Why is Jim Brossard guilty? He stole an american flag and destroyed a mexican flag. So what. Let him pay for the loss to the owner.

It just seems to me that the u.s. flag has become worthless yet the mexican flag is valued. By who? I want to know why a mexican flag in the u.s. is more protected in the united state than any other. I am irish yet it would never occure to me to fly the flag of ireland above the american flag. Or to fly it all. Do you know why? I am not an irishman but an american.

When a person flies a flag they are saying something. If a person flies the mexican flag above the u.s. flag they are saying that I AM A MEXICAN living in the u.s.

Flags are not just a piece of cloth but an expression of self.

Of course the ACLU has now stepped in. Federal law only “suggests” how the flag should be flown. So now the Patriot who cut down the Mexican Flag flying over the American Flag is in legal “hot water”. Two sources for this one…

OK this is a new twist…2 people are debating on who serves this country “better”, each one is saying the other person does (maybe this happens on the liberal boards).

Several federal courts have examined this law and held that the flag rules are not mandatory and cannot be enforced.

Want to make a bet on that?

Sorry for the mis quote but the idea that the Flag was just a piece of cloth pissed me off. I have held the American Flag that was draped over my Father’s coffin and the American Flag that was flown over our Nations Capipal Building in HONOR of my Father. IT’S NOT JUST A PIECE OF CLOTH TO ME!!!!!!

I haven’t served in the military. Personally, I have mixed feelings about doing so myself.

Hard as it might be, we can all agree that the flag and the laws s/b respected, and that there will always be ignoramuses around so that we can have future threads.
