I agree that MKH is growing into this role very nicely. Confident, comfortable and complete. I'm looking forward to the era of Malkin, Ingraham, Coulter and Ham. I really am.

I am sure the father of the freemale in the PUFF DADDY Ad is either turning over in his grave or walking around with a coin changer on his belt and called PIMP DADDY.

The spot of blowing stuff up was great. It has been a male right of passage just as writing your name in fresh concrete.

The real thrill is creating a concussion (pressure wave) that is strong enough to almost knock you down from 100 yards.

In the military, (DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME) me and my EOD friends would have lunch hour training sessions contesting who could blow up a vehicle (clean-no fuel or other ancillary devices) the highest with the least amount of (classified) various explosive materials. It was really an art based on physics and geometry (so kids to be good, stay in school and get a good eduction).

"Unforgivable Woman" ?

I don't get it. Why would any woman find that appealing? Is it a trashy black culture thing? What's next? "Beaten Ho" ?

RE: landlines etc

I'm a luddite. No cell phone, just one landline...dialup internet. But I am in the middle of nowhere, so I don't have much choice ;-)

<blockquote>It’s not a question of cost at this point, it’s a question of whether I want to get rid of my landline and rely entirely on the iPhone. I can’t afford two lines when I barely use one as is. I need to look into the pros and cons of a cell-phone-only existence.

Allahpundit on September 19, 2007 at 10:53 PM</blockquote>

I live a cell phone only existence.

Though it's a little worse for me, because my husband and I only have the one cell phone between the two of us.

There's no real need to have a second one, since whenever we're separate, we're usually with someone who has a cell phone, but he's weird about borrowing one, so we'll probably get a second one.

I honestly see no need whatsoever for a landline.

So, that's my anecdote.

<blockquote>BOR just doesn’t get the “Internet”</blockquote>

I loved it when Homer Simpson asked, "The Internet? Is that thing still around?"

Well, it's funny when he says it.

You can call 911 with a cell phone. It's just that Enhanced 911, the system that shows your address when you call, doesn't work with a cell.

Unforgivable = Bored silly, apparently.

MKH is adorable. Her self-confidence seems to have gone up about a million percent since she started that show, and it really works for her.

<blockquote>Allahver Twist?</blockquote>

Your daughter's right, georgej. All these channels and not a thing on! If it weren't for a few shows I'd cancel the cable completely.

By the way,why would any intelligent woman wear a perfume called "<em>Unforgivable Woman</em>"?! Impossible to excuse, pardon, or justify is the definition. Who came up with one?
Or I wonder, is this about JLo? Still holding a grudge, Diddy?

1. I saw the video and it wasn't "soft porn" at all. In fact, there have been steamier love scenes on Battlestar Galactica.

2. AP, if you transfer your land line to your cell phone, you will continue to get telemarketers, even if your phone is on the do-not-call list. They will call with "surveys" (permitted) or they pretend to be a charitable entity (also permitted).

And, don't be surprised if you are sent unsolicited (i.e., junk) faxes on what is nominally a "land line." If you got them before on a voice line you shared with your fax machine, you'll get them on your cell phone.

And guess what, YOU GET TO PAY FOR THE CALLS and the airtime!

So if you go wireless, use a cell phone company supplied phone number. The Telemarketers are prohibited from calling them under any circumstances. No charities, no surveys, either.

Oh, one more thing. I suggest you turn off the built in GPS unit by setting it to "emergency 911 activation only" mode. Not that it won't prevent the gub'ment from remotely turning the on-board GPS unit back on if they want to find you. But, hey. What a little paranoia among friends.

3. On the subject of television, I spoke to my daughter today. Her comment was 500 channels, 500 channels of crap. Duplication of programming, high numbers of repeats, old, retreaded, rerun programs off of broadcast TV, "superstation" channels from other cities (as if I care what's on Atlanta or Denver's "superstation"), and so on is the staple of fare today. There are some exceptions, of course, but the gems are trampled into the mud of the pig-pen.

So, of course TV, even cable TV is dying. HDTV helped because the output is perfect for viewing on a computer screen, but the culprit is high speed Internet service, IMHO, that can distribute the content for the viewing convenience of the users, not the broadcast TV station or cable company. The movie and record industries are trying to fight it (and failing) with their "nuisance" suits. The TV broadcast networks already see the writing on the wall (down load their shows while the cable companies are giving you download on demand), print magazines and newspapers are suffering a collapse of circulation because people can find out truth without having the have the editor and publisher of the NY Times as a "gatekeeper".

The "business" people running these industries (the so-called moguls), in their never ending quest to squeeze out every last dollar of profit from entertainment even if the quality of their product is crap (lowest common denominator, copy-cat crap for the most part), have pushed pure entertainment so far down the slippery slope of irrelevance, that their audience is leaving in droves -- for the Internet.

Honestly, I was watching one show last night, and the commercial break was *4* minutes long. I put the channel I was watching in PIP, and surfed until I found another show. Four minutes later, I reluctantly switched back. Six minutes into the show, another commercial break and this time I didn't bother with the PIP, I just switched away. When the show I surfed to went to a long commercial break, the TV went off and I got online instead.

Michelle, you, AP, and Bryan plus the men at Powerline, and macranger, LGF, and so on, are part of a new paradigm of communication, for both entertainment and information. "Web 2.0" was only an approximation. "Web 3.0" will blow our socks off when it finally arrives.

Who had the brilliant idea to bring up the jon bonnet site? It had to have had nearly no followers until tonight. I wonder, if giving the whakkos free publicity does more harm than good.

"blow'd up good, blow'd up real good". I see your point Hollowpoint.

Also, it seems like the purpose of this segment is for Bill to have an attractive young woman tell him the filthy details of dirty dirty web sites. He then dutifully reminds his audience to avoid crossing into danger themselves.

MKH is cute, smart and funny, but my estimation of her dropped just a tiny bit in that segment. She needs to understand that males have a hard-wired, instinctual need to blow stuff up. Mentos and Coke is just foreplay.

re: ditching your land line

I wouldn't recommend it. Just yesterday our cell phone service went down for a few hours in our ENTIRE COUNTY, long distance was non existent and local calling was off-and-on. Thankfully, email and internet was still functional, and the news regarding the outage that I found cited a "severed fiber optic cable" and warned that if anyone needed 911 service, to DRIVE TO the nearest PD/FD.

I implore you---don't eliminate ANY communication options.

agreed, sorry I've been so testy over the last couple days. I need to start thinking about ad revenue for my site so I don't have to work as hard making sales.

This is a great site, and I think it's helping my site. That's one of the main reasons I'm here, but I feel guilty for it. . . like I'm stealing or somethin.

No need to apologize I was just having some fun with my sarcastic post.

I doubt HA will answer your question with details, Because the really don't need to.

For example, MM COULD sell her books direct from this site. I wouldn't consider that 'ad revenue'. That's what Spencer does with his site. Of course I don't see anything but sponsor links, so it must be just ad revenue.

revenue could come from SALES of stuff that they link to from this site - I wouldn't count that as ad revenue. Like all the revenue from my site is from SALES. . . zero from my site comes from ad revenue.

Sorry I didn't make myself more clear.

<blockquote>And does ALL the revenue from this site come from the ads on it?</blockquote>
<a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2007/06/28/wall-street-journal-morons-wonder-whos-behind-hot-airs-attack-ads/" rel="nofollow">
No they have secret backers so it is unclear who pays for the videos HA produces.</a>

<blockquote>I need to look into the pros and cons of a cell-phone-only existence.

Allahpundit on September 19, 2007 at 10:53 PM
</blockquote>

I didn't have a cell phone until 2003. Made the switch cold turkey. I've used it to call 911 several times when either seeing a car accident or driving by one on the highway, and I can imagine it coming in handy in other emergencies too. It works as my alarm clock, datebook, has the phone numbers of every single person I know, and <em>I haven't had a single call from a telemarketer in 4 years.</em>

For a guy who works from home though, I might base my decision more on cost, but otherwise the benefits seem pretty obvious.

Pappa ditty pop.

Yeah AP, someone as robot-centric as you shouldn't have a problem with the cell phone only concept. Cell phone only is the way to go.

As for the traffic surge. . . what is the cause of it? Would you say it is primarily from the Rush plug? any other reason? I think my site got some supplemental bump from your traffic as well - is that wrong?

And does ALL the revenue from this site come from the ads on it?
