9/11 has made us stupid.
I honor, and weep for, all those murdered on that day. But our reaction to 9/11 — mine included — has knocked America completely out of balance, and it is time to get things right again.

And it also seems that the South’s view of “New Yorkers” isn’t all that peachy. I was pulled over multiple times in Maryland and Virginia in my car, I totally believe because I had NY or Connecticut plates on my car.

Probably. My father moved here from Wisconsin as a child and learned quick to hide his accent. Like out of a cartoon, when he’d slip up he was actually attacked.

I think it’s mostly that we’re prideful people. I grew up with a saying about Texas really being the largest state in the nation. “Just wait ’til the ice [in Alaska] melts.” Apparently we’re in favor of global warming.

I have to say I liked it. Consider what would have happen if 9/11 had been in Atlanta or New Orleans. The Yankees would have just yawned and gone about their business. Now we have to hear about it every year for the rest of our lives, now that is terrorism.

I’ve lived in Texas my whole life. There’s certainly still some north vs. south stuff going on, though mostly because of how we’re seen as a bunch of cowboys and rednecks.

And as for that Pace Picante ad….I remember the “get a rope” part was edited out after a short while. I guess they got complaints about it or something…

That is no joke. For years now the New England Blue Noses have been stereotyping southerners as dumb, ignorant, knuckle dragging, examples of the lowest level of human evolution. The liberals constantly hurl insults our way and speak in demeaning terms about anybody with a southern accent. I love the fact that a region of the country who can only find a black man at the the exit of a coal mine preaching southerners about how prejudiced and bigoted we are. If you remove the population of DC and Philadelphia New Englanders would go their entire life and never see a black person except on their professional ball teams.
Except for the fact that so much of our financial infrastructure is in New York it would be no great loss. Charlotte is becoming the new financial center, and with better weather, so soon maybe New York really won’t matter.
As much as I dislike New York I do have absolute disgust for California.
