The oldest, kookiest, furthest left candidate on the left vs. the oldest, kookiest, furthest left candidate on the right? Where do I sign up?

Oh, right here, actually.

Wait. Those are two different people?

Gravel exposed government secrets to the press and is a traitor. Paul is just a kook.

the oldest, kookiest, furthest left candidate on the right

isn’t RP actually the furthest right? He’d be your typical isolationist libertarian.

lorien1973 on September 15, 2007 at 9:16 PM

I’d have to go with Ron Paul on this one: too little government is better than Stalinism.

Free Constitution on September 15, 2007 at 9:17 PM

As much as it pains me, and believe me it does, I’d have to vote RP on this one. Only because he’s the only “Republican”/”Libertarian”, while the other borders Socialist loon.

amerpundit on September 15, 2007 at 9:20 PM

Yeah, a couple of Truthers…who (big suprise) are for Ron Paul…that I discuss with actually are pulling for a Paul/Gravel ticket.

The kookieness gets even kookier…and whodah thunk it was possible!

JetBoy on September 15, 2007 at 9:22 PM

I’d call it in an insult to say gravel supports the constitution:

http://www.issues2000.org/Mike_Gravel.htm

supportsMore federal funding for health coverage
opposes Absolute right to gun ownership
opposes Support & expand free trade
opposes Expand the armed forces
opposes Allow churches to provide welfare services
more capital gains on rich.
US citizens should be allowed to vote for or against laws. (this is a republic, not a democracy)
Minimum wage as president OK, but we need living wage.
Illegal immigrants come here for jobs; don’t deport them.
Congress is Constitutionally more powerful than President. (all 3 branches are equal)
Repeal the Electoral College; enact federal term limits.
Start with public financing of campaigns.

Insulting Gravel and constitution in the same sentence. That people think gravel is based on that shows just how naive they are.

a Paul/Gravel ticket

JetBoy on September 15, 2007 at 9:22 PM

I had a nightmare like that once. Woke up in a cold sweat.

amerpundit on September 15, 2007 at 9:26 PM

Seeing how lively this thread is, thought I’d pass this along to you, Allah. Some hacker broke into the GOP website of Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, and installed a virus-spreading software. It’s safe now, but computers may have been compromised.

amerpundit on September 15, 2007 at 9:37 PM

Gravel: Look at the ROCK!!!! Ripples man…. ripples. Think about it
Paul: If we didn’t throw that ROCK, there would be no ripples. The constitution says we shouldn’t make ripples.
Gravel: What constitution? My contitution is 26 with a +3 ability spec when I wear my glasses of might! Where am I?
Paul: Do you know what the IRS charges to account for your glasses of might?!? We educate these kids and send them to Saudi Arabia so of course 9/11 was an understandable response.
Gravel: Where am I?
Paul: Expansionist, Imperialist narcissism is the cause of our problems… WHAT??? Oh yeah, I’m still talking?
Gravel: Who are you people and what are you doing in my living room?!?!

VolMagic on September 15, 2007 at 9:50 PM

isn’t RP actually the furthest right?

he’s really an anarchist, so where ever that goes on the right/left dichotomy.

other than that, the obvious foreign policy idiocy could place him in agreement with the left.

he has a pro-choice voting record, rated 75% by NARAL last year I beleive……lots of other similar votes.

he’s more left than you realize, but as far as I’m concerned hes an anarchist and a nutjob.

You need to look up anarchy then you need to look up libertarianism.

libertarians like Paul are really anarchist, operationally speaking(i.e. in real world) if they got their way given the current state of the world. Paul would give us complete chaos, if he did what he says he wants to do.

jp on September 15, 2007 at 11:11 PM

Extreme left, meets extreme right…. which is to say “come around at full circle”, or make a full circle.

And thus… the world is now perfect….

Mcguyver on September 15, 2007 at 11:24 PM

I see myself as libertarian conservative. I see Ron Paul as an embarrassment.

petefrt on September 15, 2007 at 11:44 PM

That would be such an awesome 3rd party (Hillary look at your votes getting sucked away) ticket

P.S. Where do I send donations?

MirCat on September 16, 2007 at 2:31 AM

Gavel and Paul, proves that anyone can run for President.

right2bright on September 16, 2007 at 7:57 AM

Here is Ron Paul’s buddy ALex Jones in one very hate filled spew that is closer to Hitler than anyone on the right has ever been

Did you know that we conservatives plan to hunt down and murder truthers ?

Paul and Gravel in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate–now THAT would be entertainment! Ha ha ha! They could replay it on Comedy Central for years to come.
