I think the reason behind this is that it resonates with young people. Young people who think the older generation are addicted to symbols and not substance. The youth mentality that believes anything contrary is good. The youth mentality that is seeking an idealistic solution to all problems. A youth mentality that is so lacking in the practical experiences of life, that they think no one else ever thought what they think.

Obama is going after this group mentality. Obama is a black separatist and is also pandering to the angry black mentality.

The only danger in this strategy is that youth rarely come out to vote. They are all talk and no action. That leaves Hillary as the dem nominee.

I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest.
“Instead,” he said, “I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism.” B Hussien Obama

1. It isn't 'that pin' it is the American flag. People wore it after 911 not to keep from being asked to enlist, but to show solidarity with the victims who were attacked because they were associated with that flag

To me it was rather brave to wear that flag pin in defiance of the jihadists.

2. He intends to make this country great - by removing the trite symbol of its greatness

3. The flag is a substitute for true patriotism? You could have fooled me. We fools have been putting flags on the graves of soldiers for generations

Pompous puffinjay!

Forty flags with their silver stars,
Forty flags with their crimson bars,

Flapped in the morning wind: the sun
Of noon looked down, and saw not one.

Up rose old Barbara Frietchie then,
Bowed with her fourscore years and ten;

Bravest of all in Frederick town,
She took up the flag the men hauled down;

In her attic-window the staff she set,
To show that one heart was loyal yet.

Up the street came the rebel tread,
Stonewall Jackson riding ahead.

Under his slouched hat left and right
He glanced: the old flag met his sight.

"Halt!"—the dust-brown ranks stood fast,
"Fire!"—out blazed the rifle-blast.

It shivered the window, pane and sash;
It rent the banner with seam and gash.

Quick, as it fell, from the broken staff
Dame Barbara snatched the silken scarf;

She leaned far out on the window-sill,
And shook it forth with a royal will.

"Shoot, if you must, this old gray head,
But spare your country's flag," she said

Yeah, I know, that's why I said he sounds sanctimonious and pretty stupid. But not really all that offensive.

10 bucks….Hillary names him as our U.N. rep.

Limerick on October 4, 2007 at 6:45 PM

Nope, that spot is reserved for the "Co-president," (her words, not mine), Minister of Peace, and first lady Billy Jeff.

Obama must think he has the VP slot sewn up
I doubt Hillary wants him as VP or that he wants to run as VP. My guess is that Bill Richardson and Wes Clark are higher on the list.

Obama must think he has the VP slot sewn up, as Edwards has already failed as a VP candidate. It would be a flip/flop (Hah!) from the last time a woman was on the ticket: Mondale/Ferraro, 1984. I just checked, and according to one site, they won 13 out of 538 possible electoral votes. Ronald Reagan won in a landslide.
Obama could wear a flag pin the size of his ego, and still be trailing in the polls. And assuredly, if his team determined that not wearing the pin was detrimental to his campaign, he would be wearing one. And he'd probably have a pin photoshopped into all previous campaign event pictures.

Also, it doesn’t matter what you Believe will make this country great, sir. This country Is Great. See how that works?

The U.S. continues to be the best country in the world, but it has always been a work in progress. Unless we are critical we run the risk of becoming like a Super Bowl champion that feels the next season is owed to them.

I love the country and the flag but hate when someone uses the stars and stripes as part of their marketing, as though their views are endorsed by Old Glory.

It occurs to me that the reason that Obama shouldn't be president is his total dhimmi attitude which he learns from his liberal Christian church--not because of some silliness about a flag pin.

I'm 200% behind the United States and the West in whatever war we have, but I'm not about to wear a flag pin. It's simply repugnant to my sense of style.

This seems a good place to mention my Pol Pot "Peace through Action" t-shirt with peace symbols that I'm making to wear to anti-war protests. So far, every semi-moonbat I've mentioned my t-shirt design to thinks its hilarious and wants one for him or herself. I hope its because the semi-moonbats recognize that the communists are nuts, but I fear that they are just amused by the idea of wearing a mass murderer on their t-shirt.

Mr. Obama….You are running for the highest office in the United States of America. The flag is far wider and far deeper than the battles in Iraq. It is also far deeper than ’speaking out’ on matters.
Also, it doesn’t matter what you Believe will make this country great, sir. This country Is Great. See how that works?
You’re much too foolish to be my president.

The problem is not that he doesn't wear one. I don't either most of the time, but the problem is that his reasoning for not doing it sounds anti-American in an "I don't want to be associated with that flag" sort of thing. This is a terrible thing to make public if you are running for president and it definitely won't fly in Middle America.

These libs think that "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" you know, which I think is silly.

What flag does he think flies over the White House he's trying to get into?

Is he gonna refrain from pledging allegiance to it too?

Does he have a problem with the national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner?

Show some respect and grow a pair, Senator. Our troops get shot at everyday for being Americans, but they still proudly wear an American flag on their uniforms. If you're not gonna wear one, don't disrespect the meaning of it for those who do.
