Austria backpack bomber: Another “confused” unfortunate who just happened to be equipped to kill?

Man gets arrested sporting some kind of highly lethal weapon in a public place. Authorities ignore obvious signs of sudden jihad syndrome, and chalk the whole thing up to the fellow just being “confused.” Wash, rinse, repeat.

Austrian police arrested a man early Monday afternoon just moments after his backpack full of explosives and nails set off a metal detector at the security checkpoint he was trying to pass through before entering the embassy. Although Austrian officials have not released the full name of the man, Crime Library has received information that identifies him as 42-year-old Asim Cejanovic, originally of Bijeljina, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Austrian officials would identify the man only as Asim C.

Ethnic Muslims comprise almost 50 percent of the population of Bosnia-Herzegovina, part of the former Yugoslavia.

Who wants to guess which side of that religion coin he’ll eventually come down on?

Erik Buxbaum, Austria’s public security manager, said, “It’s too early to talk about Islamic radicals.”

It’s pretty much always too early to talk about them. Most people just refuse to do so.

Beginning almost immediately after police arrested the suspect, officials were quoted as saying the man seemed “confused.” They said he spoke in broken German during initial interrogation and that his answers were rambling.

“Confused” was the same word U.S. authorities applied to third-year medical student Houssein Zorkot in Dearborn, Mich. Zorkot ran a jihadist Web site dedicated to the terror group Hezbollah until police nabbed him in a park last month dressed in military garb, with his face painted black, and toting a loaded AK-47.

So he was dazed and confused, but at some point decided to stick a bomb on himself. But heavens it’s too early to talk about what might have motivated him to put that bomb on himself and attempt to enter the US embassy. Nothing to see here, folks.

Oh, I don’t like when you’re mystifyin’ me
Oh, don’t leave me so confused, now
Whoa, baby

All I can do is shake my head in disbelief.

Yep, just like the “Miami Seven” are “just amatures” … until they bring down the Sears Tower, THEN they’re experts and worthy of our derision.

Great attitide, wait until AFTER they kill 10,000 people. Then read ‘em their rights.

Tony737 on October 4, 2007 at 11:02 PM

It’s an act of God that we are actually catching these people before they can cause some serious damage.

Good to see Europe vigilant as the beast is at their gates…or rather attempting to enter ours.

Officer Barbrady says: “Move along people, there’s nothing to see here.”

mojowire on October 4, 2007 at 11:06 PM

This is sad. This guy was stopped on American soil (our Embassy) trying to murder Americans. He pretends to act confused when caught, right out of the jihadist playbook. Like the two “college students” stopped with “fireworks” in their car.
Muslims such as these are cowards and losers. If they had any courage at all, when caught, they would say “You’re right. I was trying to kill people.” but instead they act confused, a poor innocent.
I know I should have compassion for those trapped in the false religion of Islam, but sorry-I’ve none to spare for scum like this guy.

Who wants to guess which side of that religion coin he’ll eventually come down

Look, as we should all know by now there is no way this perp could be a member of the Religion of Peace. Unless of course he had peaceful intentions.

Confuse THIS mfer. ( gettin’ pretty upset here)
.

Bryan-It’s pretty much always too early to talk about them. Most people just refuse to do so.

Yep,but actually I think it’s TOO LATE to TALK about Islamic radicals, it’s time to ACT on these Islamic radicals . It’s also too late to separate Islamic and Radicals, the are one and the same. At least until they prove me wrong (no words, it’s too late remember, proof ! in their actions)

That reminds of the story about the Judge who gave the unsuccessful suicide bomb probation because it was his first offense.

[Bryan] Who wants to guess which side of that religion coin he’ll eventually come down on?

No guessing required; his name gives it away. Asim is no Slavic name; in his part of the world it is a Muslim name.

The Austrians might as well have painted a scarlet letter on him.

Pre-emptive comment about my calling his name a Muslim name: The name itself is derived from Arabic, but in his part of the world by tradition it is given only to Muslims. This POS is not from a post-modern culture that thinks naming their kids Aisha or Raheem is trendy or hip. The only identity that his name fits is a Muslim one, and we know that ahead of time.

P.S. Am hoping to hear some scuttlebutt from eyewitnesses by this weekend, but at this rate…

Keep talking a good game, but keep mocking Tancredo at the same time. The only man who seems to get it.

People say what they want, and then do the opposite. Don’t come whining when the sh!t hits the fan.

Bernard Goldberg says it best.

Isnt this the same kind of bs they tried saying after busting the goose creek rocket hobbyist?

Am I missing something here ???

No. Then we try to find out what WE did to CAUSE them to do it. Must find the ROOT CAUSE.

Now I get it.

Osama bin Laden is just confused.

We can just ignore him now, nothing to see here.

desertdweller on October 5, 2007 at 12:28 AM

I’d put Lil’ Asim on an Austrian ham and beer diet until he talks coherently.

T J Green on October 5, 2007 at 12:32 AM

OK, enough. Enough. What’s it going to take for us to just lower the boom already? This isn’t a criminal matter, where anyone has the “right” to commit the crime, and we aren’t even allowed to act until after it’s over, when we’re picking up the pieces.

The Islamists have made their intentions quite clear, spelling it out in their Koran. There are no “reform” or “casual” Islamists, as they would be apostates who would be killed.

It’s time to take the offense, dontcha think?

stonemeister on October 5, 2007 at 12:37 AM

Rick, I’m sorry, you’re right. What was I thinking? Arrest them? WE’RE the ones who should be arrested! I was just being islamophobic. If we would just convert, they’d stop trying to kill us!

The sad part, Rick, is that there are people who actually believe what you sarcastically said (and said so well, good job).

Tony737 on October 5, 2007 at 12:41 AM

Had to tell this story:

”It was really cold and a nice lady had a warm blanket. A poisonous snake nearby was shivering and begged the lady just to pick him up long enough for him to get warm. She resisted saying “you are a poisonous snake and you will bite me and I’ll die!” He begged and pleaded and promised not to bite her so she finally gave in and picked him up and wrapped him in the blanket. He bit her and as she was laying there dying she asked “why did you bite me – you promised you wouldn’t?” As he slithered away he looked back and said: “Lady you knew I was a snake when you picked me up!”

stonemeister on October 5, 2007 at 12:44 AM

How do you arrest a suicide bomber? With a sponge?

Whatta ya say to a suicide bomber? “Betcha can’t do that AGAIN!” (I stole that from the ventriliquist guy with the grumpy old man puppet).

Tony737 on October 5, 2007 at 12:45 AM

Stone, that’s just like the “Frog and Scorpion” story.

A scorpion wanted to get across a river and asks a frog for help. The frog says “No, you’ll sting me.” The scorpion says “Don’t be silly, if I do that, we’ll BOTH drown.” So the frog lets the scorpion climb up onto his back and half way across the river the scorpion stings the frog. The frog says “Why’d you do that? Now we’re both gonna drown.” The scorpion says “Because I’m a scorpion and that’s what I do.”

Both are perfect examples of what we’re facing. The scorpion/snake is the islamofacsist and the old lady/frog is the leftylibtard.

All of (Western) Europe is one big PC clusterfake. BDS here is a mild version of what they’ve ’suffered’ through in the last 7 years.

Right now they’re all too busy in Austria sitting around testing the new wine, and eating all sorts of goodies. They. Can’t. Be. Bothered. With. Anything. Else.

So long as that social check/service is there, the new wine is good, and the food is plenty, it’s all peace in the all the world. George Bush is the antichrist.

After 1500 years of this behavior when are we going to stop talking about islamic “radicals” and start talking about islam?

He was/is indeed confused in the same way that all Muslims are confused. When your holy book commands you to slaughter non-Muslims what’s a holy guy to do?

Yeah, broken German laced with arabic.

I would be confused too if I were minutes away from blowing myself up and got caught…. DENIAL,DENIAL,DENIAL… I wonder what the excuse will be when one of these confused ones becomes pro by detonating the big one…

We might as well get used to this crap. We’re going to be seeing plenty of it here in the States soon. Did you see the company (on TV) who’s selling kevlar backpacks for school kids.

Ernest on October 5, 2007 at 9:57 AM

I’m getting so tired of this crap!

We’re always going to be on the losing side of this fight.

A man is caught with a bomb on his back, set to kill US citizens, and he’s “confused.”

A man kills 10,000 US citizens, and it’s somehow our fault.

And here Bush is trying to protect us, and is getting yelled at by the granola (flakes, fruits, and nuts) of our society, and mainstream media eats it up.

Disgusted, and hoping that the rapture will take place SOON. I don’t want my sons–or any other children for that matter–to inherit this kind of country anymore; a country where we’re leaving it worse off than when we inherited it from our parents and grandparents.

Dead presidents are rolling over in their graves so fast they’re spinning like tops.

Kill the terrorists, secure the border, and give me back my freedom.

jedijson on October 5, 2007 at 10:14 AM

If it wasn’t for the U.S and NATO, the entire muslim population of Bosnia would have been virtually cleansed. What a way to pay us thanks.

Yeah, but some people just don’t pay attention. If you have your nails and explosives right next to your lunchables in the pantry, and you happen to be thinking about something else…what do you expect? You end up having a very long, hard and CONFUSING day.

Sheesh! What are you suggesting? Internment camps?!!!

You don’t need to go to their level in order to fight them. The day you do is the day you become like them.

Rhyme not intended.

Sheesh! What are you suggesting? Internment camps?!!!

Just curious, how would you fight them Darnell? Keep in mind, any forcefull action or action shy of asking them nicely not to kill can be interpreted as “going to their level”

Bearhopi on October 5, 2007 at 1:35 PM

Perhaps I suffer from Islamophobia too!

Let’s see, I’m scared that the people who practice Islam will one day blow me up, behead me or subjugate me. It would seem I have a phobia of these things.

I guess I’ll just have to wait til someone shows me how to tell the “good” muslims from the “bad” muslims…

Until then, here I come Islamophobia!!

The source told Crime Library that the Muslim prayer book Cejanovic had in his backpack when he was arrested was titled Namaz u Islamu. Only about 2,000 copies of the book were published, according to the source, by a group known as UMMET, which translated into English stands for The Society to Promote Islamic Culture in Austria.

Ah yes, he was promoting Islamic culture by putting a bomb in his backpack. Isn’t multi-culturalism a wonderful thing!
