Have you ever seen a corked bat? The cork is only out in the last few inches of the barrel, not in the contact zone. How does the cork in the end of the bat make the ball come off the contact zone with more speed?

Corking a bat has nothing to do with speed of the swing. It makes the bat more “lively,” that is the ball bounces off of it with more speed.

I’ve seen all sorts of “impossible” things happen. This is actually not that amazing, though it is unlikely that we’ll see it happen again soon. Sort of like a hole-in-one in golf. Note likely to happen, but does happen more than you’d think.

Remember that there is dirt involved here. Anyone seen someone balance an egg on its end by pouring a tiny bit of salt on the table to help stabilize it? Same type of thing here I’m guessing. Maybe even a little divot in the dirt from someone’s cleat.

We got too many truthers out there. It’s like everything’s considered fake until proven otherwise by teams of experts from all known fields of study. Actually this post is a fake and everything your physics teacher said about the physics of rotating bodies is part of an elaborate scheme to get Bushitler elected.

Nonsense. Try balancing anything non-symmetrical with a high center of gravity. Then try balancing something symmetrical that does not have a flat bottom. You will spend an eternity. If that bat had a convex bottom, it is impossible to stand it up, and that doesn’t address the issue of instantly stopping all that inertia at the theoretical balancing point.

The only way to explain this would be if the bat had a flat bottom, and the bat was weighted at the end. Still a million to one but at least possible. Put 5 cubic inches of depleted uranium at the tip of that bat, and this becomes ever more plausible.

I’m 50/50 on whether this might be fake. Seems really odd how it stops.

The way it landed does look strange. But, strange things do happen. When I was in the Army I flicked a cigarette to the ground (yeah, I know I should have field stripped it, but I was busy), and it bounced up and flipped a few times and then landed standing straight up on top of a rock protrudisng from the dirt.

Come to think of it, I wonder if they did check the bat. I would if I was the Blue.

Hmmm… that’s kind of convincing actually… someone was recording their TV with a camera. Still can’t fully buy it though. The way the bat stops just doesn’t make any sense.

The other reason I know it’s fake? It’s a physical impossibility. A bat can not stand up.
