Now airing on C-SPAN2: Ahmadinejad addresses the National Press Club

posted at 12:28 pm on September 24, 2007 by Allahpundit

Sorry for being a few minutes late with this; it’s already in progress. You can catch it over the web if you’re not at home by clicking here. And to follow up on my earlier bleg, it looks like the Columbia speech at 1:30 will be carried on the website of CBS’s NY affiliate. I’ll post a reminder of that in the next hour.

MM and Bryan are stationed outside the campus and may — may — work up a livestream for us but you’ll have to make do with photos for now. And if you’re already Mahdi’d out and want a palate cleanser, here you go. It haunts my dreams.

“Liiies… Liiies…” You’re getting verrry sleepy… Resistance is futile…

Does he know a woman is translating for him?

Numenorean on September 24, 2007 at 12:31 PM

I don’t know if anyone listened to Drudge’s radio show last night, but he had fun with that laugh last night. Man, oh man, hilariousness.

WillBarrett on September 24, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Get Fred! down there, and let him give this guy what for…

JetBoy on September 24, 2007 at 12:37 PM

I think the ‘woman’ is a transsexual.

It sure seems there are enough bozos in the West to surrender to these islam kooks. And with that our civilization. Is it time to ‘lock-n-load’ and head for the hills?

mustang1 on September 24, 2007 at 12:38 PM

I fully expect to see the N.O.W. and G.L.A.A.D. there to protest this oppressor of women and gays.

Tony737 on September 24, 2007 at 12:38 PM

Ha, he is ducking the Amnesty International question about newspapers and blogs being shut down.

Vincenzo on September 24, 2007 at 12:39 PM

The expression on his face looks like he’s lying through his teeth and laughing at us for giving him these forums.

Where is president Bush on this crap?! This is absolutely shameful.

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 12:40 PM

thanks i really needed a good laugh , just to get past all this pandering and fawning over this pig F^&%$r aquavelvajad.

“Yes, we limit and filter the Internet.”

“The Iranian people are the most free in the world.”

Politicians are the same the world over.

Yes, please let me know who these reporters are so that I might kill them personally.

Dude is one of the biggest liars on the face of the earth…

doriangrey on September 24, 2007 at 12:45 PM

Are these new spectacles of his intended to make him look scholarly and harmless?

Lawrence on September 24, 2007 at 12:46 PM

He laughs at the mention of the torture of women in Iran. Then he says….

The freest women in the world are the women of Iran.

Yeah, they’re free to accept the yoke of oppression or they will be tortured.

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 12:46 PM

I think that American women would beg to differ on that.

Speaking as an American woman, of course.

Love the way Mahmoud keeps accusing the questioners of lying.

This is why he shouldn’t be allowed to speak at Columbia. He doesn’t ever answer a question straight.

Meryl Yourish on September 24, 2007 at 12:46 PM

The freest women in the world are in Iran.

Ice water now all over my computer.

Those specs man, … hot.

yo on September 24, 2007 at 12:49 PM

The Columbia “dialog” will be more of the same and I wonder if the left will admit he is a liar and get behind the policy of this country.

I can’t believe I wrote that with a straight face. Of course they wont admit it. Anybody have any ideas how the left will spin this to their advantage?

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 12:49 PM

He didn’t deny the weapons charge.

Vincenzo on September 24, 2007 at 12:50 PM

“That information is distorted.”

Ok, we get it…

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 12:49 PM

My guess is they have already started it….

“see, WE aren’t so bad and evil that we actually TALK to people, not just bomb them like that Bushitler who stole the election and lied to us…”

What a load of hokey-malarkey

JamesLee on September 24, 2007 at 12:51 PM

Nice laugh. Now all she needs is a pointy black hat, black robe and a broom.

But hey, she’s just getting in season, folks.

Nethicus on September 24, 2007 at 12:51 PM

OMG, they just skippped over his non-answer.

Vincenzo on September 24, 2007 at 12:52 PM

Lie, deny and redirect the question.

KCtheKat on September 24, 2007 at 12:52 PM

This clown is laughing at our stupidity.

How in goodness name does the left think that any diplomacy will work with this terrorist? The only way he will ever budge on ANYTHING is if we give away the farm first.

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 12:54 PM

KCtheKat, I am totally stealing that line for an hour from now. Check SNN next week; I suspect we’re going to have my appearance on BBC Have Your Say World.

And thanks, KC.

Meryl Yourish on September 24, 2007 at 12:54 PM

I’m beginning to wonder about my own sanity in paying one iota of attention to this exercise in futility. Not like the NPC is ever going to get any real answers from him. And I’m a little confused on why he is bothering to lower himself to speak to the press when “they disseminate so many lies.”

Numenorean on September 24, 2007 at 12:54 PM

War. U.S. and France don’t speak for the world, but the U.S. bombs will speak volumes for themselves.

Legal reason for going to war. Iran sponsors terror. Iran is killing U.S. troops. That’s enough right there.

Interntional community = friend of Iran

Ordinary1 on September 24, 2007 at 12:54 PM

Can Iran and Israel live in peace?

If Israel will allow it.

I bet that’s his answer.

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 12:56 PM

We do not recognize that regime because they discriminate and are racist.

Thanks for the laugh — I needed that.

Hollocost? What’s that?

Ordinary1 on September 24, 2007 at 12:57 PM

The freest women in the world are in Iran.

True… in a “It puts on the lotion on its skin, or it get the hose again,” kind of way…

elgeneralisimo on September 24, 2007 at 12:58 PM

Depends on your definition of “free”. Just like “innocent” and “civilian”.

“Lie, deny and redirect the question.” – KC

Are we talkin’ about the Klintons or Ahmajihadist here? Well, it doesn’t really matter, they both do the same thing. Yet another thing on the list of things the left has in common with our enemies.

Tony737 on September 24, 2007 at 12:59 PM

It’s amazing how similar his rhetoric, misdirection and general nuttiness is to radicals and Indymidiots I’ve debated at protests here.

The world can’t let people like this have power.

Hannibal Smith on September 24, 2007 at 12:59 PM

Is that tool behind the podium at the Press Club ever going to ask a follow up question? Ahmadinejad is standing there lying through his teeth and getting away with it.

Please, find a questioner who has a pair.

Expect more of this crap at Columbia.

fogw on September 24, 2007 at 1:00 PM

Lets not talk about the hostage taking. It’s the US’s fault because of the coup in 1957.

Press Club guy likes getting stroked by Ahmie.

What a total embarrassment. Blow him a kiss when you’re done, you spineless excuse for a journalist.

Neville. Chamberlain.

Have at it, folks. This was a DISGUSTING display and I plan on telling them so.

World B. Free on September 24, 2007 at 1:14 PM

AP, you’re brilliant again – the mix of Hilllaughgasm with Ahmadinejob is fantastic.

No words to the Ahmijob spectacle, except that if Mr. Bush 43 whould still have rock-stones he’d use the U.N. forum to rip the U.N. and all the nuts who are free to express their Dreck here, while at home we all know what happens/doesn’t happen, while also our elites are blindly in love with them. Yes, true ‘progressives’, indeed.

On the Hillarygasm of yesterday, even Brit Hume was fooled. Chris Wallace was totally snowed and didn’t follow up on the “do you disavow yourself of the “Betray Us”. He just let her get away, after softly trying twice…he nearly crawled up her beautiful whatever…She just blabbered on, saying nothing at all, bla, bla, bla, bla.

Obvious question should have been “Do you think you are President already?”

Entelechy on September 24, 2007 at 1:17 PM

You mean AhmaGenocide, right?

abinitioadinfinitum on September 24, 2007 at 1:09 PM

That’s a new one. It fits.

CP on September 24, 2007 at 1:21 PM

Entelechy,

So true.

Hill dodged the question, not once, but twice, and gave the exact same slight-of-hand answer both times.

She’s sprinting to the winners circle, unchallenged.

I have a question. Since Ahmadinejad is in NY and he is an illegal Alien does that mean that Elliot Spitzer can give him a US drivers liecence ?

William Amos on September 24, 2007 at 1:25 PM

I can’t believe I wrote that with a straight face. Of course they wont admit it. Anybody have any ideas how the left will spin this to their advantage?

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 12:49 PM

The invitation WAS the spin. The only reason Columbia is having him is because of their advanced BDS disease. They know the right hates him, so it is their obligation to treat him well.

Connie on September 24, 2007 at 1:33 PM

Entelechy on September 24, 2007 at 1:17 PM

She didn’t have to do that on “Meet The Press”. Russert basically gave her a tongue bath.

What was interesting was she said the exact same thing to both of them. Lie, deflect, and change the subject. She didn’t answer one single question directly.

Brit ans Chris made me sick to my stomach the way they slobbered all over her for being “prepared” for this. I would hope that after avoiding tough forums for three years that she’d be prepared. It’s no big deal Brit.

I don’t know how it works, but I have heard that candidates insist certain questions not be asked or followed up on as a condition to appear. Are they really that desperate that they’d let her (anyone) lie? Don’t we trust the media to ask the questions we cannot?

csdeven on September 24, 2007 at 1:36 PM

Regards to you too, my dear fogw – if only you knew how dear you and yours are to me. I’m thankful every day!

The “winners circle” will only be the primary. I happen to believe the Bush 43 prediction, that she’ll win the primary and lose the general. The American people don’t like anything regal (tea party wasn’t in vain). She acts too much as ‘deserving of the presidency’. Her self-righteous stridency will byte her in that big fanny of hers. She’s not Bill Clinton, and don’t forget that. True nature always displays itself, and won’t be an exception with her.

Do not dispair, yet. Respectfully,

All that will come of of this debacle is armamadjihad will give the left talking points for years to come. First one;
1) “There is no need for war, we can logically talk this through.”
.
Can’t you just hear Pelosi and Shillary quoting the same already? ‘We can TALK this thru, so what if Iran has ( not they are getting, but past tense, HAS) Nukes they just want to talk.
.
Armadinijad= Armageddon be had.

Connie on September 24, 2007 at 1:44 PM

Interesting – I just switched to C-SPAN (channel 2 on COX in the Phoenix area), which is supposed to show Ahmadinejad’s speech at Columbia. However, the channel is all messed up – bad audio and video, almost like it is scrambled.

Do I smell a conspiracy here?

csdeven, thanks for the “Meet the Press” account. I didn’t see that one, as I only watch the Sunday reruns while cooking, ironing…I gave up on them years ago, as they are all the same and are boring.

I agree with you on the Fox assessment. All ‘in love’ ’cause it’s good for the ratings. Don’t ever forget that about Fox or any of the stations.

From a psychological standpoint that ‘laugh’ was hysterical.

While I think all the outrage is warranted, I also think that if the press and American citizens just ignored Ahmadinejad’s antics while he’s in the U.S., his impact would make him feel less significant. Of course he wants to stir the waters…he’s out for fame.
