Hot Air TV: Rep. Jack Murtha confronted about Haditha accusations Updated

posted at 2:40 pm on September 18, 2007 by Bryan
Share on Facebook | regular view

We’ve just obtained video of Rep. Jack Murtha being directly confronted over repeatedly accusing the Haditha Marines of murdering Iraqis “in cold blood.” I’m editing and processing it now, so we should have it online before too long. Stand by.

Update: Here it is. The man confronting Murtha is Jason Mattera, of the Young America’s Foundation. You may remember Jason for his eloquent statement regarding CAIR’s attempt to silence Robert Spencer.

Update (AP): No member of the mainstream press was willing to put the question directly to Murtha at his National Press Club press conference so a blast from the blogosphere’s past had to do it for them. Via Gateway Pundit, Jeff Gannon endears himself to the left anew:

JEFF GANNON: In May 2006, you said that Marines killed innocent Iraqis citizens in cold blood at Hatitha. A year later, some of them have been exonerated. At some point are you going to apologize to these men?

REP. MURTHA: The trial’s not over yet.

JEFF GANNON: You’ve spoken out before. You went on national television and called these men “cold blooded killers.”

REP. MURTHA: The trial’s not over yet.

The Hill adds the irresistible detail that his face was “reddening” as he said it. Gannon did succeed in getting Murtha to make an uncomfortable admission on another subject but he deserves some traffic for this, so follow the link to find out what.

Comment of the day:

It looked to me as though Mr. Murtha, under heavy questioning, redeployed to the elevator.

Blaise on September 18, 2007 at 4:23 PM

Update (AP): Don’t look now but the charges against another Marine just got dropped.

Murtha should be sued for his defamation of those soldiers.

What an ignorant schmuck. How in the name of reason could such an obvious meathead get elected? Are Ohio people just that stupid? What in the world inhabits his vile district?

Good point, I’d like to see an ambush interview where Murtha gets confronted on his less than kosher feasting at the publicly funded trough.

Bad Candy on September 18, 2007 at 2:48 PM

Yeah, he’s an empty shell (or is that shill?), but I seem to recall some liberal known for doing the same thing… bum-rushing politicians for answers to a question that paint the politician in an unflatering light… and that liberal being ridiculed on this site.

Is there any difference here, really?

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 2:49 PM

…wow. Just wow.

Beyond the utter contempt that he not only was not aware of the status of the trial, and beyond the utter contempt of not saying a word, but retreating like a coward…

The most damningly contemptuous thing that prick in a suit could do was bring up his military service as if that was some sort of justification for his unvarnished smearing of innocent troops for his own political furtherment. Absolute and utter betrayal of his brothers in arms, and frankly, of this country. Cowardly worthless slimebag.

Heh. Well, now, Murtha. Let’s see–the charges are being dropped. Thus, for those two marines, the trial is over. Capiche?

Come to think of it, they elected that knothead Dennis Kusinich too. Too much rust in the water I guess.

You know, there was once a time when I gave “professional respect” to Mr. Abscam, being a Veteran and all that.

Then I actually saw him on “Meet the (de)Press(ed) one fine Sunday and realized something: This dude is an idiot, and has no clue what he’s saying!

PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASEPLEASE do NOT let him wiggle out of this!

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 2:49 PM

Yes. The MSM won’t ask Murtha anything about Haditha now that the case is falling apart. I tried calling him and got hung up on. He ought to answer for his actions, and this is apparently the only way to get him to.

Bryan on September 18, 2007 at 2:51 PM

Excellent.. Excellent.. Excellent !! Jason Mattera and Young America’s Foundation ..you are awsome… great work !!

Maxx on September 18, 2007 at 2:51 PM

By the way, my commendation and admiration of Jason for showing that he is a sharp and fearless individual. I’d suggest he get into either a journalist position or political office, since he would excel at both. Sadly, I think his true potential would be wasted in such positions of wasteful loathe.

Bryan on September 18, 2007 at 2:51 PM

Right, no argument about the lack of MSM innitiative. My argument is the liberal fella was attacked on many a site because he was attempting to confront a politician on a topic that the MSM wasn’t questioning him on. This seems like apples-to-apples to me, any disagreement?

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 2:55 PM

You know the really infuriating part of this whole thing ?

Mustha is still clinging to hope that some marine will be found guilty proving that he was right that US marines were murderers

He doesnt even WANT to be wrong

William Amos on September 18, 2007 at 2:55 PM

Awesome! My uncle lives in the same condo building in Arlington, VA as Murtha. Apparently he isn’t very popular with his neighbors. I wish I could have bumped into the tubby jack@ss and told him what’s what.

jeffshow on September 18, 2007 at 2:57 PM

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 2:55 PM

Any details on what you’re talking about? If you’re talking about Mike Stark showing up at Rove’s house just to harass him, well, that’s very different from showing up on public property to ask legitimate questions. And, Stark has a history of violence that we don’t and won’t have.

Bryan on September 18, 2007 at 2:57 PM

BTW Murtha was Subpoenaed today in the Duke Cunningham trial

Murtha says he will ignore the Subpoenaed

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070918/lawmakers_subpoenaed.html?.v=1

William Amos on September 18, 2007 at 2:57 PM

Murtha reminded me of the chick in the Alien’s movie trying to get away from the “Alien” by pushing the elevator button. Haaa.. but unlike the movie Murtha didn’t get away.. Jason Mattera ate Murtha’s lunch.

Maxx on September 18, 2007 at 2:58 PM

Oh, man. That look that Jason gives the camera at the end is hilarious…

Jaibones on September 18, 2007 at 2:59 PM

Bryan on September 18, 2007 at 2:57 PM

That’s him, Stark! No, not the Rove incident, something earlier this year with Romney… or Rudy maybe… had to do with a domestic dispute? You had the video here, and it was in a public place. Also, at least in that video, I don’t recall Stark being violent, just aggressive in wanting his question answered.

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 3:00 PM

Like on Iraq, Murtha retreats…

Absolute moral authority, anyone?

Glad to see him called to task for betraying his own uniform, and the premise of innocent until proven guilty (which holds for the UCMJ just like the civilian justice system.)

In fairness, it might actually cost more to train Murtha on how to use an elevator.

Maxx on September 18, 2007 at 3:13 PM

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I love the smirk on Jason’s face right at the end.

Murtha was contemplating that huge helping of humble pie that Jason placed before him, decided he couldn’t stomach it, and then pulled out the absolute moral authority card. Which Jason promptly trumped with the facts.

EAT $HIT MURTHA!!!!

csdeven on September 18, 2007 at 3:14 PM

Twist you dirty old f**ker!

“Don’t taze me, Jason!”

That put a grin on my face, thanks for posting it! I love how he tried to go chicken hawk on the dude, and the elevator attendant was just letting the conversation play out. Some one should interview the elevator attendant and ask him what Murtha’s reaction was once the doors were closed.

Yes very interesting that Murtha wants a pass on answering questions because he is an ex Marine yet wants other Marines held to high standards and put on trial and they dont get any special treatment

One set of rules for liberals and another set for someone else. Just like Murtha saying today that he wont appear at that other trial because he is a congressman and he doesnt have to answer questions

William Amos on September 18, 2007 at 3:18 PM

There is the saying that “once a Marine, always a Marine.” If that is true, then Murtha never was a Marine. He sure as hell is not one now!

Thanks Jason and the Young America’s Foundation.

How can half a nation support cowards like this and even want to turn this nation’s national security to the party of cowards? Hillary slamming Petraeous demonstrates what kind of commander-in-chief she would be. The list goes on and on.

I’m stunned.

stenwin77 on September 18, 2007 at 3:26 PM

Murtha (in near whisper): “Is the trial over yet?”

This piece of sh!t is till holding out hope that these soldiers will be found guilty. What a disgusting traitor! And then he pulls out the Kerry trump card – I served in Korea, I served in Vietnam.

Well pal, now you’re serving the best interests of our enemies. That negates, entirely, any respect you may have had for prior service you gave to your country. Get it?

And … I saw that look on Murtha’s face somewhere else before. It was on “To Catch a Predator”.

fogw on September 18, 2007 at 3:26 PM

Bryan on September 18, 2007 at 3:10 PM

Right, I’m not going to defend Stark’s rep. My point was, here we have two independent citizens asking a politician a direct question about something they either said or did that would be viewed as “questionable” (or worse). One citizen represents a conservative confronting a liberal, the other citizen vice versa. If all either did was, in the limited instances presented (Stark and his confrontation with George Allen and Jason confronting Murtha), be aggressive in asking the questions, why does one citizen get the thumbs up and the other a ridicule?

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 3:29 PM

the Murtha Monster isn’t interested in facts, he only wants to portray the military in a fashion that meets his agenda

jediwebdude on September 18, 2007 at 3:34 PM

“Have you ever enlisted? I did in Korea.” I quote Happy Gilmore, “Well whoopdie doo!” Whether the man was ever in service or not does not take away from the validity of his question. I was in the Corps, will Jack-aaaddle minded Murtha answer the question if I asked it? No, so asking Jason if he ever served is nothing but a cynical attempt to avoid the question casting a light of “delegitamacy” on the questioner.

srhoades on September 18, 2007 at 3:39 PM

Man o man. I love new media.

I wish bloggers could get on tv, so more people could see things like this. Or a conservative blogger could get a tv show (hint, hint Michelle).

Zach on September 18, 2007 at 3:42 PM

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 3:29 PM

One diff I see in the two scenarios is the domestic dispute is more of a private matter whereas outright issuing a guilty judgment no troops killing civilians prior to the investigation completing, then using that for political gain is far more sinister.

jediwebdude on September 18, 2007 at 3:46 PM

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 3:29 PM

Another difference is that Stark used physical violence to get close to a U.S. Senator instead of approaching him politely. The comparison you’re attempting to make is ridiculous.

Hootie on September 18, 2007 at 3:29 PM

Stark was making a threat of himself. He pushed people. He pushed his way into a room, he actually looked threatening toward the candidate by pushing people out of the way. And in spite of that… Stark did ask his question in a screaming voice. And he continued to make a disruption and was tossed out, just like this guy at the Kerry speech.

Jason Mattera didn’t disrupt a speech or try to hold an audience captive or push anybody at all or to appear as any kind of threat….. that’s the difference.

Murtha needs to be pressed continuously until he answers questions instead of cowering like a sissy in the corner of an elevator.

Let’s get Senator Robert Dole out of moth balls to ask him. How about John McCain, where are his balls?

Murtha can not stand up to a Jason Mattera how can we trust him to protect the Nation and The Constitution?

Wade on September 18, 2007 at 4:02 PM

No, Ohio isn’t responsible for Murtha.

We are responsible for Voinovich, Kusinich, and John Glenn. Now we have a new Democrat Gov. Strickland, who is often named as a possible running mate for the Hildebeast, and a new Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown. They are both young enough to mess up things for years to come.

REP. MURTHA: The trial’s not over yet.

Hey you bloated ex-Marine, the trial is in fact over for those that were exonerated! You could at least apologize to them even if you wanted to throw in weasel words like “it appears” to help excuse the fact that you are a fifth columnist intent on destroying the military by any means possible. I might agree with you if the MSM media would do their job and not be so biased. Where are they? Someone needs to ask these questions of people who are quick to run down the troops and this country.

Until then, this ’some guy with a camera’ is doing the job the lefties won’t do. I have absolutely no problem with that.
