Using is using. How they support the habit, whether legal or not is secondary to the issue. Should sentences be similar for using drugs? Yes of course they should. But the upstanding citizens with money can also afford the legal team to get away with it – not a luxury the poor liquor robbing store meth head has.

And there is not bigotry in this. Bigotry can be directed at people of certain economic brackets, not just race.

I always love the argument that there is a sentencing different for crack vs coke.

Yes…..but what are the circumstances? Cokeheads generally have money!!! They’re not robbing liquor stores for their fix. Poor people who can’t afford coke buy crank or meth. They have no more money, so they start committing crimes to keep up the habit. While I’m sure there are few cases where bigotry is involved in sentencing, the vast majorty are not. The sentencing fits the crime.

Well, I graduated from one of those “poor” rural schools (actually ranked 63 out of 64 Parishes, in a state that, thank God for MS and AR, was ranked 3rd from the bottom). I think I have done rather well. I have a JD and my sister has a masters in administration.

It has nothing to do with money for schools and everything to do with family support. My parents were involved with everything we did and really pushed school.

So, John, I have no idea what you are talking about. It seems I came from that America that needs your government aid and I still have seen it. It is an individual thing, not a government thing. It is called personal responsibility and it applies to everything you do it life. As I have found sometimes you have to take a job for less to get to the one that pays more.

Inner-city people are more likely to shoot over crack cocaine than suburban people over powder cocaine. I see the difference and I’m not a lawyer even. Does this mean Silky is stupid or just a political hack.

Damn. I hate Lib/Democrats. Confess! EVERYTHING you did caused this situation!

Not a word about the glorification of violence in music and from Hollywood. Glorification of racism and stereotypes. Not a word about how to get rid of slums, ghettos, and housing projects. Democrat creations.

Education or re-Education. Multiculturalism has got to go. black or white, some things ain’t right. How about Universal Education? Standards?

Incentives for bad teachers to go to bad neigborhoods? Year that will work. More teachers, sure – but good ones.

The short answer “What will you do?” Vote Republican.

There is nothing different being done here by the pony than anything he did for years in court. He doesn’t need to believe in what he’s saying, he just needs to convince his audience, so he tells him what they want to hear.

The progressive crowd loves being pandered to, so they eat it all up.

Clinton-esque to the extreme. Bill, that is, Hillary hasn’t figured out how to pander without pissing off half the country.

Thanks Reuben. I was wondering what he did to go over the line. In his exchanges with me, he revealed how unstable and deranged he was. (BTW, The Sinner, I know you’re reading this, so I want you to know I’m dead serious. It’s not a “difference of opinion” or even a passion issue. You are clearly a troubled person, and I mean it when I say you’re unstable. I have trouble even having the sympathy to tell you to “get help”, though you should, because I feel like you’re still coherent enough that you should recognize the problem on your own.)
