Video: Dems’ silence on MoveOn ad is an “outrage,” says Koch

posted at 6:15 pm on September 14, 2007 by Allahpundit

The last post on this subject today, hopefully. Savor the irony of another former mayor of New York with no love lost for Rudy helping to make this a political disaster for Giuliani’s likely opponent if he wins the nomination. Koch is, or was, to the right of even Joe Lieberman when it comes to the war, so this isn’t exactly out of, er, left field — and it isn’t exactly selfless in its motivations, either. Pay attention to what he says about MoveOn and his obvious contempt for the organization; he, Liebs, KP and other centrist Democrats sense an opening here to pull the leadership towards the right by making their association with MoveOn uncomfortable. It won’t work in isolation but as more of these incidents pile up and are noted, Pelosi and Reid will get nervous.

Here’s Koch’s op-ed about this from yesterday’s New York Post. And here’s the Red State parody that you’ve already seen because everyone else has already linked it. Exit question: How come Silky always needs his wife to say the “tough” things he should be saying?

The Republicans have done everything possible to implode and give the next election to the Democrats. Clinton has such a big lead all she has to do is stay fairly centrist and prepare for the general, and instead she goes and gives the nutroots a little anti-war porn during the Generals testimony. She had to know it was going to be used against her, so why do it?

I hope you’re right…I am beginning to fear it’s the only hope we have for sanity to return to political discourse.

From the Politico link:

Elizabeth Edwards makes hers the first campaign to directly criticize MoveOn.org’s “General Betray Us” ad

On that note, I think I have had all the hilarity I can take for this afternoon.

ps. Thanks, Mayor Koch. *Salutes*

Koch at least is a liberal like I used to be and that are becoming extinct (hence my name)

Abortion, Gay Rights, Taxes, Environment etc fine we can have different opinions but in the fight against an enemy that wants to kill us all, we stand with those who take the fight to them.

people might not like Koch’s policies on social and domestic issues but at least he understands the conflict. Can’t ask for much more from a democrat nowadays.

Exit Answer: two words — silky shorts. (h/t bbz123)

PS bbz, I believe that hyphenated Nancy-boy is technically one word. Heh.

How’s he doin’?

Pretty good, from my viewpoint.

Exit question: How come Silky always needs his wife (‘s skirt to hide behind) to say the “tough” things he should be saying?

Because he’s a phony, and a sissy.

Love you Mr. Koch!!!

an opening here to pull the leadership towards the right

Reid and Pelosi respond to power more than they hold it. Rather than pulling hacks to the right, better to crush the MoveOn left and help decent Dems regain control of their party.

How come Silky always needs his wife to say the “tough” things he should be saying?

Penis envy.

lorien1973 on September 14, 2007 at 6:45 PM

I wanna see Rudy grab MoveOn by the short hairs and drive them (and Hillary and the NYT) kicking and screaming into retreat.

MoveOn is vulnerable, and Rudy’s just the man for the job.

ed koch on tv. excellent!

I don’t think y’all would allow me to use the down-home Carolina language to adequately answer that question. Maybe I will drive up to his home in Chapel Hell, and yell it across his acres and acres of land that separates him from the peons.

Seriously, dumpster diving at the DU, I have run into several threads calling for Elizabeth to run for President. Even they can see what a (censored) wimp he is.

Koch always called himself a liberal with common sense….i wish more democrats were like him…..even when I do not agree with the mayor I still respect him…

How are you doing? still fine.

I always liked Ed Koch, even when I was a kid and used to get him mixed up with Frank Perdue.

“How come Silky always needs his wife to say the “tough” things he should be saying?”

Wearing the pants in the family requires taking the responsibility for being a leader and acting on it … even if you aren’t the one running for president.

Koch was clearly someone who Cavuto agreed with, but that wasn’t enough for Cavuto, so instead of Cavuto being professional, he’s egging Koch on to go even further. Way to show your “objectivity.”

The truth sure does sting, doesn’t it, asc85?

Huh? You totally misunderstood my post. I agree with Koch on this one.

Nothing is stinging me at all. I’d just like Cavuto to be professional in his presentation, which he most certainly is not.
