OK, so where is the section that describes the one teen attacking 6 others, who then stomped him after he was unconscious in self-defense? Cuz I missed that.

The background to this story is horrendous…a “white” (i.e. Whites Only” hang out area) tree in a school yard; “uppity” black kids being threatened (nooses hanging from the tree, for God’s sake!)and attacked by white kids acting with total impunity, and when (to all appearances) the black kids acted in self defence (or, at worst, in kind) the local D.A. (white) comes down on them with attempted murder charges.

Let’s see, these kids jumped an unarmed guy 6-on-1, beat him unconcious, and continued to kick him while he was out until a passer-by intevened. All of this occured 3 months after the noose incident. Please explain to me how in the world that is self defence.

…actually i have been informed that all three boys were expelled from school for a year…

This simply is not true. The principal recomended the noose hangers be expelled but the school superintendent reinstated them after a brief suspension.

I’m all for law and justice, and I do believe the noose hangers got off way too light, but there’s no way I’m rallying behind the actions of the 6. I hate to say it but most people who are supporting them are being played.

I think we need DNA testing of candidates. It is obvious it is not the color of your skin that defines race, it is the color of your DNA! Once we get the percentages nailed down we can figure out who to love and who to hate.

We could sort out the wannabees and fakers using the wrong dialects, who should be eating chicken and who should be eating white bread. We can settle if Jackson had the right to use that Hymietown remark or was he just a self-loather?

Thanks for that, it saved me some typing. The whole thing is completely blown out of proportion. I could care less about the color, the fact is six teenagers jumped and beat the crap out of one teenager (allegedly).

I have read that the teen assaulted had been mouthing off, not physically provoking them. Even so, six on one?

What if I just don’t trust Obama, whatever else I think of him?

No trust, and the rest of his “achievements” are meaningless.

In fact, the more “accomplished” he is, the more of a threat his basic untrustworthiness becomes.

The reason there was an all white jury is that no blacks reported for jury duty that day. The DA isnt the brightest lawyer in LaSalle Parish, but I do believe he would have never let an all white jury be seated unless that was his only option. I also understand that Bell was offered a plea deal that would have meant time served and that would be it. However I am told the NAACP convinced his mother to talk him out of it.

Most people in Jena are connected in one way or another, just like any small town in America. The best thing that could have happened is a change of venue. Not sure if there was a motion filed.

I do agree the boys were over charged, but geesh, crime is crime. The nooses do not justify the beating. It is like the 4 guys who raped the girl in Dallas and said it was for 400 years of oppression. Again, crime is crime!

There are alot of good people in Jena. They opened their doors and hearts to the folks who were displaced by Katrina.

One thing you can bet on, the folks that want all of us dead (black white green yellow purple pink blue and all others in this country), are simply enjoying this. We have better get our heads out of the ground and come together, not to sing or have drum circles, but to defend our very way of life.

While it may make one feel a little bit wormy to be on the same side of an argument as the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton, it seems perfectly clear, based on news reports, that they have a strong argument here. I hear this line quite a bit, these days, but there is ample polling data to let anyone know where the black community stands on a variety of issues. And then, there are all the elections, which speak very loudly and very clearly.

The fact is that blacks are as monolithic a voting bloc as has ever existed in the US. It is just a fact.

The best thing the Republicans can do is to stop being wimps on racial issues.

He kind is a race baiting, poverty pimp who perpetuates the black victim mentality. Let’s hope Obama never becomes one of his kind. When I was in High School during the 70’s, getting A’s in school, I was tagged as “acting white.” I never thought that 30 years later my children would be faced with the same stupidity. All the radio and TV stations that are marketed toward black youth follow this same mind set. MTV and BET have long ago been banned from my home.

They despise the JJ and AS of the black community but fear the wrath of the outspoken just as the moral majority did in the 60’s and therefore are silent.

We speak very loud and very often. That our thoughts and opinions on contemporary issues rarely if ever make it to the public forum or the news on any network is the frustrating part. Not to mention the constant assumption by white folks, especially liberals, that we are all of the same mind set. The best thing the Republicans can do is to stop being wimps on racial issues. Explain in no uncertain terms that the present conditions that exist in predominately Black neighborhoods are the direct result of Democratic policies. Grab onto it a never let go. Yeah, right!!

I think being on Jesse’s bad side would be a boost for a presidential candidate, but I’m white, so what the heck do I know??

And if we’ve learned anything from Jackson, it’s that the color of your skin does (and should) determine your political views and who you support. So he certainly can’t possibly expect my support.

I’ve known a number of people who believe they know all they need to about a stranger based on simply knowing their skin-color; I didn’t realize they were as smart as Rev. Jackson… or vice-versa.

Jesse Jackson is just jealous that Obama is getting more attention than him and has gotten farther with his presidential aspirations that Jackson ever did or ever will.

He can’t stand the fact that Obama is getting glowing coverage whereas he has to “pay” for his by alerting the media to his various marches and protests (because they wouldn’t know about him otherwise).

That could be part of it but I think what is really driving this racial arsonist is the fact that the 2nd most threatening thing to his “profession” is a successful black Democrat politician. That is 2nd in line, of course, to a successful black Republican. If too much of that happens he’d be out of a job!

The obvious exit question is “Why didn’t Jesse Jackson take Hillary Clinton to task for “trying to act black” with her Aunt Jemimah impersonations…
