Video: Freelance terror attack averted in Michigan?

I didn’t post this last night when people started sending us links because the only alleged “jihad” connection was the fact that the suspect was Lebanese. Go see what Rusty found, though. It’s obviously the suspect’s website: compare the photo on his front page to the mug shot in the video.
Via LGF, amid the various loving photos of Khomeini and Nasrallah over there, you’ll find this. A commenter on Rusty’s site notes that it was posted the day he was arrested.
According to the police, he bought the AK-47 the night before he was seen walking around the park with it. It’s not mentioned in the news reports but is mentioned in the news video below that in addition to wearing dark clothes, he had his face blackened with some sort of make-up. Could be innocent, I guess. Hezbollah sympathizers hunt deer too, don’t they?

What IS it with the Jihadi doctors? The libs are always saying that terrorism is caused by the poor, uneducated and the oppressed. Yet again that theory has been proven false.

I read the articles about the police getting him as he exited a black SUV after being sighted with a gun….but that is pretty sketchy. Was he preparing to climb into a perch? Was he just walking around confused?
Would really like to find more info on the arrest circumstances and how he got noticed in the first place.

I grew in that neighborhood.
I used to run cross country and long distance track practices in that park.
We play softball in the city parks – this one is in the rotation – we play there every two weeks or so.
It has two small parking lots – one holds about 30 cars, the other about 50. There is a covered picnic area and a softball diamond. It is bounded by railroad tracks and nice homes. It isn’t very big.
The neighborhood is at least half middle-eastern. The most common guest of the park is a group of muslim women in full burkas pushing strollers. A police car rolls through the lots about every 30 minutes.
Unless they are bringing the Sunni / Shia / Caldean “civil war” here, there is no jihad to be found here.

This is Michigan – a little to the East.
We have a lot of arabs – for a long time it has been the ‘highest concentration of arab-speaking people in the Western World’. I am not sure if that is still true. The first Arabs to come here were the Caldeans – Christian Arabs who were persecuted in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq. We have many Iranians too, but they are not ‘Arab’, they are ‘Persian’. Don’t confuse the two, it would get you an ugly beating.
And by ‘a long time’, I mean 50+ years. The Dearborn Police has many officers with the last name of ‘Berry’ – and they are good men. Dearborn has maintained it’s standing as a good community because of these good people.
It has also become a gathering of Arab Muslims over the past 20+ years. These people have shown less willingness to become American. It is these people who have earned the city the nickname of ‘Dearbornistan’. There is a different attitude than before. The attitude is more of “I am better than you”. It was evident before 2001. It is worse now.
I have long thought Dearborn a safe area because there is a lot of fund raising and organizing done here by the Arab Muslims. But now I’m not so sure. If a split on subtle religious grounds erupts into a war here, it would be much worse than turf wars of a big city or gangland wars of a small state. It could become very dangerous to live here.
