Video: Ahmadinejad at Columbia; Update: Columbia speech “OK with me” says Bush

posted at 1:38 pm on September 24, 2007 by Allahpundit

It’s supposed to be streaming at CBS NY, WNBC, and ABC 7 but I can’t get any to play at the moment. Anyone have any feeds they know are working?

Update: The NBC feed is working. I’m able to record it, for some reason, but not actually see it play. Let me know what’s happening in the comments.

Update: It looks like the cable nets may be carrying this too, at least for awhile. MSNBC already has the feed and Fox appears to cut to it.

Update: In fairness, if Bush had come out against the speech, the left would be demagoging him as opposed to free inquiry, etc etc. But still:

“This is a place of high learning and if the president (of Columbia) thinks it’s a good idea to have the leader from Iran come and talk to the students as an educational experience, I guess it’s OK with me,” Bush told FOX News in an interview. “The problem is Ahmadinejad uses these platforms to advance his agenda, which I suspect in this case … He doesn’t want America to know his true intentions.”

C-SPAN and C-SPAN 3 are saying they will switch to his “Q&A” when it starts.

FNC homepage.

TheEJS on September 24, 2007 at 1:40 PM

AP I can get the ABC7 to work if rendered in IE, but not in Firefox (in case you are using f/f).

Spirit of 1776 on September 24, 2007 at 1:40 PM

I have the CBS7 feed…….just audience waiting right now.

You can download the stream of foxnews.com with Real player. The video isn’t through the normal media player but directly on the page.

Mojack420 on September 24, 2007 at 1:46 PM

“remain seated” “show restraint”

too bad this courtesy was not extended to the Minute Men

BobH on September 24, 2007 at 1:48 PM

Love it, he cautions the audience to act civil and not interupt the guest. You mean like you did Gilchrist from the Minuteman Project?

LakeRuins on September 24, 2007 at 1:48 PM

I can’t wait for the stinging rebuttals.

*ahem*

Fox News has got it.

President got a warm reception, didn’t he?

Slublog on September 24, 2007 at 1:48 PM

abc7 feed is working for me

introducing the terrorist now… makes me sick that the students are applauding him

offroadaz on September 24, 2007 at 1:48 PM

Loud applause and hollering for dinnerjacket

LakeRuins on September 24, 2007 at 1:49 PM

I am listening on CSPAN 3 on XM radio channel 132 for those so equipped

LakeRuins on September 24, 2007 at 1:49 PM

Oh Gawd! if the Secret Service wasn’t requiring everyone stay seated the audience would give this clown a standing ovation. Does Bill Maher know his audience is missing?

We do not honor the dishonorable

Hm

yo on September 24, 2007 at 1:50 PM

Free speech dose not mean giving aid and comfort to the enemies.

Mojack420 on September 24, 2007 at 1:51 PM

Lee Bollinger is one flexible guy – he’s doing a fantastic job kissing his own butt.

Slublog on September 24, 2007 at 1:51 PM

Know thine enemies. I hope you do, Mr. Bollinger.

Connie on September 24, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Lee Bollinger is one flexible guy – he’s doing a fantastic job kissing his own butt.

It’s not that tough considering he already has his head up there.

trubble on September 24, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Arrrgh! Something’s wrong with my tv, no sound, and I can’t get any of the feeds to come up on the computer. Damn it, damn ahmedinejad!

4shoes on September 24, 2007 at 1:52 PM

On c-span1

Dersu on September 24, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Gotta’ say, Bollinger is making a decent argument – and doesn’t seem to be pulling punches on the Hitler midget.

As long as they don’t let him get away with that crap from the Press thingie, earlier.

yo on September 24, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Bollinger is addressing the quid pro quo issue that Michelle raised on her site.

LakeRuins on September 24, 2007 at 1:53 PM

I can’t even believe they’re letting this overgrown cockroach speak, let alone the applause…

Mojack420 on September 24, 2007 at 1:54 PM

Ahmadinnerjacket’s plan is working quite well, apparently.

Lawrence on September 24, 2007 at 1:54 PM

Gotta’ say, Bollinger is making a decent argument – and doesn’t seem to be pulling punches on the Hitler midget.

Have to agree. So far, so good.

Connie on September 24, 2007 at 1:55 PM

He’s hitting Ahmendidimendthsjhad pretty hard on violation of human rights…

Ordinary1 on September 24, 2007 at 1:55 PM

“Pety and cruel dictator” Nice!

Ordinary1 on September 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

Ooh, Bollinger just called Dinngerjacket a dictator to a large applause.

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

I want to see someone ask him if he participated in the planning and/or execution of the taking of American hostages in 1979…

rbb on September 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

Well he is kickin Iran’s butt, but needs to tie it to the idiot in charge.

WOW, I take it back. He just did!

Dersu on September 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

Iran leads the world in the execution of minors

Eesh.

Bollinger seems to seriously dislike the lil’ guy.

You exhibit all th signs of a petty and cruel dictator

So far, I thin kthis may be fun

yo on September 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

Hitting the midget pretty hard. Not bad.

Slublog on September 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

not what I expected, Bollinger is asking good questions so far

offroadaz on September 24, 2007 at 1:57 PM

Hmm, not bad-

Bollinger to Achmed:

“Mr. President you exhibit all the signs of a petty dictator”

trubble on September 24, 2007 at 1:57 PM

He said that Mahmoud is inflaming the West to distract the cruel crackdown in his regime on journalists and speech.

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 1:57 PM

is this a question or a speech ?????

Mojack420 on September 24, 2007 at 1:57 PM

Is it me, or is Bollinger suppressing how pissed off he is?

yo on September 24, 2007 at 1:57 PM

ahhhhh, It’s all about Bollinger getting noticed

BobH on September 24, 2007 at 1:57 PM

Ordinary1 on September 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

I hope he doesn’t notice the 50,000 volt taser disguised as a microphone.

subbottomfeeder on September 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

“You are either provocative or extremely uneducated”.

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

This speech of course raises the question: if the guy is so bad, why bother letting him on your campus, Mr. President?

Slublog on September 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

DANG, he is killing him.
Where is the bucket of stones hidden?

Dersu on September 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

He wants him to allow a delegation of professors and students to speak at universities in Iran.

wow…he (Ahmadinejad) is astonishingly uneducated …yeah!

Connie on September 24, 2007 at 1:58 PM

So when exactly is he going to allow Ahmedie to answer?

Numenorean on September 24, 2007 at 1:59 PM

He’s calling Mahmoud out on his calls for the destruction of Israel.

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 1:59 PM

This farce burns me as much as the immigration issue. How can people be so brain dead esp after 9/11? (That question is rhetorical, btw.)

How come the anti-Semite Jimmy Carter isn’t there to support his buddy the other anti-Semite scum bucket?

C-SPAN is not on delay

Connie on September 24, 2007 at 1:55 PM

Not good enough for me. These introductory remarks will never be heard in Iran. The Tiny Terrorist and his ilk will cherry pick exactly what they want seen.

This is just repugnant. Bollinger should go back to modeling for Dutch Boy Paints.

IrishEi on September 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM

Wow, surprised dinnerjacket has not got up to leave.

FireFly on September 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM

“Do you plan on wiping us off the map, too?” “Funding terror groups. It’s been well-documented that Iran is a state-sponsor of terror…”

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM

Bolls actually made a good point about understanding evil.

I disagree. I do not believe one has to host evil in order to understand it.

Wow…Bollinger is hammering Dinerjacket……. :O

doriangrey on September 24, 2007 at 2:02 PM

“The proxy war against the United States troops in Iraq.” “a sophistication of attacks that would no doubt be impossible without Iranian support”. “Can you tell them and us, why Iran is fighting a proxy war against us, arming Shiite militia”.

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 2:02 PM

Wow. I may have to rethink my previous position on this event. Columbia’s President is coming on a lot stronger than I thought he would.

I was thinking that, but then again madhi is so dense he’ll cherrypick.

Funny how Bollinger talks about the military alumni but ROTC isn’t on campus.

Bollinger is making great points, but a better point would have been made by not letting Ahmedidenijhadi appear in the first place.

Ordinary1 on September 24, 2007 at 2:03 PM

Lee Bollinger for President.

faraway on September 24, 2007 at 2:03 PM

doubt that you have the intellectual courage to answer …

yo on September 24, 2007 at 2:03 PM

So far this looks more like a setup, Bollinger asking tougher questions than the media ever would.

mesablue on September 24, 2007 at 2:03 PM

“Frankly, I doubt you have the intellectual courage, Mr. President, to answer any of these questions.”

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 2:03 PM

Can we get Bush to say such things to his face?

I can’t watch it at work! :-( From reading all your posts, it sounds like Bollinger is just laying out all the points and then Ahmadamnjihad is going to reply all at once. Is that right?

Frankly I doubt you will have the intellectual honesty to answer these questions……Ouch!!!!!!!!!!

JustTruth101 on September 24, 2007 at 2:04 PM

“May this do that and more” talking about Mahmoud’s speech forcing his party to lose elections and power.

Niiiiiiiice.

amerpundit on September 24, 2007 at 2:04 PM
