate for them? :-)
Slublog on October 9, 2007 at 1:18 PM
It’s amazing how the ignorant tools in the audience actually drool over this clown.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 1:18 PM
Why, because he doesn’t like Hugo?
- The Cat
Well if it weren’t for his stance on illegal immigration and (shudder to actually say this) NAU, he’s an ok guy and alot better then the dudes Mexico used to have.
MirCat on October 9, 2007 at 1:19 PM
Using the same accent Redd Foxx did on Sanford and Son,
El-jerko need to shut his mouth-o.
Mexico is NOT America, and America has no desire to be part of or support Mexico.
madmonkphotog on October 9, 2007 at 1:19 PM
NAU… a figment of our imagination.
Why is Vicente Fox even in our country, appearing in our Television studios broadcasting coast to coast, peddling this tripe?
That would be like one of our former Presidents appearing on Mexican Televison in every home of their country telling the Mexicans to quit being absurdly corrupt drug cartel worshipping dirt farmers.
(…if only we had a former POTUS with the nuts!)

I am weary of the disingenuous NAU blather in here.
Theworldisnotenough on October 9, 2007 at 1:24 PM
If you have been to Europe and watched the train wreck that the E.U. has been to small business, then you will understand the impending disaster that could be the N.A.U. These multinational trade partnerships are specifically created to squelch small business and empower corporate conglomerations.
They also are designed to remove regional and national identities, and reduce or remove individual rights. If they can’t take away rights granted by your national government, they will attempt to take your rights away through a treaty.
If you aren’t concerned about the impending N.A.U. you are a fool. I am willing to bet most large corporations are already lined up behind it.
Rode Werk on October 9, 2007 at 1:25 PM
Why, I’m right here.
No question that Mexico would love love love to hop onto some sort of NAU/ common currency gravy train. They’d be fools not to push something like that.
America? Nah.
see-dubya on October 9, 2007 at 1:26 PM
Again dont forget the current mexican president. He says the US NEEDs mexican workers

You know there is a small fire under that pot of water you are in.
Dusty on October 9, 2007 at 1:32 PM
Why thanks for clarifying that so in such a detailed way.
Mcguyver on October 9, 2007 at 1:32 PM
The SPP plan calls for it to be in place by 2012. That’s only five years away if it goes to stated plan.
It’s time to decide if we are going to keep our heads buried in the sand on this issue or if we are going to seriously engage our government and get it stopped. It’s a scary thing but if we want to stop it we have first got to have the nerve to face it. The longer we wait to engage this seriously the more difficult it will become to stop it.
Maxx on October 9, 2007 at 1:39 PM
Stewart, he is a C^*t and that Mexican bag of crap… I better stop before I say something I may enjoy reading after I post it.
Come to Los Asngeles, see just how much we “need” these illegal immigrants.
Jails and prisons bursting at the seams with criminal aliens.
One of the worst school systems (formerly one of the best) in the country due to the “needed” alien’s children, overcrowding the schools.
Gangs growing exponetially from these “needed” illegals.
Whole neighborhoods destroyed and turned into little third world countrys, due to these “needed” illegal aliens.
Etc, etc…..
americaslaststand on October 9, 2007 at 1:39 PM
The NAU may have been out of the question when the U.S. had the strongest of the three currencies.
Now? Nah.

I’m a conservative. There’s a fire under every pot of water.
see-dubya on October 9, 2007 at 1:56 PM
And just wait until the Cankled Empress Pantsuit I of the Cackling Clinton Dynasty succeeds in bringing Canadian healthcare here. We’ll be all one country at that point anyway; they only need the right signatures on the right papers.
angryoldfatman on October 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM
Wow, the Freemasons, Bilderbergers, Council on Foriegn Relations, the Skull and Bones, and the Area 51 aliens sure have a lot of work to do.
Hollowpoint on October 9, 2007 at 2:14 PM
I can’t see Vicente Fox without being reminded of Esteban Vihaio, the dapper 80-year-old pimp in Kill Bill Vol. 2. Do you think that’s his Dad?
ReubenJCogburn on October 9, 2007 at 2:17 PM
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There’s no need for an ‘Amero’. The US and Canadian Dollars are close enough to equal right now. The Peso is between nine and ten cents, so the target would probably be 10:1, and you have de facto unified currency, without changing any names.
All it would require is the three central banks saying they’ll convert dollars to dollars at par, and a dollar to ten pesos, then keeping the money supplies in reasonable sync.
The US Dollar is the reserve currency for a lot of the world, and you don’t give up that kind of power for nothing.
The Monster on October 9, 2007 at 2:18 PM
Heh. Hollowpoint is now suggesting that Vicente Fox is a nutjob conspiracy theorist. Just how mushy can a head get?
I guess we know where the “Hollow” part of the login ID came from.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 2:19 PM
Of course they would they would gain all the wealth and we would remain responsible for protection with our military at our expense. Double win for them.
allrsn on October 9, 2007 at 2:19 PM
There’s no need to actually name it the “Amero.” The fact that they won’t name it the “Amero” does not change the FACT that there is an ongoing plan to move to a common currency for North America. Fox just admitted that himself, but we still have people such as Hollowpoint who want to pretend it’s all an illusion.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 2:22 PM
Are NAU deniers ignorant, or deceitful?
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 2:30 PM
There are none so blind as those who will not acknowledge what others see clearly in front of them.
Doesn’t Vicente have a new book to peddle, maybe he can go on H&C and peddle his tripe there too.
normsrevenge on October 9, 2007 at 2:32 PM
When it was a powerful currency, yes. The Euro is swiftly replacing it, however.
Maybe Hollowpoint can blame Elvis or the Loch Ness Monster for that particular event.
angryoldfatman on October 9, 2007 at 2:44 PM
Not for long. Read here, here, and here.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 2:56 PM
Yes, but once the blowback starts against the Islamists in Europe, the dollar will soar. People will rush back to it. At the moment, the dollar is erroneously seen as subject to severe political risk. Perhaps the Yuan will be the next reserve currency, someday.
JiangxiDad on October 9, 2007 at 2:57 PM
Sounds like a good idea to me. Our schools are not failing fast enough. Our cities are not filthy enough. Crime is not high enough. Social Security is not broke enough. We do not have enough Tuberous in the USA along with other disease. There are not enough people who can not speak English. Our hospitals are not full enough. /soapbox
Wade on October 9, 2007 at 3:02 PM
I think you’re right, in theory. Only one problem …
The U.S. is headed in the same direction and it’s a good bet that we’ll be fighting the same Islamification here. So, I’m not sure Europe’s problems are going to benefit us. None of our leaders seem to be bright enough to learn from their mistakes.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 3:05 PM
Are you suggesting that Elvis is on the EU Commission? Well, not so far fetched if you believe that Congress and the American people would stand for the kind of measures that NAU conspiracy theorists contend are being planned for in super-duper double top secret meetings at which the Loch Ness monster may or may not be present.
Theories around the supposed NAU are no different than other conspiracy theories- take 1 part fact, 1 part reasonable sounding conjecture, and 10 parts “OMGWTFBBQ the sky is falling!” and mix them together.
When serious proposals to do away with the US dollar and repeal all trade laws with Mexico start floating around Congress, maybe I’ll start to take it seriously. Until then, I remain a skeptic.
Hollowpoint on October 9, 2007 at 3:06 PM
How about a Central American Union?
Mexico can merge with Guatemala, San Salvador and Honduras.

Vincente is showing off as such a neocon I wonder if he’ll be offered a cabinet position in the next administration. Rudy’s pal?

And let them monopolize the coffee and banana markets? Are you nuts? Why, I’ll stop eating bananas the day they go from $1.29 a bunch to $1.50!!

I need to finish this song.
CliffHanger on October 9, 2007 at 3:19 PM
Look at you. You seem to be proving that Americans will do exactly that.
In other words … you’re going to sit on your stupid a$$ and ignore the brick hitting you on your empty head until it’s too late.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 3:20 PM
I didn’t even think of that!!!
I better start stocking up on bananas right now!!!
Hopefully it would not affect the price of lettuce by that much!!!
We would all be lost then.

Did you get a lot of pleasure from that Hollowpoint ? Did it give you a good feeling to insinuate that I’m just a nut ? Do you feel smarter than me now ? Are you congratulating yourself ?
That only plays so far you know.
Did you get a lot of pleasure from that Hollowpoint ? Did it give you a good feeling to insinuate that I’m just a nut ? Do you feel smarter than me now ? Are you congratulating yourself ?

This issue has become common knowledge. There are none so blind as those who WILL not see, that seems to be your category. If you don’t want to join in being helpful, perhaps you could at least bring yourself to getting out of the way.

Oops … sorry for the repeated lines.

The ones in the government are deceitful…the ones here at HotAir are IGNORANT – willfully so.
Redhead Infidel on October 9, 2007 at 3:29 PM
Got any Advil? My arm is sore from patting myself on the back.
There’s nothing to fight against- no bill in front of either house of Congress, no effort to sell such a radical plan to the American people, not a single politician in the White House or Congress publicly advocating such a thing. The only tangible thing you have is the widening a busy interstate highway and some vague discussions about trade. Yawn.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go duct tape my house to protect myself from chemtrails.
Hollowpoint on October 9, 2007 at 3:35 PM
I’m not so sure about that. It’s been shown that there are at least a few in here who actually benefit financially from open borders and an NAU. I believe much of the ridicule is for strategic purposes.
With a video such as this where the former President of Mexico pretty much admits to the plan; only an idiot or a liar would continue to deny it.
Gregor on October 9, 2007 at 3:36 PM
Your post kinda reminds me of Jimmy Carter coming back from Darfur the other day and saying: What genocide?
Some people just refuse to see what they don’t want to see.

But go ahead and keep saying it over and over if it makes you feel more comfortable with yourself.

Really? So what was Vicente Fox just doing in those videos and why is he making the circuit on American television?
You’re embarrassing.

Oookkkaaayyyy! Let’s see! You were the El Presendente’ of a shit stank of a country and now we in America should care what you have to say because? LMAO! Only George Bush would take this moron seriously…and I voted for him twice…sigh…
sabbott on October 9, 2007 at 4:06 PM
By the way…if I ever run out of TP…I’m going down to the bank to get some of your “currency” and I’m going to wipe my ass with your Pesos!
sabbott on October 9, 2007 at 4:08 PM
Can the NAU happen?
There are those who will try to make it happen with backdoor deals, just like the backdoor deal that President Bush is making with Mexico in the release of an illegal gang member who raped and murdered two innocent teens in Texas.
Who would have thought that any American President would stoop this low? Not me, but it’s happening.
moonsbreath on October 9, 2007 at 4:34 PM
Yeah dude, I don’t know what I was thinking. People believe all kinds of weird sh*t here, like the MSM being in bed with the Democrats, George Soros trying to buy elections, politicians in both parties not upholding the signed and sworn Constitution of the United States of America by ignoring border security in a time of war, gay marriage being forced on states that explicitly voted against it in referendums, stupid conspiracy garbage like that.
I was such an idiot to go along with those goofy Birchers and their “Communism is taking over America” cr*p and those Christer nuts telling me that abortion could be the law of the land without a single vote in Congress on it. Don’t they know our Constitution and its separation of powers in our government will keep stuff like that from ever happening?
Whew! Man, that’s a load off of my mind. Now I can join you and the other cool guys in sparking up a bowl and not worrying about that “Masonic Reptilians under the Denver airport” junk.
angryoldfatman on October 9, 2007 at 4:38 PM
Apparently it hasn’t occurred to Sr. Fox that he’s a white guy. I’m sure he feels great solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Mexico and Central America, but … he’s a white Spaniard, unless my eyes deceive me.
There’s always something special about having white people tell me that I’m a racist because I don’t like having non-citizens of all sorts illegally invade this country. It is so disconnected from reality and relevance that it catches me off-guard for a moment.
Jaibones on October 9, 2007 at 5:51 PM
Rise a little maybe, but certainly not soar. A more likely candidate would be Yuan, as China is currently artificially deflating its value to continue to dominate the global manufacturing field. Tie the Yuan to China’s economic infrastructure rather than the US dollar and watch it take off.
Also, the Euro is not what’s making the dollar weak. The fact that the federal gov’t has, over the last several decades and especially in the last 8 years, put the country into insolvency through runaway deficit spending.
Inflation + interest on the national debt + deficit spending every year = bad fiscal times ahead.
And yes, I know the economy is strong. This is a currency issue. Strong economies can be easily paralyzed by a weak currency.
Harpazo on October 9, 2007 at 6:06 PM
Yeah, that’s the tickets. We can trade half of our greatness for half of there sh*t holiness.
Then both countries would suck.
TheSitRep on October 9, 2007 at 6:52 PM
I still don’t understand the atmosphere around this conversation. Why not be informed as possible?
Allow me this example: Mein Kampft says a lot things in it that seemed at the time impossibilities. Germany was weak, it was dimiltarized, etc, etc. I’m not comparing the theories bantered about with Germany because she had latent power because of her comparitive size, but those people who had the foresight to know what political leaders on the ‘other’ side were thinking were much better prepared to deal with it when the inconceivable tried to become reality.
So here too we have an aggressive policy by one of our neighbors that is seemly counter to American interests. And we use that as the means to dismiss it? Regardless of our views, we still have to deal with their views. If your neighbor would like to remove the border between, why should that not be a topic of conversation regardless of our political position it clearly is a political agenda in some peoples minds.
Spirit of 1776 on October 9, 2007 at 7:36 PM
The reason why is because some people think it isn’t enough for you to be skeptical (which I wholeheartedly support); you have to be a d*ck about it (start @ 4:30).
angryoldfatman on October 9, 2007 at 8:15 PM
So it would seem.
Spirit of 1776 on October 10, 2007 at 12:44 AM
Well said, Spirit. Read Mexico’s Plan For America. See how much of it has been accomplished today! Mexico already has a plan that is well on it’s way to full accomplishment – what is America going to do about it????
