Video: Wallace asks Pelosi, do you pray for victory?

In one sense it’s the softest of softballs — only atheists can safely say “no” — but the point here really isn’t the answer, it’s the suggestion that the answer’s sufficiently in doubt as to merit the question in the first place. Pelosi responds with predictable indignation but after four years of moronic leftist rhetoric about the Teachable Moment that is Bush’s imperialistic folly and Harry Reid salivating over the senate seats that defeat is going to bring him and, finally, this little gold nugget courtesy of Fox News, it’s nothing but theater.

one word: “uncomfortable”

DwnSouthJukin on October 7, 2007 at 3:26 PM

Wallace asks Pelosi, do you pray for victory?

Of course not–if she prays for anything, it’s the U.S.’ utter defeat and humiliation. Anybody who thinks differently hasn’t been paying attention.

ReubenJCogburn on October 7, 2007 at 3:31 PM

Look at the body language, she is squirming like a worm in a bass fishing contest.

Wade on October 7, 2007 at 3:32 PM

A follow up (if she answers “Yes.”):

Whose victory do you pray for?”

profitsbeard on October 7, 2007 at 3:33 PM

“…and I pray for America’s children, and that there can be some compatibility in their thinking…”

Anyone?

Jaibones on October 7, 2007 at 3:33 PM

Maybe it’s projection, but the quick follow up by Wallace to clarify that she “prays for victory” seems to trigger a look — the closed eyes hesitation — that says “I’m lying right now and trying to be convincing”.

Probably just me.

Jaibones on October 7, 2007 at 3:35 PM

this little gold nugget

Are these Americans that they polled?

abinitioadinfinitum on October 7, 2007 at 3:36 PM

If she does pray for victory she’s a hypocrite. Oh, wait…

SouthernGent on October 7, 2007 at 3:38 PM

I pray for the Democrats to continuously stumble and be ever exposed for the commies they are. That prayer gets positive results quite often. Thank you Lord.

Maxx on October 7, 2007 at 3:39 PM

Wallace should have asked if Pelosi prayed for the troops to capture or to kill all of our enemies. It could have been one of those Kirk makes some computer explode moments.

rw on October 7, 2007 at 3:42 PM

Are these Americans that they polled?

No. Democrats.

HerrMorgenholz on October 7, 2007 at 3:42 PM

Mainstream societal law requires she answer “Yes” and even Pelosi is not that far outside mainstream society.

That will rankle Sheehan, though.

Dusty on October 7, 2007 at 3:43 PM

She had the answer ready before Chris was finished the question. Do you think she was coached for this exact question?

abinitioadinfinitum on October 7, 2007 at 3:45 PM

Pelosi prayed “especially hard” that Bush would sign the children’s health bill?

I think a good follow up would have been “Considering your prayer was ignored, can’t we then assume that God favors Bush?”

Enrique on October 7, 2007 at 3:50 PM

Liar.

And even if she does pray for victory (or anything), nobody’s listening to them anyway. It would be a exercise in futility.

2Brave2Bscared on October 7, 2007 at 3:50 PM

Who’s victory and which battle?

Asher on October 7, 2007 at 3:58 PM

Enrique on October 7, 2007 at 3:50 PM

Sounds reasonable to me.
It looks like I am not the only skeptic on her praying. My guess is that if she does pray it is: to herself for herself

allrsn on October 7, 2007 at 4:02 PM

Whoa, when did the dems start praying? That’s news to me!

4shoes on October 7, 2007 at 4:04 PM

Wallace should have asked Pelosi how her prayer life and her Folsom Street Fair support go, er, hand in hand.

T J Green on October 7, 2007 at 4:06 PM

it’s nothing but theater.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up right there.

infidel4life on October 7, 2007 at 4:07 PM

But does she pray for San Fan. and Miller Beer.

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon.
Going to the candidate’s debate.
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you’ve got to choose
Every way you look at this you lose.

And here’s to you, Mrs. Speaker,
Jesus loves you more than you will know.
God bless you, please Mrs. Robinson.
Heaven holds a place for those who pray,
Hey, hey, hey

Kalapana on October 7, 2007 at 4:18 PM

I don’t watch much TV news, but I pray that that clip gets shown on every station. There isn’t a person alive who can’t see, feel, tell that Peolosi is lying. She didn’t lie once, or twice, or even three times. EVERYTHING she said was a lie. The truth is, she knows it, Wallace knows it, the viewers know it. Only those viewers who back the reasoning for her lies will excuse her.

JiangxiDad on October 7, 2007 at 4:27 PM

How often did she use the word “pray” in that short segment? She looks and sounds like a simpleton in the entire clip. No wonder the world thinks we’re nuts. But, we voted her in, and voted her to be who she is – we deserve her.

For those who might hyperventilate, why don’t all politicians, the president too, just pray to themselves and run the government’s affairs, including seeing to it that wars are won?

The righties are blind, inept, corrupt, buffoonish and hypocritical at times. But they know which country they live in and vie for. The lefties are all of the negatives too, and definetely the most hypocritical of all political affiliations. And no, I don’t believe they are as patriotic or for their country winning, or as Soldier-loving as they ‘porfess’.

Entelechy on October 7, 2007 at 4:28 PM

That’s fantastic that she prays for victory. Now, how about actually doingsomething to help achieve it?

Drew on October 7, 2007 at 4:28 PM

Profess, of course – mpteen note to self – preview button has a good function.

Entelechy on October 7, 2007 at 4:31 PM

Fox News is not biased.

Nonfactor on October 7, 2007 at 4:32 PM

Nonfactor, the thread is about Nancy praying for President Bush, not on whether or not Fox is biased. Focus on her. I know you have it in you. Besides, of all the characters on Fox, Wallace…we could talk all day on this and not agree. So then, just cheers.

Entelechy on October 7, 2007 at 4:35 PM

Entelechy on October 7, 2007 at 4:35 PM

Since when were we not allowed to talk about the validity of a question when the subject of the thread is *gasp* a question? Bias has everything to do with the question. If Fox News weren’t biased there wouldn’t have even been an answer. “To win?” What bullshit.

Nonfactor on October 7, 2007 at 4:40 PM

Gotta give him credit. Chris has a great sense of humor.

The squirms and facial contortions made her look uncomfortable, especially at first. But it took her only a few moments to get back on her feet.

Theater it is.

petefrt on October 7, 2007 at 4:44 PM

Pray? To what vegetable, mineral, or thing does she pray to?
Certainly not a God, or any reasonable facsimile that normal people are aware of. Especially her constituents as displayed by Zombietime.

She probably prays to the God of Botox

Kini on October 7, 2007 at 4:51 PM

Come on, let’s give her a break on this one…she ALWAYS has that uncomfortable deer-in-the-headlights look on her face. To me it looked like she was genuinely surprised at the suggestion that she might not be praying for victory. And when she said she prayed for God’s will, she looked sincere to me.

JustTruth101 on October 7, 2007 at 5:01 PM

Anyone spot the contradictions?

Near the end she goes (paraphrasing) “We were taught never to pray for a political outcome”

Yet she spent half the time praying that Bush would sign this or that policy and that Bush would hand over Iraq to her allies, Al Qaeda.

Filthy whore liar.

VinceP1974 on October 7, 2007 at 5:19 PM

VinceP1974 on October 7, 2007 at 5:19 PM

Yep, your absolutely right. Her hypocrisy overflows, she was unable to hide it, even in such a short interview.

Maxx on October 7, 2007 at 5:47 PM

I’m assuming that her praying for a political outcome (which is what cowards pray for)is in her mind a better and wiser secession to hostilities; that would leave our enemies alive who would then happily slit our throats in our liberal induced sleep.

The reason Pelosi squirmed so much after being asked if she prays for victory is from the guilt of being reminded how much she prays for herself.

I think it would be appropriate to have asked her if she condones the public immoral filth that annually occurs at the Folsom street fair.

Speakup on October 7, 2007 at 6:13 PM

Those are lying eyes, and Pelosi is as nervous as a whore in church.

leanright on October 7, 2007 at 6:20 PM

If you believe she prays and considering her weird town; that must be one scary prayer, well, I guess it would depend on who she’s praying to.
She hides behind children, her and those positions she holds, hides her true agenda behind a BS care of kids. Somebody disagrees with her and they are anti-child, like some chickensh*t using a kid as a shield when the political shots start gettin fired.
On that first day, in the House, when the first female speaker of the House had all them kids around her; Ithought maybe, for 1 insane microsecond, that she changed her position on abortion.

christophercube on October 7, 2007 at 6:24 PM

Pelosi is praying for her own selfish demands and her liberal closed-minded desires? Right. That’s sure to be Gods will, whatever peloser wants. HA. Delusional is what she is.
.
Praying for a $112 BILLION DOLLAR LIE they call ‘health care for children’. The bill is set to reduce by 70% thru the years, all by itself.
Thats why they say its ONLY $35 Billion or whatever deceit they’re blowin’ out their pieholes.
.
Pure lies.
And she’s bringing God into this?
(duck, and watch for lightning)

shooter on October 7, 2007 at 6:28 PM

It was actually kind of interesting.. he busted her lying. She looked like a deer in the headlights when he asked her to specify what she prays for when she prays for Bush… she had to divert for a minute, and then go back and give the PC answer, “for his health, that makes the right decisions…”…

Then he gets her again, by asking if she prays for him to change his policy. She answers, “All the time, but let me draw a line”, and goes on to explain that she was raised… .not…. to? WTF. Man, these Dems get away with lying so much, they make fools out of themselves when someone is actually paying attention.

Also, this relates to something I emailed the fellas about, though I understand it’s not extremely important, so I get why they didn’t post on it… but I find it interesting, strictly because of the hypocrisy involved.

Faith `plays Every Role’ in Obama’s Life

How many times have we seen the media, as well as lefty blogs, and I want to say even some Dem pols scorching Bush as some Christian whacko who thinks he’s out there doing God’s bidding? Don’t expect to see the same treatment for Obama… after all, he’s black, so it just makes him soulful and hip to be a man of faith… even though, like with most Dems, that “faith”, is just a way to pull in a few more votes. And let’s not even get in to the black supremacist attitude of his church.

RightWinged on October 7, 2007 at 6:31 PM

Her ears look doughy.

VinceP1974 on October 7, 2007 at 6:33 PM

Nancy Pelosi worships at the feet of her Lord George Soros and pays daily homage to her holy trinity, Moveon.org, Media Matters, and Daily Kos.

pilamaye on October 7, 2007 at 6:48 PM

I am surprised that she prays and frankly, have my doubts, but I do not for a moment believe she has prayed for victory in Iraq. She’s a swarmy viper.

katieanne on October 7, 2007 at 7:45 PM

That was a weird converstion. Given the $3 trillion we spend on government I hope they rely on something more than prayer. Maybe, we should have prayed that our Defense Secretary had done more planning than praying when putting together the Iraq game plan.

It seems hard to imagine that God is anymore directly involved with legislative matters like SCHIP than he is with who wins a football game, whether a student gets a good grade, or an entertainer wins an award.

dedalus on October 7, 2007 at 8:15 PM

liar, liar, pants on fire.

Dumbs don’t pray because they don’t believe in religion.

Who would they pray to anyway? Satan?

madmonkphotog on October 7, 2007 at 8:26 PM

I watched this Pelosi/Wallace video at YouTube and immediately got distracted by the suggested videos that popped up. If you’ve never seen the interview the elder Wallace (Mike) did with Ayn Rand in 1959, it’s really a great interview. Mike can’t keep his scorn for her philosophy from showing through, but it’s refreshing to watch an interview in which a non-liberal interviewee is given so much uninterrupted air time to fully explain her point of view.

Sorry to be OT, but if anyone’s interested, the interview is in three parts: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

aero on October 7, 2007 at 8:32 PM

Yup, she’s a congressperson all right. Her mouth says one thing and her actions say another.

Notice how she glances directly at the camera when she made that statement. She wasn’t speaking from her heart but saying what she thinks the voters want to hear. Her words are targeted at the camera.

She’s lying through her teeth.

CrazyFool on October 7, 2007 at 8:40 PM

I say it was a good answer. Sounded like someone who understand praying, at least.

frankj on October 7, 2007 at 8:45 PM

My god! I was waiting for lightening to strike during that little exchange.

Sorry San Fran Nan, that ain’t gonna play well at home.

Who are you praying to by the way? The god of fist dildos and leather wear?

conservnut on October 7, 2007 at 8:47 PM

Only she knows if she prays, but she certainly was being a politician instead of a genuine person. It is clear that the dems are aware of the boon to their party it would be if we lost in Iraq.

Those types of people are despicable scum.

csdeven on October 7, 2007 at 9:38 PM

Update, now Obama says he wants to be an instrument of God? WTF!? Oh yeah, he’s a Dem, so that means he’s not a Christian extremist trying to impose a theocracy (which as we all know, is Bush’s primary goal).

During the nearly two hour service that featured a rock band and hip-hop dancers, Obama shared the floor with the church’s pastor, Ron Carpenter. The senator from Illinois asked the multiracial crowd of nearly 4,000 people to keep him and his family in their prayers, and said he hoped to be “an instrument of God.”

Yeah, no Dems pray ever (Hah! Dumbs. So original your play on words.)
If you want to specify that you don’t think Pelosi, or Reid for that matter, don’t pray, please do so. Otherwise, don’t paint us all into you narrow little corner that so perfectly flips the Kossian coin.

We pray for the children (who haven’t been aborted).
That’s all I could think of when she took the gavel. Here are my children and grandchildren (who haven’t been aborted)… I wondered how many more children would have been in attendance had they not been aborted.
And, you know, I am not a terribly reoigious person. I just can’t stand hypocracy.

This is perhaps a turning point.

A miniature political Midway.

CourtZero on October 7, 2007 at 11:32 PM

This won’t be a popular opinion, but I don’t think she was lying. Certainly she diverts her eyes as she is speaking, but she looks to the right. When one lies, they look to the left, sometimes with a darting glance. Now, whether she was spouting rhetoric or party lines like a good little politician, is another question. She knows how to say the “correct” words when questioned, but I don’t think she is trying to lie or hide something. I have seen clips where she had the darting look to the left when the question caught her off guard and she didn’t have a ready made answer.

Mallard T. Drake on October 7, 2007 at 11:44 PM

It’s been a lot easier for me to pray for Bush than it was to pray for predator president Clinton.

Mojave Mark on October 8, 2007 at 1:02 AM

At the same time as I pray for him [Bush] I pray for America’s children… Pelosi

One prayer for him, one prayer for them, one prayer for him, one prayer for them

or is she praying for him not to hurt the children?

Could she not say simply say: I pray for him? Answer, apparently not. Apparently the prayer must be framed in political context. Too bad. Cheap shots are big time in politics but small time in petitions addressed to God

Do you ever pray for him to change his policies? Wallace

All the time … When I was growing up in politics we were taught never to pray for a political outcome …Pelosi

Oh Boy. My own personal fear of the power of the Lord tells me not to treat Him like a useful sock puppet

Wallace took her apart. that is, he tempted her to pontificate and she bought it hook line and sinker. I suppose it is ok to prove a fish is a fish by the way it takes the bait but I felt sorry for her because she she was out of her league and using God as a prop.

Fear of the Lord would keep me from a prayer brag list like she handed Wallace, but then, I fear the Lord

Wallace turned her inside out. He is a very able interviewer. She is one sad puppy

Does Nancy Pelosi pray for “the children” and our president while participating in Gay Pride Parades with pedophiles?

Did she and the deceased Harry Hay, the staunch advocate of man/boy love, pray for the “boys” when they marched together in the 2001 Gary Pride Parade?

sinsing on October 8, 2007 at 7:57 AM

I must take exception with the commenters who question whether or not Pelosi prays and to whom. She was raised Catholic, and like many millions of liberal Catholics, I have no doubt that she prays to God the same way I do.

I belong to a Christian non-demoninational church in the Chicago area which is dominated by liberals and leftists. But they are Christians, almost all of them, and quite serious about God and Christ.

I think the real insight on this is from Wallace; sure, she prays, but for what? And in light of the Fox poll of Democrats who pray for Al Qaeda, I think he really nails this one. Pelosi prays, all right. For a painful, humiliating, military loss for Bush and America, so that she can come back at the end of the day and claim, again, that the Democrats support the troops by keeping them home, and out of our law schools…

Jaibones on October 8, 2007 at 8:55 AM
