Audio: Jewish lesbian dKos diarist tells John Gibson her Ahmadinejad crush is satire

posted at 9:10 pm on September 25, 2007 by Allahpundit

Sound familiar? Surrrre it was a does. Why, it’s laff-a-palooza!

Could it be that, to the Bush Administration, one of the most dangerous things about Ahmadinejad is that he is calling the Bush Administration out? And so, if Ahmadinejad can’t be silenced, at least he can be discredited. I’m not saying he’s a good guy at all. I’m only saying it’s hard to know the full story when the Bush Administration seems so invested in smearing Ahmadinejad — and the media, as we’ve already learned with Iraq, is happy to choose its facts in convenient accordance. Maybe we shouldn’t buy into the Bush team’s characterization of Ahmadinejad as part of their drumbeat escalating toward potential war. Maybe we should listen to Ahmadinjead ourselves and sift through what, if anything, is worth hearing…

It striking when a leader with an abysmal human rights record is the one championing the rights of the poor and oppressed to the president of the United States who proclaims to be the world’s savior. Dangerous, indeed — certainly to the status quo he critiques.

The painful truth: Gibby kind of likes her. You can tell.

Of course. Whenever anything blows up in the face of nutroots, they turn around and either deny it or say “I was just kidding” and turn it around to frame us as idiots for not getting their non-joke joke.

amerpundit on September 25, 2007 at 9:12 PM

Who, exactly, is she supposed to be satirizing?

To be satire, you have to go over the top. What she said was par for the course…

Lehosh on September 25, 2007 at 9:17 PM

The days when people could say insane things like this–unchecked–are over, but they aren’t used to it yet. It used to be that nobody noticed but a small circle of syncopants, but nowadays the whole world sees it. And they mock stupidity whenever they see it, so much that even the idiots see that it was stupid. So they have to come up with some sort of excuse for their stupidity, right? But don’t worry, they’ll get better excuses as they realize that folks are going to call them on said stupidity and put it out for the whole world to laugh at.

Either way, we win–cheap entertainment for us, no?

Bob's Kid on September 25, 2007 at 9:18 PM

maybe the whole left is satire, and we aren’t getting the joke?

They learned that tactic from Coulter.

What a neurotic be-otch.

Andy in Agoura Hills on September 25, 2007 at 9:24 PM

Y’all are a bunch of RUBES for not grasping the sophisticated nature of her humor. I love heading to Kos to see all the big
f’ing words they fling out there. Half of them aren’t even used appropriately. They just like to sound oh-so-hip and intelligent. Sitting there with their friggin’ thesauruses writing Kos diaries. Douches.

RW Wacko on September 25, 2007 at 9:25 PM

They’re clearly so bad at it, shouldn’t they be forced to label their ‘satire’ as SATIRE on their pieces?

It would prevent this increasingly-common retroactive declaration of humor from being foisted on us.

And I’m not being satirical.

Just so she knows.

profitsbeard on September 25, 2007 at 9:25 PM

That’s why a lot of us are really starting to detest her.

I am getting more and more convinced the left needs a dictionary.

scooter on September 25, 2007 at 9:23 PM
Come on dude, no need to throw that in as if it will fit if you only just force it a little.

Spirit of 1776 on September 25, 2007 at 9:40 PM

Wait, so… I bust my ass for years and nobody cares, but this dummy says she wants to cuddle with a fascist and she gets on the radio the next day? I am on the wrong side.

Jim Treacher on September 25, 2007 at 9:57 PM

She’s sick,Liberals aren’t funny period,isn’t it interesting

I agree; its a huge failure of the conservative movement someone hasn’t thrown fame and fortune at me by now.

lorien1973 on September 25, 2007 at 10:04 PM

Add satire to defense, economics, religion, and a whole host of other basic concepts that the left fails to grasp.

marc@hubsandspokes on September 25, 2007 at 10:05 PM

I live in fear of the satirical polarity

Mojack420 on September 25, 2007 at 10:09 PM

Satire eh? 40% of Daily Kos would rather have Ahmadinejad as President than Bush.

SoulGlo on September 25, 2007 at 10:11 PM

This is so Liberal, here’s the Liberal defence.
I’m only kidding.
That’s not what i mean’t.
Your taking me wrong.
Your putting words in my mouth.
Your taking me out of context.
You must of heard it wrong.
It’s a joke,it’s a joke.
You didn’t hear the whole answer, you must of mis-quoted me.

canopfor on September 25, 2007 at 10:11 PM

It was a botched joke?

Well at least we’ve never heard that half-***ed excuse before.

gekkobear on September 25, 2007 at 10:27 PM

She mispronounced self-parody.

You know what I agree with her !

The Daily Kos site is just one big joke

William Amos on September 25, 2007 at 10:43 PM

John thought she answered him at the end. He was so excited to get any kind of an answer out of her, he didn’t notice that she said Ahneedajihad was probably worse than Bush.

Yeah, I’m comment #21.

I’m still wondering why Ahmadinejad wasn’t immediately arrested the instant he got off the plane???? Isn’t this the same man who is helping supply weapons to insurgents in Iraq that are being used to kill / maim American troops???

What is wrong with this world?

KMC1 on September 25, 2007 at 10:56 PM

Well the first thing wrong with this world is the whole concept that you “arrest” someone who is waging war on you. If you think monkeyboy got a lot of mileage over speaking at Columbia and at the UN you have no idea what he’d do in a public trial. What’s wrong with America is the fact that we’ve forgotten what it takes to wage war. Ahmadinejad needs to take his own life in a dark dank bunker with his favorite goat at his side.

Buzzy on September 26, 2007 at 12:45 AM

Her views would be satirical if she were making fun of people who praise Ahmadinejad for speaking truth to Bush power, but she is one of those people, as is made clear in the interview snippet. Satire is not merely “saying something poignant using humor”; it’s making fun of X by seeming to endorse X.

It striking when a leader with an abysmal human rights record is the one championing the rights of the poor and oppressed …

No, what is striking is that you think that Ahmadinejad is a champion of the poor and oppressed.

Bill Ramey on September 26, 2007 at 2:01 AM

From the interview:

If this guy [i.e. Ahmadinejad] … rhetorically is better … around talking about issues of poverty and injustice … compared to our President … what does that say about our President …?

It says nothing. Rhetoric is cheap, and tyrants such as Ahmadinejad and Castro and Chavez are experts at dishing it out for dupes who think that their rhetoric means something other than “I have power and you don’t.” Apparently our faux satirist cares more about rhetoric than reality.

Bill Ramey on September 26, 2007 at 2:23 AM

Impressive how much he had to push and push at the end to get her to agree with the simple statement, “Ahmadinejad is worse than Bush.” And how she after repeated attempts at spin would NOT say it until she was totally goaded into it.

She stuttered and sputtered like she’d be disappeared by dkos operatives if she admitted to that.

inviolet on September 26, 2007 at 6:01 AM

What is satire is their convictions at the Kos Kidz Konglomerate. Very few of them have the cajones to actually stand up and stick to them when confront in front of their keyboards.

William Teach on September 26, 2007 at 8:32 AM

And all those Kos Kidz commenters who agreed with her – were they satirizing, too?

.

Exactly! This is what I keep thinking every time I hear this “it was satire” defense. Satire is when you make an argument against a certain point of view by appearing to agree with it in a humorous/extreme/mocking way. You expose the folly of that viewpoint by taking it to the extreme.

She’s trying to defend her own views by taking them to the extreme.

It’s not that we aren’t smart enough to “get it”…there’s nothing to get. Whatever it is, since she’s clearly defending the core premise/concept of the piece, if not the actual specifics of her argument, it is definitely NOT satire by any real definition.

pjaromin on September 26, 2007 at 9:54 AM

right, well, you know what?

THIS COUNTRY NEEDS A PINOCHET RIGHT NOW. LET US STAIN THE 40 YARD LINE AT THE DALLAS COWBOYS STADIUM WITH COMMIE BLOOD.

that was just a botched joke. i swear you liberals are just so eager to misrepresent the other side, its just shameful.

She didn’t write satire. This is satire.

Yes or no. It’s that easy.

StoutRepublican on September 26, 2007 at 11:29 AM

SIJ6141 on September 26, 2007 at 2:36 PM

SIJ6141 on September 26, 2007 at 2:41 PM

These Kos airhead libby-wibby ‘progressives’ don’t appear to see what a self-parody they are…kidz trying so desperately hard to project an image of being educated, intellectually sophisticated, avant garde cosmopolitans.

Yet they constantly betray their pantomime with an endless stream of semantically incoherent & infantile babble.

“Satire”, the art of parody, is something they are shamefully poor at. Also “irony”, the juxtaposition of implications, is another term they attempt to decorate their language with. As for “context”…sheesh…that word is now commonly deployed as meaningless verbal diarrhoea padding.

Where are these kidz learning such pathetic english language skills? Oh yeah…I forgot…gubmint skoolz
