Flip flips the lid off Hsugate?
posted at 12:39 pm on September 21, 2007 by Allahpundit
Not quite yet but it’s looser than it was yesterday. He starts with a simple question: why is Norman Hsu, the bundler di tutti bundlers, listed as the bundlee on a donation he made in June of this year? Hsu’s supposed to be out there rounding up new contributors for the Democrats; he’s the last guy who’d need to be solicited for a donation by some other fundraiser. From that slender thread comes a pattern linking his contributions to those of Fred Hochberg, CEO of the Lillian Vernon catalog company, fellow “HillRaiser” and trustee of the New School, and former cabinet member in the Clinton administration. Hsu didn’t make his first political donation until 2003 but Hochberg’s been donating to Democratic campaigns for years — and, funny thing, Hsu seems to favor (and disfavor, in the case of Chuck Schumer) the very same candidates Fred Hochberg does. Is Hochberg simply advising him on which Democrats are “good eggs” and which are bad or is there something more to the apparent collusion here that might explain, at least in part, how Hsu came by all that filthy lucre that went into the Democrats’ coffers? That’s the part of the lid that hasn’t come off yet. But like Flip says, this much would seem to be true:
There are still a lot of details yet to emerge that will undoubtedly shed additional light on these linakges, but it seems quite clear that Norman Hsu and Fred Hochberg are and have for some time been closely associated. It’s abundantly clear that the Clintons and Hochberg are quite intimately associated. This seems to draw Hsu and Clinton uncomfortably close to one another.
And while the complexity and duplicity that saturates this whole affair may offer Hillary a bit of confusion cover that she can use to equivocate when pressed, it’s now becoming increasingly far-fetched that Hillary took Norman Hsu for no more than a kindly, deep-pocketed fan.
Expect to see the Hochberg story in the news next week sometime, most likely in the Journal. That’s how far out in front of it Flip is. Click.

Ken Lay has be reincarnated as Norman Hsu…..another reason for public financing.

Public financing? Sure…that’ll work.
No chance of corruption there.

If Billy and the Beast could be knocked out of the race I may actually regain a flicker of hope for our Republic.

I think flip is a little off here because alot of fundraising is events. Such as if you check below you wil find Hsu at these various events
http://www.arcinvestmentpartners.com/enews/121405_bb/121405.html
http://www.lmcc.net/art/programs/2007.1spitzer/index.html
http://www.speaktruth.org/benefit06/benefit.html
http://www.andrewcuomo.com/newsroom_details.asp?id=865
If said people are also at the same events and gave at the same time then that explains the similarities
But these are by invitation only events. Hsu had to have some kind of contact to make it into the big leagues. Is possible that someone got him in there
Just think its the cart before the horse type of argument

Flip should get a Pulitzer, or the blog equivalent.
JammieWearingFool on September 21, 2007 at 1:13 PM
I still want to know why Hsu was risking getting his cover blown by leaning on donors and such.
What was he getting out of all this? Access to big donors didn’t really seem to be an issue for him anymore.
Was he just dumb? He seems more careful than that.

What an entertaining rabbit hole this is. Thanks to Flip for doing the heavy lifting.

Ah yes, Fred and Norman, fellow trustees at the New School.
Here is an early explanation of how this came to pass:
WND speculated that the friend could have been Bernard “Loral” Schwartz, but maybe it was Hochberg.
In any case I have thought all along that Kerrey was lying here:
Puhlease. Bob Kerrey, a fashionista?
Clearly, FOBs and FOHs wanted him on the board, not to benefit the New School, but to benefit Hillary and other Democrats.
That gave him that certain “cachet”.

Was he being blackmailed? Bring in those donations or we’ll spill the beans that you are a crook?

To me the damning thing politically isnt who was giving to who but rather was some campaign giving Hsu political cover and legitimacy ?
If you go back to michelle’s post a few days ago about Hsu interacting with members of Hillary’s staff and also remember that when doubts were raised back in June and Hillary’s west coast director stood up for Hsu saying “he’s one hundred percent legit”
That is more distirbing to me.

BTW will add there is some kind of connection between one of Obama’s staffers and Hsu also. He use to work with hillary and had contacts with Hsu but then moved on to Obama. Will try and find the reference I saw

Yeah, but that brings them down too…and Hsu would know it, so it doesn’t seem like a credible threat.

Wow, Flip. Impressive!
Fantasizing now: Schumer under oath. He knows what’s going on, and precisely why. There’s a grudge to be avenged, Senator!
RushBaby on September 21, 2007 at 1:55 PM
Hochberg is gay (has or had an HIV-positive partner). Schumer is against same-sex marriage.
Connie on September 21, 2007 at 2:01 PM
You know, it used to be the average politician just had to worry about the skeletons in their closet… now they also have to worry about the number of Hsu’s in their closet too

Isn’t Hillary too? Or at least she says she is for civil unions but against homosexual marraige? I could be wrong but that was my impression.

No, you’re not wrong. She’s pretty good at giving people impressions. heh.
Connie on September 21, 2007 at 2:34 PM
I commented on Flip’s site, but Schumer campaign didn’t get Hsu money, but Schumer got plenty – PLENTY of Hsu money for the Dem Senatorial Committee – something like 30 or 40 grand (maybe more)

One thing just jumped out at me as I read this article and viewed the Lillian Vernon catalog.
Looks like most of the crap LV sales came from China.
Seems to me to be a good way to launder Chinese money through a legitimate US company.

I haven’t seen this yet anywhere else but I can’t imagine I’m the first one to have thought of this:
Should Flip rename himself (herself) Hsuitably Flip?

It should be noted that Hsu did donate also to Obama and then Hsu put their campaign in touch with Mark Gorenber a venture capitalist who is now an Obama bundler and prior was a John Kerry bundler

He was at the time of his original Ponzi scheme about the gloves, he divorced shortly after that.

Sam E. Antar, the CFO behind the infamous Crazy Eddie Fraud and now the author of the blog White Collar Fraud, explained how fraudsters construct images to coax investors into trusting them:
Fraudsters like myself, we build a whole world of respectability around ourselves. I gave money to a lot of charities while I was committing my fraud. My cousin Eddie, he gave a lot of money with his stolen money to a lot of charities. He gave a lot of money to politicians. He built wings on to hospitals and built a big aura of respectability around him and people were in awe of him. This is what fraudsters do

It is a fallacy that Democrats support gay marriage, so that doesn’t make sense, unless Hochberg is just ignorant and buys the myth that Dems are for it.
And as far as Hillary saying she’s not a lesbian, don’t forget this is the Clinton’s we’re talking about. There’s a big loophole with “bisexual”. Of course this has nothing to do with Norman Hsu!

I really can’t even picture Hillary having a sex life at all.
If Hsu had anything to do with Hochberg, then there can be legitimate questions asked about exactly who Hsu was trying to please and why. Could be the guy just liked feeling important or it could be more than that. Everyone said Hsu didn’t ask for anything in return for what he was doing, but what if he was getting some non-material payment. That’s why I asked if he was married.

Flip = XY
flip on September 21, 2007 at 10:28 PM
Connie,
Yeah, it occurred to me that Hsu is Hochberg’s lover. Maybe he pressured him to get all these donors to give money to Democrats so they could get married and live happily ever after.
As for Hillary’s sex life, this why I support don’t ask don’t tell especially if she partied with Janet Reno and Donna Shalala.

So you could be SUitably Flip.

I believe (hope?) that eventually the wheels are going to come off and the Clinton candidacy is going to un-glue, I hope it doesn’t happen until after she gets the nomination. That Hillary is radically corrupt shouldn’t suprise anyone, altho that can be said about almost every politician.
If it does happen, and it happens after she gets the nomination, the Presidency, the Senate, and House would probably wind up Republican controlled.
Currently the democrats are heading the country to a disaster.

No. Hochberg has a steady partner. Forget his name.
Right now, I’m looking at Elliff, Hsu’s attorney. Donor to Kerry.
