Audio: Hillary’s truncatin’ her gerunds ‘gin, y’all

Pretty tame compared to her fiddle-dee-dee routine the last time she pulled this. The clip comes from her speech to the Service Employees International Union in D.C. on Monday, which makes it an odd place for her to unleash the Blanche DuBois within. The Times thinks she reserves her accent for black audiences but that’s impossible to say without knowing what the demographic breakdown among the SEIU crowd was. I think their class rather than their race is probably the determining factor; when the Smartest Woman in the World is among the common folk, it’s only natural-like that she’d jaw at ‘em in their own brutish tongue. Then again, I was in City Hall Park last year when she addressed a crowd of illegals during one of the gran marchas and her gerunds then were as proper as you’d expect from a Wellesley gal by way of Yale Law. So maybe it isn’t just a class thing after all.

Anyway, that’s not why you should listen to the clip. Listen to it because, against all odds, it’s quite a stemwinder. I never thought I’d see the Glacier heat up during a speech but she’s got a good head of steam going there and is working the crowd impressively. (Not that it did her much good.) If that’s the Hillary we’re looking at in the general, it could be even tougher than we thought.

Nope – not even the first time. Life’s too short to spend it listening to HRC winding stems. I’m just going to have to – ahem – gonna haveta trust ya on that one.

“Those troops were comin’ home anyway,” she said, adding for Bush “to take credit for that is like him takin’ credit for the sun rising in the mornin’.”

Wonder what page in the liberal playbook addresses Spinnin’ Credit.

If that’s the Hillary we’re looking at in the general, it could be even tougher than we thought.

Style issues may be the least of her problems – unless she can find a surgeon to do something to her vocal cords, that banshee voice is goin’ to start gratin’ on Normal American voters as they start to pay attention to the campaign.

I have always depended on the kindness of bloated labor unions.

As a well-educated Midwesterner, I am offended that Dame Hillary thinks she can appeal to me through use of substandard English.

Well, I hope she’s not danglin’ her participles, because that would be gross.

Shrillary’s probably just trying to give Silky Pony some competition for Most Transparent Phony in the race. I think his lead is insurmountable, though.

ReubenJCogburn on September 19, 2007 at 9:36 PM

Kiss her grits.

Nice reference to Flo from the sitcom Alice circa 1976. You’re showing your age AP. Only us broken down old men remember that sitcom.

Ha! good one!

Black Hillary returns.

I swear that I get this insatiable urge whenever I’m near a black liberal to ask him what he thinks of Hillary Clinton’s fancy black voice, just to see how they respond.

I mean, it would be infuriating to me to have such a racist little commie insult me like that.

heh.

Nice one Allahpundit.

Theworldisnotenough on September 19, 2007 at 9:52 PM

Did anyone find out if she called anyone “ese” at the “Latino Debate”?

I’d like to put her in front of a crowd of black Africans, or hell, Brits… just to see her talk street to ‘em… only to look like an even bigger idiot for doing it.

RightWinged on September 19, 2007 at 9:56 PM

Is she trying to talk black or talk Iowa?

The comments are too funny. I only made it as far as something about having to fight the special interests when I reached the point of Hillary overload.

The American people will never elect Hillary Clinton president.

Labamigo on September 19, 2007 at 10:12 PM

A ruse by any other name is a ruse.

Walter Williams:

I’m wondering if Mrs. Clinton visits an Indian reservation she might cozy up to them saying,

“How! Me not tired. Me come heap long way. Road mighty rough. Sky Spirit no bring me this far.”

Or, seeking the Asian vote she might say,

“I no wray tired. Come too far I started flum. Road berry clooked. Number one Dragon King take me far.”

…if it buys her votes from those in attendance, not much flattering can be said about them.

DANEgerus on September 19, 2007 at 10:30 PM

What do you expect, after all,Hillarys husband
was the first black president, labeled such,
by the Liberal Media!

canopfor on September 19, 2007 at 10:52 PM

I hope people are really listening to what she, silky and Ubama are saying about UHC. I hope the GOP message counters with the failure of the EU system and better yet, what the Great White North hosed up system is. Sure the system could be better, but it ain’t broken.

But what the hey, if employers will accept fake SS#, why not fake health insurance. That way, we might someday have amnesty just for being citizens in our own country.

Another New Bad Deal

It’s probably the ace radio producer in me, but I’m curious about how these things transpire from a logistical perspective.

Do you think there’s a staffer who is charged with taking a look at the audience and determining which version of The Glacier will be making an appearance, or is she so politically astute that she measures the…. ehem… ethnic diversity of the crowd for herself when she gets up to the podium?

keithrconrad on September 19, 2007 at 11:09 PM

Hillary is a phony, anyone who votes for her is truly stupid.

Gatordoug on September 19, 2007 at 11:23 PM

Allahpundit (can’t you just hear him breathing audibly, ala geraldo?)

Lol. Um, uh, tougher than WHO thought? This is just more of the same, with a raspy voice. Why does AP continue to present himself as a conservative? Your skirt is showing boy…

JWS on September 19, 2007 at 11:23 PM

She couldn’t even keep a straight face when she mentioned Greenspan, who snores next to a much younger liberal. She doesn’t believe her own rhetoric. Clintonesque!

Entelechy on September 19, 2007 at 11:27 PM

For those of YOU who needed a reminder/refresher course. heh.
.
I. The gerund is a verbal noun, just as the participle is a verbal adjective. That is, just as the participle is a verbal form that functions as an adjective, the gerund is a verbal form that functions as a noun. You must be careful, however, because in English both the gerund and the present participle end in -ing. You will have no problem, however, if you ask yourself whether the verbal form is adjectival or substantival. Noun or Adjective?
.
Got it?

keithrconrad on September 19, 2007 at 11:09 PM

I vote this option. No being in the universe is more hyperaware of the race of a person in front of him than a liberal Democrat living in the United States.

Yeah…I think I’ll let you be the hero here AP, and take the bullet for me. I’ll take your word for it. Besides, didn’t she get all wound up once before about her being called un-American or not a patriot after she whined about something President Bush did?

El Cazador on September 20, 2007 at 12:01 AM

Shillary will never out twang Fred!. She wouldn’t dare try……

Mallard T. Drake on September 20, 2007 at 1:12 AM

Oddly enough, the twang was not flowing when she phoned into the Al Sharpton show. Maybe it was delayed twang. Or maybe it’s just for in-person pandering.

LOL

She probably wishes she could, but worries about pulling it off. Maybe she could get some tapes to listen to and practice.

BacaDog on September 20, 2007 at 7:58 AM

Sorry, I can’t listen to her. The sound of her screeching simply grates on my ears. The only person whose voice is more annoying is Holly Hunter’s.

dbdiva on September 20, 2007 at 8:13 AM

Talking to the unions, where over 100 union bosses have been indicted this year alone.

And congress is considering or have already cut the budget to prosecute any more of these thugs.

Next she will probably end up with a couple of prison tats to speak to her supporters.
