Via Shawn Wasson, we’ve got grenades, nails, “Islamic literature,” and a 42-year-old Bosnian man who took off after he triggered the metal detector. Stand by for updates.

Update: The man seemed “very confused.”

Update: “‘There were a lot of nails in that bag. Had it exploded, it would have had an enormous shrapnel effect,’ Doris Edelbacher of Austria’s federal counterterrorism office told reporters.”

Blowback

We’ve seen a number of stories lately how Al Qaeda has been recruting Europeans, though we’ll see what shakes out here.

Would like to know what kind of “Islamic literature” he had.

Life is very, very rough for the terrorists.

Getting caught is not part of the game plan.

Not dying and not meeting Allah, not having the 72 promised virgins… is terrible, very terrible!

Mcguyver on October 1, 2007 at 11:01 AM

This breaking news brought to you courtesy of the religion of piece………Pieces of you blown over here and some over there and some splattered to the wall…

doriangrey on October 1, 2007 at 11:02 AM

Did he think he was in “The Matrix”? What kind of moron would try to get through a metal detector KNOWING he has explosives? Send him to Gitmo!

well isn’t it nice to see how some of those Bosnians wish to replay America for saving there asses from the christain serbs . Anyone else here think we ended up backing the wrong groups in that conflict .
and those in Bosnian converted to the religion of piece a long long time ago .

Mojack420 on October 1, 2007 at 11:13 AM

Hahaha! Funny post Woodman!

This is great news, they keep gettin’ busted BEFORE they can hurt anybody. Keeping their dumbasses in the news, keeping us aware of the threat, but failing everytime. Good stuff. We must NEVER get complacent. I wish they’d all just stop and go back to herding goats or whatever they do, but until then, keep catching them in the act or killing them on the battlefield. That crushes their moral and recruitment.

Tony737 on October 1, 2007 at 11:15 AM

very confused“?

Is that the new code for “very Muslim“?

profitsbeard on October 1, 2007 at 11:20 AM

Mojack, in retrospect, post 9/11, it seems we backed the wrong side. But Milosovic was a scumbag who murdered women and children. So it’s hard to say what side (if any) we should be on there.

I do remember wondering what they hell we were doing helping those on the same side as Kaddafi, Saddam and Arafat, but the Serbs were just as bad. They were not killing in the name of Christ, though, let’s not let the media paint that picture.

Tony737 on October 1, 2007 at 11:21 AM

they are definatley recruiting more nonROP looking people lately.

trailortrash on October 1, 2007 at 11:21 AM

“A Bosian man now living in Austria”

Immigration to western countries should be halted immediately and reversed.

how long before this tool gets a ACLU lawyer to defend his civil rights ???

Mojack420 on October 1, 2007 at 11:26 AM

There is no ACLU in Austria…

Mojack420 on October 1, 2007 at 11:13 AM

Yes … thank Clinton and the European scumbags for that.

darwin on October 1, 2007 at 11:31 AM

doriangrey on October 1, 2007 at 11:29 AM

Oh come on you don’t think a little thing like that would get in the way of the ACLU pro terrorist lawyers.

Mojack420 on October 1, 2007 at 11:36 AM

Ummm, yes, since Austria wont allow them to represent anyone in Austria and probably wont even allow ACLU scumbags in the country…Yes I think it would stop them. Not all countries suffer the same deranged form of suicidal death wish that allows the ACLU to exist in America…

doriangrey on October 1, 2007 at 11:39 AM

I don’t know what people are getting excited over. John Edwards has already revealed that the “war on terror” is just a slogan that Karl Rove invented. The guy is clearly a plant.

Oh, and I question the timing.

doriangrey on October 1, 2007 at 11:39 AM

Maybe if he is prosecuted in Austria but since this happened on US soil wouldn’t he be getting a free ride to gitmo and hence ACLU lawyers defending his civil rights.

Mojack420 on October 1, 2007 at 11:54 AM

Buy some nails, some Army surplus paper weights, make a wrong turn and look at what happens!!!!

When will this nonsense about terrorism stop?

Isn’t there a Nazi in the Austrian parliament? All starts to come together if you think about it. Neocons

Hening on October 1, 2007 at 12:04 PM

During initial questioning, the man “seemed very confused,” Austrian investigators reported.

Translation

“you mean I don’t get 72 virgins?”

Mojack420 on October 1, 2007 at 12:23 PM

I can just see his lawyer now…

“Really… he was… a…. carpenter… yeah… thats the ticket…

He was there to… put up a wall… and tear down an old one… so he has a grenade to tear it down…and nails to put the new one up…

Your honor… my client is nothing more than a victim of Islamophobia…

Yeah…. thats the ticket…”

No!

Tony737, who’s generally very crisp in his thinking, got a little muddled, above. Don’t go there my friend.

The European big-mouths should have gotten involved to stop the travesties in their own back yard sooner, and so should have president Clinton; and, yes, they eventually, late, backed the right side. And, we’re still there, not to forget, for the ’smarties’ on the ‘get out of Iraq now’ contingent.

Don’t mix all Muslims in with the islamofascists!

Hening on October 1, 2007 at 12:04 PM

Muddled thinking too, my dear Hening, and projection…

The entire Austrian airforce probably consists of a Piper Twin Comanche; however, make no mistake about it, they are on our side, and they face waaaay more challenges with radical Muslims than we do, at this point, anyhow. This is not the Austria of the Anschluss, circa 1938.

The Albanian president staged a massacre of Muslims to trick America into war. He admitted this to Richard Holbrooke on his deathbed.

aengus on October 1, 2007 at 2:13 PM

Don’t mix all Muslims in with the islamofascists!

The Albanians had/have extensive conatct with the Ablanians and the KLA were an al-Qaeda affiliate.

aengus on October 1, 2007 at 2:16 PM

For nearly half a century Albania experienced a brand of communism unknown to the rest of Eastern Europe. A fateful blend of isolationism and dictatorship kept this tiny Balkan country the poorest and most repressive in all of Europe. During his forty-year reign, the Albanian leader Enver Hoxha banned religion, forbade travel and outlawed private property. Any resistance to his rule was met with severe retribution, including internal exile, long-term imprisonment and execution. His domination of Albania’s political, economic and social life was absolute.

Enver Hoxha is not all of Albania.

Entelechy on October 1, 2007 at 2:34 PM

Islam = Religion of Piece(s)! As someone above stated, that is what they leave behind. Nothing but pieces of innocent victims of deranged murderers.

TruthToBeTold on October 1, 2007 at 8:23 PM

What’s an islamofascist?

There are only good muslims and bad muslims and in our eyes the good muslims are behaving very badly while the bad muslims are behaving as we would wish. Of course islam will tell you truthfully the opposite.

Crazy world it is of late.

BL@KBIRD on October 1, 2007 at 9:21 PM

Bosnian, it makes sense now. What has the US ever done for the Muslims of Bosnia?

hadsil on October 1, 2007 at 10:08 PM

aengus on October 1, 2007 at 2:13 PM

Interesting. Just to clarify, which Albanian president are we talking about? And we would no longer be talking about Bosnia, correct?

RD on October 1, 2007 at 11:48 PM

As to the takedown at the embassy, if I hear any scuttlebutt I will be sure to post a follow-up comment by tomorrow evening…

RD on October 1, 2007 at 11:53 PM

Update: haven’t heard a thing yet.
