They have sold their sole to George Soros!!!

Pretty dangerous for this country in my opinion.

My democrat congressman supports the condemnation of MoveOn. I sent him a thank you support note.

If your congressman opposed the rebuke, then you need to express yourself.

Don't let them get away with it.

This was a proper, if incomplete, response to moveon.org's ad. Step 2 should be revocation of their tax-exempt entity, and IRS/FBI investigation of them and their contributors, and an investigation of George Soros himself.

Investors Business Daily has a number of articles about Soros, what he stands for, and to whom he contributes.

From The Soros Threat to Democracy:

How many people, for instance, know that James Hansen, a man billed as a lonely "NASA whistleblower" standing up to the mighty U.S. government, was really funded by Soros' Open Society Institute , which gave him "legal and media advice"?

That's right, Hansen was packaged for the media by Soros' flagship "philanthropy," by as much as $720,000, most likely under the OSI's "politicization of science" program.

and here's more about the mischief that Soros does:

That's not the only case. Didn't the mainstream media report that 2006's vast immigration rallies across the country began as a spontaneous uprising of 2 million angry Mexican-flag waving illegal immigrants demanding U.S. citizenship in Los Angeles, egged on only by a local Spanish-language radio announcer?

Turns out that wasn't what happened, either. Soros' OSI had money-muscle there, too, through its $17 million Justice Fund. The fund lists 19 projects in 2006. One was vaguely described involvement in the immigration rallies. Another project funded illegal immigrant activist groups for subsequent court cases.

So what looked like a wildfire grassroots movement really was a manipulation from OSI's glassy Manhattan offices. The public had no way of knowing until the release of OSI's 2006 annual report.

Meanwhile, OSI cash backed terrorist-friendly court rulings, too.

Do people know last year's Supreme Court ruling abolishing special military commissions for terrorists at Guantanamo was a Soros project? OSI gave support to Georgetown lawyers in 2006 to win Hamdan v. Rumsfeld — for the terrorists.

In George Soros: The Man, The Mind And The Money Behind MoveOn, we see that:

But Soros is no hands-off donor. According to the Open Society Institute's Web site: "Despite the breadth of his endeavors, Soros is personally involved in planning and implementing many of the foundation network's projects."

Soros says he gives away about $400 million annually.

It's an admirable picture, but "philanthropy" may be the wrong word. Unlike, say, Bill Gates, who really does put the bulk of his charity into helping the world's poor through medical services, Soros tends to fund pressure groups and foundations he misleadingly characterizes as promoting "civil society" and "democracy."

The image gives him moral cover to manipulate democracies whose voter verdicts he opposes.

And we find out exactly why moveon.org has become so powerful (and rich), and why:

And since 2003, tearing down what he views as the "fascist" tyranny of the United States, as he has put it, is "the central focus of my life."

Through networks of nongovernmental organizations, Soros intends to ruin the presidency of George W. Bush "by any legal means necessary" and knock America off its global pedestal. "His view of America is so negative," says Sen. Joe Lieberman, who, like Gen. David Petraeus, has been a target of Soros' electoral "philanthropy." "The places he's put his money are . . . so destructive that it unsettles me." Soros' aim seems to be to make the U.S. just another client state easily controlled by the United Nations and other one-world groups where he has lots of friends.

Best known among these groups is MoveOn.org, a previously small fringe-left group to which Soros has given $5 million since 2004. Bulked up by cash, the group now uses professional public relations tactics to undercut the Iraq War effort, with its latest a full-page New York Times ad that branded Gen. Petraeus "General Betray Us."

And, according to IBD, Soros has been successful:

Media Matters (and MoveOn.org) succeeded last year in denying incumbent Lieberman the Democratic nomination for Senate in Connecticut and effectively drove the moderate out of his own party. Net result: Fewer Democrats, including today's crop running for office, are willing to challenge any Soros-financed pressure group.

Yep. He owns them, lock, stock, and barrel.

And, he's directly involved in stealing elections and corrupting the electoral system, according to IBD:

Soros' efforts go beyond spin. He has also bankrolled groups involved in the manipulation of elections, an activity that has increased since his money came into the picture. Two groups — Americans Coming Together and the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — were sanctioned recently by the Federal Election Commission for fraud.

And he is THE MAJOR MONEY behind domestic terrorism:

Soros additionally finances groups best described as helpful to terrorists. Since 1998, he has given the American Civil Liberties Union $5 million to empower criminals, including lawsuits on behalf of terrorists' "civil rights."

Soros' Open Society Institute gave $20,000 for the legal defense of radical attorney Lynne Stewart. She was convicted in 2002 of abetting jailed terrorists after the 1993 World Trade Center bombing....

...He has handed $3.1 million to the left-wing Tides Foundation, which funds organizations, such as the Sea Shepherds, Earth First! and the Ruckus Society, that have condoned or engaged in eco-terrorism.

The above alone ought to justify DHS and Justice to investigate Soros and strip him of his naturalized citizenship and his immediate deportation.

Yes, investigating Moveon, Soros, Open Society Institute, IS the proper job of Congress. Indictments for treason (aiding and abetting), sedition (domestic terrorism), and vote fraud should be returned against George Soros.

George Soros is a CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER to the United States of America.

Exit question: 341 + 79 + 12 not voting = 432, not 435. Why aren’t the other three members accounted for? Pelosi isn’t listed at all, presumably because the Speaker typically doesn’t vote, but why not just stick her in the NV column then?

There are currently two vacancies due to Marty Meehan's resignation and the death of Paul Gilmor.

What do the 79 nays have in common?

They are all Dems, in districts that would never ever vote them out. How they(the 79) is how the real Dems feel. They just can't vote that way because they could lose their seat. But these 79 could kill their grandmother, and their district would say that is is ok because grandma was a Republican.

Democrats talking points.

It took them this long to decide that they were on the wrong side of this issue?

I’d rather they do some real work insteaed of political posturing

Not me, the less they do the better. Keep them busy with this kind of stuff so they can't screw anything up!

"Wisconsin Rep. David Obey, a veteran Democrat, recounted how he left the Republican Party during the era of Sen. Joseph McCarthy, R-Wis., ...."

That sounds like it's seared into his memory. Per Wiki, David Obey was born in 1938. McCarthy was senator until 1957. Obey would have, at the latest, been 19 (maybe 20) in 1957 when he "left he Republican Party." Must have been the Republican Youth he left, since at that time you needed to be 21 to register and join a political party.

I have to admit, though, it was an excellent sound bite.

How about we be fair to California and the United States and put Feinstein in prison right next to Randy "Duke" Cunningham???

Hey, I’m ‘represented’ by Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer and Sam Farr. I’ve got no representation in Congress at all. I’ve got taxation, though…

trigon on September 26, 2007 at 2:49 PM
I have two of the three--my rep is Maxine Waters. She was among the 79, of course, being the chair of the Out of Iraq Caucus.

While I can’t stand move-on, doesn’t the government have better things to do?

Moveon should have been charged with sedition, so no actually they really shouldn't have anything better to do.

My representative is William Jefferson who, no surprise, is one of the 79 bad guys. I guess it is tough to muster moral outrage with MoveOn when one has federal indictments stemming from 90K in marked FBI money in one's freezer.

Agreed, and by those whom would claim to be above that. The fact that the Times gave MoveOn a discount - for a political add - which, I believe is illegal, isn't generating an investigation. Just condemnation lip service.

Probably only because he though he was voting to authorize an investigation into the alien base on the darkside of the moon.
