Hasn’t the word dolt been declared archaic by the dictionary people yet?

I don’t know, I’ve always just found that movies are, you know, movies. I don’t find them particularly consequential, but perhaps I’m naive…or a dolt. I suppose Al Gore’s film was consequential, for awhile, but now the backlash seems to have moved the consequence in the other direction

I think the movie Primary Colors helped solidify liberal support for Billy Jeff and the Glacier. Liberals put a lot of stock into Hollywood product. I work maintenance at a tiny junior college and I often see Hollywood movies shown in class, like history or psychology.

But pundits who can beat back the US Congress on amnesty, bring out thousands of protesters when an Ivy League college invites a tyrant to speak, and stop Al Gore from stealing a US election, now that’s some bitchin’ consequence.

Well, Rosie is one or two things with the letters “u,” “t,” and “n,” but I’m not sure “pundit” is one of them.

It’s called the Parallel Universe we live in, this is very mainstream opinions, not Right Wing or Right Leaning.

If Al Franken gets on a few more lists like this, who knows, he might be able to get a radio program to stay afloat.

2. Bill Maher – Maybe only one of two names that belong on the top ten, but waaaay too high.
3. Bill O’Reilly – The other name that belongs on here, but maybe closer to 5 than 3.
4. Al Franken – Failed talk show host, loser, only influential if count puking at the sound of his name.
5. Geraldo Rivera – What?!?
6. Rosie O’Donnell – *See Al Franken*
7. Leonard Maltin – What?!?
8. Greta Van Susteren – Maybe in the Top 20
9. Lou Dobbs – Maybe 10………..nah, maybe not. Top 20
10. Bill Walton – I guess Forbes’ forte is not sports. Ever heard of Bob Costas, Jim Rome, Rick Reilly, John Madden, Al Michaels, etc, etc, etc. I don’t know if Bill Walton makes the Top 10 pundits for sports only.

I guess Top 10′s aren’t what they used to be. This is not even a top 10 “Top 10″ as far as the quality of their selections. As much as I couldn’t care less what she has to say personally, I guess Forbes has never heard of Oprah before?

And I’m an old softy for Ben Stein. He loves his kid so much. And his money. He loves that, too. I love people who love their kids and love their money.

By the inclusion of the others, O’Reilly and Dobbs don’t belong on the list at all.

Now, on a REAL list of the top ten influential pundits, O’Reilly might make it. Dobbs would miss the cutoff by at least five.

I might have taken Maltin’s advice on a movie once. The rest; geeze, even if you took politics out of the equation, I wouldn’t give them a combined total of five minutes of attention a week.

If this is an example of Forbes accuracy, I might find myself as a member of the Forbes 400 next go around.

Hardly. His list at least understands the difference between popularity and punditry. And Ben Stein is often a bit wobbly as a”conservative”, like here:

Whatever rationale there may have been in 2001 for lowering their taxes is long gone. It’s time for them — us, because it includes me — to pay their (our) share.

Stein makes a great point in the article about the “super rich” and the military but then wants to rescind tax cuts that benefited everyone, including the middle class.

Good list. I’d also add Mark Steyn to the list – of right wing pundits.

In fairness there are Left wing “pundits” who should be on the list also. Think of all the little Goreacles out there, not to mention all the people who hang on every word that people like Alec Baldwin utter.
