Continuing with our theme of unspeakably disgusting video this morning. This is the Palestinians’ specialty, of course, although when it comes in the context of a school pageant there’s at least some ambiguity as to whether the kids realize what they’re doing or whether it’s just cowboys and Indians. This comes from the Islamic State of Iraq, a.k.a. Al Qaeda’s Iraqi front group, so our budding mujahedeen here may well be out in the field and already living the dream. The Taliban’s allegedly sent six-year-old suicide bombers after U.S. troops and has for sure used prepubescent warriors to behead accused spies, but this is the first time I’ve seen anything like a child martyrdom video.
No translation, but you know how these things go by now. According to the Blotter, he’s reciting quotes from Mohammed. The narrator’s introduction goes: “In conclusion we say to Bush, the Muslim ummah [Muslim community] that you have tried with all your strength to wage war against, is an ummah [community] that will never die. And it has, with the blessings of God, allotted for you a new generation of Mujjahideen.”

I definitely think this is partially a cowboy and Indians thing. Like all kids, especially boys, they imitate what they see their role models doing as “grown ups.” I use the term loosely here. Even so, I know these kids are tragically being indoctrinated from toddlerhood into the religion of jihad for allah.

A mind, no matter what age, is a terrible thing to waste; and we are being forced to watch it and believe it.
The adults (they have not earned the label parent) of these children have wasted the mind, soul, and innocence of their children because they do not want to go themselves or are not fully involved in the children’s lives.
If we ignore our children we face the same consequences.

I was just thinking…you know how kids in Iraq like to run up to US soldiers, get candy and gifts and just be interested in what’s going on…
Has there ever been an instance where a child like this has been used as a human bomb to explode while amongst troops? And if not, is it bound to happen?

If he was female, he’d be marrying age for their prophet so this isn’t really shocking. You’d have to actually expect more of the Palistinians as human beings to be shocked. I just don’t see them jumping for those brass rings.
I’m reading ‘Because They Hate’ by Brigitte Gabriel. She details her life as a Lebanese Christian child when civil war broke out. Lebanon was the only nation to take in the third wave of Palestinian refugees that even the Arabs didn’t want. The story didn’t end happily.

Yeah they’ve done that kind of crap before. While I was over there the FOTM was to send kids with Down Syndrome carrying boxes, of what they thought were gifts for the Americans, filled with explosives. The kids would show up and the insurgents would detonate the bomb.
One of my favorite stories from Afghanistan is when a village elder brought a 10 year old kid in with multiple injuries to an Aid Station. The village elder was yelling and screaming at the medics about how horrible we were to be bombing children and such. The medics treated the kid’s wounds and released him. A few weeks later the same kid and elder came back. The kid had developed cellulitis. The elder was acting differently this time; more deferential and he seemed to be angry at the kid. They questioned the elder and it turns out the the kid was with his father shooting at Americans during one of the larger firefights while I was over there. The father died in the blast and the kid recieved his injuries.
This is nothing new. They are committed to win and will use any weapon in their arsenal. We have to have the same outlook.

It’s pretty brutal, but I understand the mentality that unless you destroy those who refuse to willingly change their beliefs, you will face that enemy again.

And thanks for that story, Jason…It just seems our troops always look so welcoming to children over there, which is natural…but they also need to kep their eyes open.
What has “the cause” come to, when they use kids as unknowing bombers? It just doesn’t get any lower…

There have been instances in Iraq where children or elderly civilians are told to step in front of military vehicles, being assured the Americans will slow down to avoid hitting them. The plan is to slow the vehicle enough that it can more easily be hit with an RPG. Now, Marines are instructed to keep moving in such instances, with the inevitable result of civilian deaths. Of course, this is a win for the terrorists who point to these cases as evidence of American’s hate for Iraqis.
This is an enemy that sees no moral compunctions when it comes to Jihad. Eventually, we will have to fight with equal or greater resolve and ruthlessness, or submit to Islamists and their evil world-view.

It’s scary to realize how fundamentally different we are but we are seeing more evidence every day. Our world, our religion, our morality is at two opposite poles. My question is….. can a gentler people successfully oppose them?
