This is what pacifism in the Vietnam war era and the counter culture has wrought us: intelligent, educated, blithering, pale faced pacifists.

Don't call such dithering "pacifism." Pacifists are at least principled enough to take a stand.

Here was the warning delivered at the U.N.:

AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): This is the invitation of all the divine prophets, from Adam to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ, and Mohammed, peace be upon up him. If they accept this invitation, they will be saved. And if they don't, the same calamities that befell the people of distant past will befall them, as well.

According to the Holy Koran, one who does not answer the divine call should not think that he has weakened God on earth. He has no companion but God and he is clearly engulfed by darkness. They have nothing of their own and cannot escape from the dominion of the rule of God and his will.

These half dozen brilliant minds could be engaged at the drop of a data set in a passionate, heated argument over whether Pluto is in fact a planet or just one distant body among many, but they could not take a stand that the hijackers were wrong and that it would be right to destroy the organization that supported and directed them.

I'm not sure if this is an example of liberalism run amok, or an example of brilliant people who you wonder how they get through life without being hit by a bus...

Good points about 'dinnerjacket' warning us. Doesn't their 'book' say they have to warn their victims before they attack? Could this be it? Is it possible once they have the bomb, since they can deliver it already, that they won't hesitate using it on the Israelis? Of course, hopefully, the Israelis will respond 10 or 20 fold and permanently ersae this evil from the world.

It was either exquisite damage control or a perfectly laid ambush.

In either case, it is disappointing to me that more attention is given to Bollinger's motives than his message.

The left has a HUGE moral blind spot. And until the Moderate Democrats loudly and publicly denegrate and deride the leftist extremists currently at the helm of their particular political ship, the maddness will continue.

But folks are starting to cock a critical eye in the direction of their mighty captains.

The damage they've already caused will take years to repair, but those repairs will happen eventually.

Another liberal/Clinton result?

El Guapo on September 26, 2007 at 2:12 AM

Dunno about the clintoon connection, but definitely a result of lefty dhimmitude.

You mentioned the number of programs about islam on PBS; the challenge with that is the fact that the vast majority of those programs are deceptive multi-culti pro-islam propaganda rather than accurate and truely balanced information with which someone could actually make an informed decision.

Sad but true.

doesn’t alter the fact that the invitation itself was a mistake and that the entire spectacle diminished Columbia even while it also diminished the tyrant, somewhat.

Oh please. Why was it a mistake to get Ahmadinejad to come to a place he thought he'd be safe in only to have his ass handed to him on a silver platter? I'm tired of "We shouldn't legitimize him" crap. We "legitimize" liberals who murder unborn children by the millions and geopardize everybody's safety with what amounts to pure treason through their constant cuddling with our worst enemies all the time. IMO, there's no way this incident can result in anything other than good. If even one liberal looks at these events and thinks "What the hell is wrong with my fellow progressives?" then it's all worth it. So allow me to be the first right winger to say it, and say it proud: I

"Today, after his brutal and unexpected denunciation of Ahmadinejad as a cruel and ridiculous tyrant, the Columbia president has suddenly gone from a leftie pariah to a rolled-gold American hero."

Surely that should be "after his brutal and unexpected denunciation of Ahmadinejad COMMA a cruel and ridiculous tyrant COMMA the Columbia president etc".

Fox News coverage of specials on other channels (like PBS) that are canceled because the PC police think it is insitivie to Islam (instead of the truth), etc.

Ever notice how fast the Democrat-Page scandals disappeared? Why else would you get a hotel room with only one bed for you and your Page? You certainly aren’t on a budget crunch.

El Guapo on September 26, 2007 at 1:29 AM

Agreed. There will never be a better time for the gop to clean up its act and toss the majority of our problems out of office.

As for the dems and their precious pages; gotta hand that to the ever-present double standards to which each party is held (or not,as the case may be).

Enjoyed the conversation. Responsibility calls me to bed. Enjoy the rest of your evening, all you fine folks.

Enjoyed the conversation. Responsibility calls me to bed. Enjoy the rest of your evening, all you fine folks.

And speaking of Murdock, I’m more concerned with the percentage of FNC currently owned by Arab interests.

I know of that too! But i am not sure they actually control the content. I still see specials about radical islam, bill o'reilly slamming saudi arabia for funding radical islam, Fox News coverage of specials on other channels (like PBS) that are canceled because the PC police think it is insitivie to Islam (instead of the truth), etc.

I’m not talking about attacks coming from the right on the left. I’m talking blue on blue here. Until that fight happens and some kind of sanity prevails, the Conservative voice will only be heard by those already listening.

I think there should be another conservative revolution as well. Pork spending, corruption, homosexual-adultry, etc, is not what I want in my party. If you're gay, fine, just don't cheat on your wife/family, because then I will wonder "who else will you betray for your personal pleasure?"

Ever notice how fast the Democrat-Page scandals disappeared? Why else would you get a hotel room with only one bed for you and your Page? You certainly aren't on a budget crunch.

And speaking of Murdock, I'm more concerned with the percentage of FNC currently owned by Arab interests. And that goes for NASDAQ and other strategic institutions here in the good ol' US of A.

But lately (almost a year now) I'm rebelling against the lot of them. About the only thing we use our dish for is commercial-free music these days. And Mythbusters. Thank God hockey season starts next week.

Open seaon may never happen if the “fairness doctrine” is re-introduced and passed. libs can’t understand capitolism and why their shows fail especially on radio. Advertisers go where the audience is. You may be able to force a network to have a show, but you can’t force people to listen to it or watch it.

Once the facade cracks, all kinds of teachable moments are possible.

As to the fairness doctrine, that one could bite the left right squarely in the ass. It would mean that legally opposing viewpoints have to be presented together. The leftists think they're the ones being under-represented, a totally laughable misassumption.

The fairness doctrine's a lousy idea, and completely counter to free market principles, and I sincerely hope it is not foisted upon us. Freedom of choice is the way to go.

I agree. The money is where the ads are. And the advertisers go where the viewers/listeners are. Too bad he wont buy out NYT and turn them around.

What is this is hear about Murdock actually donating to Dem candidates?

I guess he isn't a rightwing neocon-Jew New World Order advocate afterall.

Would you consider Murdock’s purchase of WSJ a sign of this turn-around?

El Guapo on September 26, 2007 at 12:59 AM

Interesting question.

I think Murdock's in it for the money and he sees progressive media declining and conservative media growing and profitable. It's a good business decision. I don't know if his owning it will mean that editorial tone will change. I don't know enough to speak intelligently about that.

To be honest, I'm not seeing a whole lot of the turn-around manifesting just yet. At this point we're still nearing the breakover point. The upcoming political season's fight for the public's attention is where I think we'll start to see the knives come out against those previously treated with reverence. Especially the dem primary battles.
