Every time some kerfuffle surrounding this clown comes up, I really, really wish someone would finally produce a copy of NBC/MSNBC cutting to Matthews immediately following Gore’s concession speech, with him sitting there, tears streaming down his face, blubbering like a little kid.

Never been able to take the guy seriously since then. Probably evoke a few compassionate head tilts from the usual suspects, still, a very illuminating bit of footage…(no I don’t have it, can’t find it, but I did see it happen live)

As for the rest of it, the funniest thing about it is that the left has convinced itself, quite seriously, that Chris Matthews is a conservative.

Chris did write Kennedy and Nixon which was an excellent book, very empathetic to Nixon, and critical of the far left, so perhaps that has something to do with it. Too bad that Matthews has caught Bush-Cheney Derangement Syndrome.

Also, the irony of him complaining to an audience of Dems about attempts to silence corporate media hosts the same week that Harry Reid and 40 other Senators tried to get Clear Channel to silence Rush, not to mention ongoing attempts to shut him down at Armed Forces Radio cannot be overstated.

On another note, Media Matters is asking the Stalinist parrots to take action against Chris Matthews because he and others are extolling Mitt’s “well-sculpted” handsomeness.

I haven’t really thought about Stewart’s studio audience, though I do drive by them waiting in line on 11th Avenue from time-to-time. They are young New Yorkers who can get away from work in the afternoon, and their politics are undoubtedly hostile to Conservatives.

I’d point out interviews with Mike Huckabee, Andy Card, George Tenet, Lt. John Nagel, Michael Barrone, Lt. Col. Kevin Robbins. Stewart often expresses skepticism and usually employs sarcasm; however, the Crossfire-style trafficked more in the realm of condemnation. Even guests who Stewart gives a hard time to, like Stephen Hayes, he ultimately treats with a large measure of good will.

The point isn’t that he’s “in your face,” the point is that every time there’s a conservative on the audience waits with bated breath for the one-liners that are going to humiliate his opponent. They’re not even there to laugh; they’re there to applaud the smiting of the right-wing dragon, however politely it’s done. It’s bloodsport, the same type of crap that Crossfire trafficked in.
