What’s with the dang muppets? First you guys post a picture of Bert next to Bin Laden’s. Now Kermit appears alongside Ahmadinejad. If there’s an in-joke here, I don’t get it.

I can’t answer for the Kermit pic in this post, but the Bert/Bin Laden photo is a relic of what in my opinion was the world’s funniest website, dedicated to photoshopping Bert into pictures to prove that Bert Is Evil.

Bert made it into the background of some classic photos, making ‘appearances’ with Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, and of course, Bin Laden. The Hindenburg? Bert did it. Easter Island totems…Bert. Bert crop circles. The ‘face’ on Mars? Bert.

All this was innocent fun for a small, in-the-know group that frequented the site. But what was really funny was that some moron jihadist Googled some pics of Bin Laden to print out on some placards for a real demonstration, and he used the one with Bert ’shopped in. Unfortunately for Johnny Jihadist, someone at Reuters snapped a pic of his placard. That’s why the Bert/Bin Laden pic makes so many appearances now.

The original site was taken down after some guilty feelings by the owner, but mirror sites persisted, at least for a while. Google ‘Bert is Evil’ if you want to look for one.

Yes, I agree. He is much more interested in killing American troops; and using their deaths as a political ploy. So in that respect, he does “care” more, but in a “wish they’d die faster” sort of way.

Not the kind of “care” I’d like to have focused at me.

That comparison only narrowly beats watching the disgusting Eloi meekly letting themselves be herded to the slaughter in H.G. Wells’ “The Time Machine.”

I don’t care if the self-loathing among us have a “crush” on those who would only too gladly assist them in their self-destruction; or to recall part of the lyrics from an old Three Dog Night tune (dating myself, I know):

The only quibble I have with the suicidal left is that they want to take everybody else along with them.

That was my immediate impression, but I see a couple of others beat me to it. Sure he executes dissidents, but he has a steady job and is good with the kids, so what the heck. And the way he handles his nukes is really hot.

Anyone who admits to being someone who would be persecuted under another government, yet still lauds it over this government, should be immediately deported to that country, with all American citizenship revoked.

If you can’t understand it with the inside perspective, I feel a lot better about my ongoing total bewilderment about it.

Actually, I hope they keep it up. Republicans just might need a miracle in 2008, and Daily Kos just might provide it.
