I didn’t say they’re wealthy and they don’t need to be wealthy. If every person in America gave me a dollar I’d be a multimillionaire. That doesn’t make every person in America wealthy. The reason why stupid people are a bottomless well full of cash is because they are willig to spend it on a crap product from which one can profit more than if they went through the trouble to make a produt worth the cash. iCraps are the electronic equivalent of a pet rock.

You need to have a look at the HTC 8525 that At&T has out now. Win. Mobile 6, sync with outlook AND POP3 email providers like yahoo in one interface and it takes MICRO SD…I put in a 2gig for $25 because i’m cheap….2mpxl camera, unbelievable web browsing speed. Uh, but you’re not awesome, because it’s not an Apple… and having an iPod or iPhone is the only thing that makes you awesome, and having a Mac computer (vs. anything with Windows) makes you edgy. Just ask Splashman, he’s the edgiest.

Apple is a cult. I had a friend who bought Apple because he liked the “lifestyle” which is just about the same as AP’s “Brand identity”

Go to YouTube and type in “Crash differently” and hear from some balanced Mac users who aren’t afraid to point out the (many) flaws in the Mac platform.

I’m not familiar with you, but can I assume you’re a liberal, since you took one line out of my lengthy post completely out of context so you could throw a drive-by line at me, instead of having to argue against any of the reasoned points I put forth? Again, I didn’t even bash the product. I pointed out how useless these would be for most people, how it would cost a ton more than the price of admission, and I mocked people like yourself who’s world revolves around their iPod and getting pissed off at people who don’t worship the device like you do. I feel like giving you a Tyler Durdin line here “You are not your @#@#% khakis” (but replace khakis with iPod).

I don’t know what AT&T means by “data”, but I’ll assume that’s their internet service. Even if that’s the case, you’re still paying out the ass for minutes that will disappear extremely quickly. I’m not saying it’s a bad device, I’m saying for someone like AP in particular (and most people), it’s a waste, because you’d never use it enough to make it worth it, or if you did, you’d pay tons to do so. It’s only worth it if you’re like a business guy or something who spends a lot of time in airports or on subways, etc.

You’re not going to be getting your greasy McDonald’s fingers all over it to read HotAir while sitting in ketchup. Anyway, those plans are expensive for the minutes they come with, especially if you’re using the internet in any significant way. You could keep them low if you’re simply popping on to check the weather, etc. but you can already do that with most other phones for free or cheap… or look just about anywhere else to get that type of “fast” information.

Ah yes, the old “iPod/iPhone users are suckas” non-argument.

Geez, so much antipathy to Apple. Makes me wonder exactly how many commenters are posting from Mom’s computer, after losing an argument over the size of their allowance. Dudes, it’s no sin if you can’t afford the real thing. Just try again next week, and promise that if she’ll raise your allowance, you’ll let her touch your iPhone once. That oughta do it.

Now, if you can’t appreciate the real thing, that’s more serious. In fact, I’m not sure there’s a cure. But hey, that particular deficiency has its benefits — economy, for instance. In about two weeks, you should be able to get a new Zune for $32.99, including fries and a drink.

It’s funny that you say this, considering that the majority of iPod users are high school and college kids who’s parents bought them for them.. and then bought them the new one.. and then the next new one.. .and then one to match their backpack, etc. etc.

It’s not that people can’t afford them. It’s not even about it being a bad and overpriced item. It’s about the fact that “owning an iPod” is part of being a hipster these days. You’ll be the richest, yet grungiest looking wannabe hippy college kid, but you’ll have the latest ipod filled with thousands of songs, and you’ll be so cool walking down the street with your (stealing a term from Gutfeld here) “iPod face”.

It’s just one of those annoying things like MySpace (or Facebook I think is the cool one now. But maybe it will become so popular, that all those “individuals” will go back to MySpace to prove how edgy they are). There’s nothing really wrong with these things by them selves… but there’s something wrong with the obnoxious obsession some people have with them, these days.

What’s funny is the fact that you’re clearly one of those people, based on your comment about the Zune.. as if there is some sort of competition. The only competition is in the heads of you iPod people. No one cares if you think your iPod is cooler, get over it.

(Disclamer: I don’t own any mp3 players, because they serve no purpose to me… I work from home and would get virtually no use out of them. I’ve owned a few that I bought only to resell, and debated keeping one until I realized I’d never use it. But I’m sure they weren’t half as super awesome as your iPod, and you could prove it!)
